Ok I am like the Princess and the Pea when it comes to pillows. This is a running joke to my husband, not so funny for me. I go through pillows by the dozens some years all I want is a night with less tossing, no neck ache and no more propping myself up on my arms all night long trying to get comfortable. I can tell within one night if a pillow is trash or not. The husband...could sleep happily on a rock... or his Tempurpedic foam pillow. I've tried everything out there from the el-cheapo pillows at the dollar store to the $120 Tempurpedic thing the hubby uses. That one was too hard and gets hot after about 30 minutes, so it's not for me. I bought this Malouf "Z" shredded latex pillow on a whim our mattress is latex with a foam layer and it's been quite comfortable for several years. Seems reasonable that a pillow of the same style might be comfortable too. Plus at under $15 each, worst case scenario it'll make good stuffing for a dog bed.First impression out of the box.... this pillow is heavy. I mean it feels like a piece of luggage, not a fluffy bed pillow. I admit I was a bit worried thinking it would feel like a block under my head. Second impression removing it from it's zippered plastic bag..... uggh. Hideous chemical odor. No way am I putting this smell on my bed or inside a good 400 thread count pillow case. I soaked both sides of the pillow in Febreeze soaked being the operative word here! Then laid it in the sunshine for a couple of hours. Like magic the smell was gone. It has not returned after 3 full days either. Third Impression sitting up in the bed watching television, the pillow offers firm support without sagging or wilting. NICE. Using the laptop, same thing.
MOST IMPORTANT TEST sleeping. The first night was amazing. I slept without moving for like 5 hours. Did not even roll over and that NEVER happens. I was out like a rock and that is a direct result of this pillow. Clearly something good is going on here. Second night was a good night too with no drama and no excessive tossing about. Three mornings later I have not gotten up with a crick in my neck, no stiffness and I actually feel rested. So the bottom line is that you need to air the pillow out and Febreeze it for the chemical smell, but that is a trade off worth making in my book. Sleeping like a normal person again? Priceless! I am going to buy two more of these pillows.

So it's been roughly 60 days since I bought the first "Z" pillow and I am still loving it. I bought a second one as well. The odor has not returned after three heavy treatments with Febreeze and direct sunlight. One thing I have noticed with the first pillow is the center has sort of loosened up and gotten softer. (I tend to sleep in the middle of the pillow on my side) It's not misshapen or flat, just softer and personally, I find that a good thing.

A YEAR! I cannot believe it, but I've had these shredded latex pillows for a year now and they are amazing. I still love them and that has never happened before. For a decade I was changing pillows every 4 to 6 weeks never again! One year of nightly use and these have gotten softer, not flat, just softer. The pillows are still tight, fluffed and super comforterable.
Even though this pillow has shredded latex instead of a solid piece of latex, it is just as comfortable as I remember my old solid latex pillow being. You can tell that this is a high quality pillow just from build and construction of the pillow. The pillow's casing consists of a thick high quality fabric and a heavy weight zipper. Even the tag sewn on the pillow is a high quality sewn-on fabric tag. Also, the pillows came in nice zippered storage cases that I'm using to store the pillows I replaced.
To address some other comments, anyone who has ever purchased any piece of foam knows there will be some initial odor. I removed the pillow from its nice carrying case and let it air for an hour before I went to bed. I have a fairly sensitive sense of smell and I did not notice any odor after airing out the pillow. My wife has allergies and breathing issues and she has been sleeping on this pillow without a single issue. For the people claiming the listing is misleading because a small fraction of the pillow is polyurethane, the headline for this product is, "Shredded Talalay Latex Encased in Regular Foam Pillow." Seriously, how much more descriptive and transparent can you be?
These pillows are an amazing deal and I hope people considering these pillows aren't dissuaded by the typical impossible-to-please reviewers on Amazon. Also, take seriously negative reviews with a grain of salt period, and doubly so, when they don't even have the tag that says they actually purchased the product (as my review will).

I wasnt really expecting too terribly much with these pillows as the price is so far below the average for latex pillows. I must say I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived in the mail. I ordered these on Friday, they were set to arrive on Tuesday but actually were delivered Monday, so that was just a bonus!I ordered 2 king size pillows; these are the first king size pillows of any kind i have ordered, so I cant say anything about their size compared to other pillows as I have nothing with which to compare them. That being said, they look a little skinny, by that I mean that the height of this pillow looks to be less than the height of my standard pillow, but then again i havent held them up to each other and it could just look that way because of the difference in length.
The packaging was half plastic, half material with a very nice look to it (not cheap looking, which gives a little more confidence in the product and manufacturer). Both my husband and I sat on these at the same time (about 320 lbs combined) for about 40 minutes while watching a movie and when we got up, they popped right back up to their original size, which was pretty neat! These pillows are very soft to the feel and are really springy. I slept on one of them last night despite the fact that i have not yet purchased a pillow case and I really liked the feel of the fabric on my skin; if i werent concerned about them getting overly dirty, i would continue to use them without a pillow case as they look very nice on their own. Fabric aside, I LOVE these pillows, i dont know how to explain sleeping on them-they are almost cloud-like, these are by far the most comfortable pillows i've slept on. For the price, you really cant beat this deal; i will be purchasing more when I move in a few months.. I obviously cant say much yet on how they hold up or if they will flatten over time, but they do have a 3 year warranty and for this price, i would say if they last me even a year it would have been well worth the price. Naturally i hope they last longer than that though =)

Let me begin by saying that I purchased the Z by Malouf 100% Natural Talalay Latex Zoned Pillow, KING-HIGH LOFT-PLUSH to use on my bed. I also bought this pillow to use on my chaise in the living room for watching TV. It is very comfortable, and retains its shape. I believe that it would be a great alternative for someone that is not willing to purchase the more expensive version for their bed. Be advised that it does not come with a cover.
