Maytex Piped Suede 2-Piece Slipcover Sofa

I know slipcovers. I've gone through more than a person ought to. I have kids and I have pets. They are both fairly destructive, so instead of buying nice new furniture that will only be destroyed in a few months' timeI buy slipcovers. I do not buy expensive ones. I know that logically expensive ones will probably look and fit better, but I cannot bring myself to spend the money, so I buy the nicest looking, most inexpensive ones I can. They are almost always ill fitting, or they fit well enough, but you still have to tuck, tuck, tuck every time someone gets up from sitting on the furniture. This is fine for a little while but becomes quite maddening over time. I don't want to be the mom that tells my kids to please get off the furniture because they will 'mess it all up'. If you can't sit on it, it's useless. I got this one based on the reviews and it does not disappoint. At this price this slipcover is a steal. The 2-piece is what makes it work. I have a t-cushion sofa so I was a little nervous it might not do the trick, but it fits so well. I had to work the seat cushions in a few times to get the piping to line up just right, but now it looks great and STAYS PUT. It is also very soft to sit on. I would love to get the matching chair slipcover to go with this but as I said before, I am cheap, and that is expensive. I am tempted, though! Just a note about slipcovers in general: If your furniture has good 'bones' just needs an update (or to cover tears made by naughty cats) then slipcovers are a great option. If your furniture cushions are saggy and springs are busted and what not, a slipcover will not improve your furniture. They can only do so much.

Yes, the slipcover was a tight fir on a large couch but I love it. It took some effort to get it on my 96 inch couch but it fits great and looks great. Friends asked me if I got a new couch, they didn't realize it was my same old couch with a slipcover. I had read alot of the reviews but thought I'd try it anyway. (some reviews said the zippers on the cushion were poor or the material ripped while struggling to get it on. They must have heard everyone because my cushion has a velcro closure which works great. It cleans up nice with a wipe of a wet cloth for minor spills and food splotches. So after a little sweat and tugging I think it is great...it was just what I needed to make my old worn couch look great!!

This was my first time ever purchasing/using a slipcover so I wasn't sure how it'd turn out, but the instructions were clear and my couch now looks so much better! The slipcover is of great quality and color and I'm very pleased. It was a tad bit too long for my 72" couch, but with a little tucking here and there you can't even tell. I was worried about the slipcover possibly slipping around with use, but so far it stays put. I would definitely recommend this slipcover!

Jan 5, 2012 *** UPDATE ***

So I've been using this slipcover for about a year now and thought I'd update my review from 5 stars to 3. I still think that for a slipcover, this one is about as good as it's gonna get ... but it's far from perfect. I find myself adjusting it EVERY DAY. It's a simple process but still, it doesn't stay put as well as I would have hoped. BUT I can't imagine any slipcover not having that problem.

PROS:

Nice color and fabric

Cleans well

Doesn't attract pet hair ... I have two cats lounging on it all the time.

Good fit

CONS:

Constantly need to adjust it :(

As others have stated, the material is very nice, soft and suede like. I got the 'tan' which is darker then tan but still a lovely color.

Now, for the bad news. If you do some measuring, I hope that this will prevent you from having to send it back which is what I am going to have to do.

When I recieved this, I immediately went for the cushion cover because I knew if the cushion cover didn't fit then there would be no sense in putting on the rest of it wasting more time. The cushion cover was to cover two cushions and was plenty long enough but here are the measurements that you need to know. The cushion cover is 4 3/4 in deep. If your cushion is deeper then that, it will not fit. Mine are 5 1/2 in. It is only 26in. wide, from front to back. Mine are 30".

Of course, this information should be told to us right in the description of the product so I have taken off one star because of that. Shame on them. My sofa is 85" long, so I figured it would probably fit pretty good but I wasn't going to take it out of it's packaging to find out.

Very impressed with this slipcover. Was replacing an old dirty 1-piece slipcover and the difference is remarkable. It looks like an expensive sofa now. Our sofa was a little longer than average and the slipcover fit perfectly. We were a little worried that it wouldn't look right on a t-cushion but it was no problem at all. I've heard from others and found it true with this slipcover, that you have to put it on, let it sit for a day, adjust, let it sit another day, and adjust again, ect. It seems to stretch and learn the shape of your particular sofa and after a couple days fits great. Well worth the money and great quality product.
