My initial review was based on removing this comforter from the package and seeing this very thin blanket. Much like another reviewer I freaked out a bit. It has indeed fluffed up nicely and is very comfy and warm. After further examination. It is very nicely constructed. I'm pretty happy with it now.
Word of warning. They come packaged in a sealed plastic container. When you first unzip it, it comes out very flat. Don't freak out like I did. Give it a day or two to fluff up.
Gary WWhat a great purchase. I had been looking for a new down comforter: light-weight, warm, and 100% down. This was just the ticket. It is literally "light as a feather" so it's like sleeping under a cloud. It's thin and very light-weight, but incredibly warm and delicious to snuggle into. The baffle construction keeps the down in place so there are no "cold spots." I put it in a duvet cover and that, along with a light blanket, is enough to keep me toasty warm at night (I keep my house very cool sometimes as low as 50 degrees and it's wonderfully cozy under the comforter).Like most down comforters, this one takes a little while to fluff out once you pull it out of the bag. However even after a few days of letting the down fluff out, its still not as puffy as some other comforters I have seen. When you lay underneath it and look through to a light, you can see that the down is evenly distributed. The cotton material seems to be well made, however it sounds like paper when you move it around. I had the comforter covered for about 3 weeks, then decided to wash the duvet cover, and it was full of down. Now all of my bedding, cover, sheets, and pillow cases have traces of down that is hard to take off. For a 1200 thread count comforter, it sucks at keeping down in. I suspect that it is actually a 2 or 3 ply count making the effective thread count more like 400. If I were to buy another comforter, I would choose one with the baffle design, cheaper, or a down alternative one. This one is not worth the price and it keeps me semi warm.I ordered on Monday, I received Wed. and it is lovely. I needed two, but I only ordered one (skeptical)..... now I'll order the other. I have always, always owned down comforters, but I have had to pay a small fortune for them. Right now at 54 and in my last year of law school, I'm broke so I took a chance on this one--but it paid off. I hope it's volume that allows them to sell such a nice piece at such a fair price-or maybe it's entry into the market-quite frankly I don't care. This is an exceptional comforter at the price. I also held it up to the light and it is truly all down.
~peace~This Comforter is great!! This Siberian Goose Down Comforter is so warm we stopped using our electric blanket and moved it to the guest room. The thread count is so tight we have never seen any goose Down but the warmth tells us it just full Goose down. We live in a cold area in Eastern Washington State in an old house. It is normal for our home to drop to 55 degrees during the night, but this Comforter has kept us warm. The Cotton is very white and clean with no smell. The Comforter fluffed quickly after opening and was ready by bed time. This is really a quality item and if it wasn't for the cost I would buy a second one for the guest room.
