Carex Carex Coccyx Cushion

I am a woman with arthritis and MS and am dealing with a crazy amount of pain and tightness in the sacroiliac (SI) joint. I traveled on an airplane recently and tried to simulate what this type of pillow would do with a jacket (no luck). I knew I needed to research and buy a coccyx pillow asap.

I decided on this one over a ring shape because I thought that the shape and memory foam would be more useful in the car, on planes, sitting in meetings or just sitting at the kitchen table. It's been nice and provides a great amount of relief. I've been concerned about the potential for pressure sores for me (I do not use a wheelchair but sit a lot and have very little natural cushion on my tush). This is a nice cushion. Firm enough to seem like it will hold up for some time and with a durable cover and handle.

UPDATE Jan 25 I love this thing and am going to buy two more (1 for each car). I feel like Linus with his blanket ... I tote the this cushion all over the place :) Simple, logical relief.

After dealing with coccyx (tail bone) pain and after experiencing agony when sitting for extended lengths of time, I starting searching for a coccyx cushion. I did consider one which was significantly more expensive, but decided to search Amazon and found the Carex Coccyx Cushion.

I have used this cushion for over 6 months and I can attest it works very well for me! I can now sit on "most" chairs with no lingering pain. I say "most" because wooden chairs are the "wild card" for me. If they're wide and roomy, no problem. If they're cramped chairs where my back gets forced against the wooden back, then I have issue. Whenever dining out, we try to make sure to request a booth and usually have no problem having our request fulfilled.

We have since purchased a second cushion (one for home & one for vehicle) and are getting ready to purchase two more (for work & other vehicle).

If you're dealing with coccyx pain and need some relief while sitting, the Carex Coccyx Cushion is definitely a product worth purchasing.

The cushion I received is comprised of "100% urethane foam," which is not to be confused with memory foam. Urethane foam isn't heat-sensitive like memory foam and, as such, doesn't conform to the shape of your body like memory foam. Density levels of urethane foam can vary, but the thickness of the foam used in this cushion isn't even close to as thick as my memory foam mattress or memory foam pillows.

The cover is cotton with no handle and fits around the cushion like a pillowcase. That's quite a bit different than the product description, which states: "The removable soft polester and rayon cover zips off easily for machine washing while the transport strap provides convenience for travel."

There's no zip, there's no handle, and there's no "polester" (assuming that's supposed to be polyester) or rayon.

So, buyer beware. It's $22, which is far cheaper than other cushions with the same features, except this one doesn't actually come with the features it promises.

The memory foam in this cushion is a plus. I also have one just made of plain foam and this memory form one is far superior. I've tried this in the car (during an in progress broken tailbone injury) and it does not suffice...however, on my computer chair it is fabulous.
