This throw was an absolute disappointment for two primary reasons.I'll caveat this by saying we're an animal loving home and no one here would consider using any hide or fur from an animal that was slaughtered for the sake of vanity alone. Faux fur is a marvelous cruelty free alternative and a guilt free indulgence.
A week earlier I bought both a king size faux fur in mink and Chinchilla on Amazon by Better Homes and the quality was superb as was the packaging. Years ago I had a faux Chinchilla in Gray and black from Fabulous Furs and adored it, the feel was sensational, the quality beyond reproach but it was tossed in a dryer and ruined.
When I saw this throw I fell in love with the color and it looked so wonderfully plush and silky there was only one left in stock so I grabbed it and paid for overnight shipping which for prime members is a minimal charge of $3.99 so that's a non issue.
What I received when I opened the box was a throw and two pillows pushed into an open opaque plastic garbage bag. No tags, no decent packaging and without question a return or used item. If by the odd chance this is how the manufacturer packages their products they would do well both for themselves and their customers to remember that "Presentation is everything"
Even sheets and low cost bedding come in zippered vinyl cases. The reason for this probably has more to do with the sanitary laws that apply to bedding and related goods than anything else. But that said this awful packaging makes the item completely inappropriate for gift giving and at a cost of over $250 and a list cost of somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 it's unacceptable.
We adore Amazon and over the past five years I can count on one hand the problems I've had. That speaks volumes about Amazon as we average over thirty purchases per month.
The second issue was the quality of the faux fur. It was subpar to the $150 king faux fur duvet covers in every way. Wha is more this throw was advertised as "Premium" yet it lacked any of the smoothness and silkier feel one would expect especially in relationship to the price. Add to the mix the color is in shades of tan and brown and not close at all to the gray, black and white featured in photos.
Needless to say it was returned the next day. Post the return I recieved an outragous email via the Amazon email message system. The seller was demanding photographs no apaology no effort to make things right and so sense of ownership in solving what may have simply been a mishap. Put it all together and I simply can not recommend this product.
The fur on the blanket is about 7/8th of an inch long and is very soft. The bottom is a nice material that feels kind of like a soft suede leather. Some of the blankets I looked at used a micro fiber back which I figured would cause it to slip around the bed. I like this backing because it tends to stay put. It looks great too, it looks like the picture. The color goes in rows that are lined up perfectly with the long edge. Also the blanket lays flat, it looks bunched up in the picture, but it lays flat like a normal blanket.
