Serta 2-in-1 Reversible Memory Foam Classic Pillow

Serta 2-in-1 Reversible Memory Foam Classic PillowThis pillow was an excellent match for me and may be perfect for you. Here are some pros and cons to help you decide:

Pros:

-Lighter than Tempurpedic pillows. I know it seems oxymoronic, but my Tempurpedic pillow was a brick! If you used it in a pillow-fight, you might find yourself on the end of a battery conviction! While my Tempurpedic was comfortable, it was not so amazing as to justify the outrageous price-tag.

-Will fit in your standard pillowcases (but is very, very snug).

-Has a zip-off, washable cover. (Tempurpedic pillows do not have zip-off covers).

-Carefully packaged. Sealed in plastic to prevent contamination and then housed in a thick cardboard box (recyclable) to prevent any sort of en-route trauma.

-The memory-foam side is comparable to Tempurpedic and has a pleasant cooling effect.

-The quilted-side is warm and comfy.

Potential Cons:

-Extremely thick (i.e. "tall"). This may translate to "uncomfortable" for you.

-There is (initially) an unpleasant odor. As indicated in the booklet, this begins to dissipate after the first twenty-four hours. Those with sensitivities may need to unwrap this product and leave it exposed to air for a few days.

-Not the best choice for side-sleepers. If you fall into this category, grab the Serta 2-Layer Contour Pillow with Latex. It was created with side-sleepers in-mind.

With this noted, I plan on purchasing another of these pillows to make an even-set. It is equally as comfortable behind my back when I'm reading in bed as it is under my head when I'm sleeping. My advice? Skip the Tempurpedic ... you could buy three of these for the price of one Tempurpedic ... and you'll still have the same great night's sleep!

I am one of those people that is VERY particular about my pillows, so I was a little hesitant about purchasing a pillow online. I am so glad I took a chance on this pillow! It is both soft and firm, depending on what side you use. The memory foam side is just right, and the fiberfill side is both soft and supportive. Most pillows give me horrible headaches, or I wake up with a terrible knot in my kneck or shoulders. I had just given up on waking up pain free and well rested. My biggest issue now is that i really don't want to get out of bed in the morning. I sleep like a baby on this pillow, so much so that I have fallen asleep with the tv and lights still on multiple times. I don't wake up at all hours having to turn or fluff my pillow which is really nice. Most memory foam products that I have tested out in stores have a horrible smell. When I unpacked this pillow from the box there was a minor plastic smell (probably because it was packed in plastic), but I just let it sit on my bed without a pillowcase for a few hours and by the time I went to bed I didn't smell a thing. Another major perk that I do want to mention is that it is machine washable!!! The memory foam insert is removable through a zipper on the end of the pillow so that you can just toss the pillow in the wash. What a fantastic idea!! I am extremely pleased with this pillow!!!

My husband and I have both preferred flatter, squishier pillows; for this reason, we have used down-filled pillows for years now. However, both of us were finding that we were spending more and more time trying to "prop" up our pillows, and I had the additional problem of waking frequently with neck pain, including cricks in my neck. Eventually, we decided that we needed new pillows and that we needed to go firmer than what we were used to.

At first, though, we feared going TOO firm. Although I had found these 2-in-1 pillows on Amazon, we weren't sure about them, so we went with relatively inexpensive pillows we found in Bed, Bath, & Beyond. Those pillows were microfiber, which had a similar feel to the down we were used to, but they were described as having "extra loft," which we thought would give us more support. Unfortunately, after just a week or two of use, those new pillows felt just as squishy as our old down ones, and I was still waking up with neck pain. We even tried placing an older, thinner pillow under the new ones; although the firmness level of this was about right for me, the result was just TOO high. We needed a better solution!

So, after reading the reviews, we finally decided to bite the bullet and order these 2-in-1 pillows. When you receive the pillows, the instructions say to remove the protective plastic and to let the pillows "air" for 24 hours so that the pillows can retain their shape and any lingering odor from the memory foam can dissipate. When I put my nose right up to the memory foam side, I could detect a faint (not overly unpleasant) scent, but others may be more sensitive to this.

I first used the fiberfill side of the pillow. Th material of this side felt similar to the microfiber pillow I had tried, yet much more supportive--i.e., you don't sink all the way down into the pillow because the memory foam side on the reverse provides support. I have been using the fiberfill side most often, and I have not woken up with a crick in my neck once in the month or so since we started using these 2-in-1 pillows. But, I am using the memory foam side as well. I get migraine headaches, and when I do, pressure AGAINST my head actually feels good. Therefore, on nights that I have a headache, I much prefer the firmness of the memory foam cradling my head. In addition, both my husband and I have found that we like the memory foam side as a support behind our back when reading in bed.

Although it has only been about a month, so far, the 2-in-1 pillow gets a thumbs up from both me and my husband. We both love the versatility of this pillow, and we both find ourselves using both sides of our respective pillows, depending on the situation. We have also found these pillows to have a good amount of loft and support without being too high (especially for people who are used to flatter pillows like us!). And we also appreciate the fact that these pillows retain their shape, at least so far. If anything changes, I will update my review, but in the meantime, I definitely recommend the 2-in-1 pillow.

Most nights I like this pillow (and I have MANY others because I'm always searching for the perfect one). I use both sides & find them both comfortable each in its own way. If I wake up uncomfortable, usually turning it to the other side is helpful. It's nice to have that option. It is quite firm on the foam side. If you like a big, fat pillow, (or 2 pillows) you will probably need a thin one underneath.

The only thing that matters when it comes to pillows is, is it comfortable?

Yes. Yes, it is.

The Serta 2-in-1 Memory Foam Pillow is the kind of pillow I like. It's firm and supportive, perfect for reading in bed. It conforms to the contours of your head and shoulders, giving you support without making you feel as if you're sinking into a cloud of feathers. I'm normally a pillow stacker to get the kind of support I want. No need to do that with this one, though.

Even better? Flip it over for a different experience. The flip side of this pillow is a standard soft pillow. That's a nice feature. You can sit in bed and read, then flip over to the soft side for sleeping.

A welcome addition to my sleepy time.
