I bought this product as an alternative to traditional and memory foam mattress toppers because my husband doesn't like the heat that they retain. I was also looking for natural latex foam as I was concerned that synthetic/natural mixes would be less durable or more likely to retain heat and indeed, this topper does not retain any heat at all.Initially, the topper took some getting used to it does not seem that soft and it feels quite "wobbly" when you first lie down on it. However, I've noticed that I am sleeping better through the night and most importantly, I am not getting any aches and pains from pressure points.
That said, there are a couple of reasons why I didn't give this product 5 stars:
1. there was a tear in the foam when I unpackaged it. However, because it is in a corner, I don't think that the tear will get worse.
2. unlike memory foam, which dampens the movements in bed, the topper seems to amplify the slightest movement that my husband and I make. Every time one of us moves or turns in bed, the entire topper "jiggles" and it actually makes my husband dizzy. However, this is affecting him more than it affects me.
This product is a great purchase for the price and overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase.
After opening the package and removing it from the tightly sealed plastic the topper did expand considerably and required about 5 days of airing out before the latex smell dissipated enough for use. It is bulky and heavy a two person job to move it for a queen size topper. The edges of the topper are square, not rounded like my mattress, and hung over at the corners but a mattress pad cover snugged the corners right down. It isn't necessary to buy a separate cover for this topper, a fitted sheet or mattress pad is all that is needed. The topper is thick enough to make a real difference, and depending on the depth of your mattress, you may have to buy new sheets to accommodate the added thickness.
This topper does not retain heat like a memory foam mattress pad does, it doesn't jiggle noticeably on our Beautyrest mattress. It did come with two dark smudges and there were some flaking perforations, which is normal for an organic, natural product. Neither of these things have any effect on the performance of the topper. It will take years to find out how durable it is, but for now I am very satisfied with this topper.This topper felt the best. Offers good support and are fairly inexpensive. I found similar toppers at twice the price except the one in the store had a zipper cover. I could use my regular fitted sheet to cover it. My research showed that these toppers are all natural while many others in the market have some chemical latex added. Though I felt some rubber smell to begin with, it is all gone in couple of days. In couple of months I plan to buy for my guest bedroom. Their customer service is also nice and they ship pretty fast.I purchased this topper for my mom after she said her new mattress wasn't soft enough (the show room bed was, to her, softer than the same model delivered). Before I purchased this product, I spent about three hours on the internet researching memory foam vs. natural latex toppers. It arrived quickly, was in excellent condition, and it had no odor. It was more than large enough for her queen size bed. After sleeping on it she said she loves it, she gives it rave reviews, and she could not be happier with the exceeding level of comfort she receives from sleeping on this topper; and my mom is not an easy customer to please.
After lying on it myself, I agree with her opinion. It is by far the most comfortable bed I have ever laid on.
If you purchase one, you will be glad you did.Am a side sleeper on a firm mattress. Tried memory foam 2", was hot and only helped the sore hips/shoulders a bit. Bought this latex topper and wish I had it years ago. Much much more comfortable...
