eComfort Bed Rest Reading Pillow

i needed something so i can work in bed following foot surgery. this is my third surgery and i wish i had bought this for the first two. i'm 6' tall and 185lb and was concerned that other, floppier versions wouldn't give enough support or back height. i couldn't find any helpful reviews or dimensions on this version so i ordered through brookstone directly, because i could return it at the store. well, i'm not returning it.

it's smaller than i expected, but the back is high enough for me. sorry i didn't think to measure it, but when i sit up very straight, the top of the back comes to the top of my back. when i recline a bit (i.e., slouch), the top of the back is about 4" higher than my shoulders/back. it's plenty tall for me.

it gives great support in the back and the arms. i use an additional pillow at the small of the back. it's solid, without being too stiff.

the cover material is very soft, rich chocolate brown microfiber. but the cover is not removable or washable. it doesn't come with batteries, so i haven't had a chance to test the light yet, but the light has a nice little pocket it fits into so it will not get damaged. very lightweight and folds nicely so you can store it. also has a handle, so you can carry it easily. even though its a more expensive than the floppier versions, it's worth it. having pockets is also very useful, esp if you're working in bed and need a phone, a wireless mouse, tv remote, etc. as for size i'm a women's size 12 14. if i sit all the way back and very straight, my hips do fit between the arms, but if my hips were much bigger, it would be a little tight. if you're much wider than i am in the hips, this might be too narrow for you.

I purchased one of these pillows for each of my three teens. Only one of them likes it. So, my husband and I decided to try them. We both hate them. The arms are too short. The space for the tablet is unusable. You cannot put anything over the arms to set your tablet or laptop on. And it is uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. We are disappointed for sure. I read all the reviews and find it hard to believe that people are using this when they grade papers. It is so awkward. We are teachers and there is no way I could use this for any work. I would have given this a one star, but one of my son's uses his. So, one out of 5 people in our family likes this.

The cushion is comfortable, but it's not a very versatile product. It does not possess the ability to recline so it forces you to sit straight up which could be uncomfortable.

I purchased this for reading in bed, which I do nightly. It is very light weight and insubstantial, and offered very little support. The book slot on the arm rest is constructed of hard plastic and extremely uncomfortable.
