Sleep Innovations 2-Inch Gel Memory Foam and Luratex Custom Wave Foam Mattress Topper

Most mid to high end inner-spring mattresses are made up of a variety of foams of different densities and "feels" and then stacked on top of each other (usually along with layers of various fibers.) The type of foam used and how they are layered will determine whether the bed will feel hard, soft, or in-between. I have worked as part of a design team for a major bedding manufacturer and the types of foam and their orientation and order is always a major concern when designing a new model of mattress. The type of support (inner-spring, air chambers, solid memory, gel or latex foam) is also important, but the final feel of the mattress will usually be determined by what goes on top of the support system.

One thing that I would like to mention is that if your mattress has lost it's SUPPORT (i.e. sagging innerspring) putting a topper on it is like changing the oil on a car that has a blown engine. You might feel as though you are doing something to fix it but the real problem is not being addressed. If your mattress has lost it's support you need a new one. However, if the foams and fibers have become compressed or distressed, a topper can provide you with some much needed comfort.

One of the great features of this topper is that it gives the owner a chance to determine their own comfort preference by changing the order and the orientation of the foams. The Luratex Customwave foam is a type of zoned convoluted foam. By placing the peaks and ridges pointy-side up will give the topper a softer feel than by placing it flat side up. When you put the flat Gel Memory foam comfort layer in the top compartment the topper will feel soft. By placing it in the bottom compartment and inserting the wave foam with the flat side up into the top compartment the topper will give you a firmer feel. You might have to play with it at first, but fortunately Sleep Innovations provides you with a very helpful instruction guide that will help you with the setup.

This is my second Sleep Innovations topper. I was going to use this one on my guest bed, but once I tried it I found that I really loved it and I put it on my own mattress. Assembling the topper is easy as long as you follow the instructions. I like memory foam in general and although I was skeptical, the gel component seemed to add some additional comfort. I really like this product and hope that it will last me a long time.

Its so comfortable and you don't feel like you sink into it. We had another version of sleep innovations with a padded top and it would get uneven and our back would hurt if we slept more than 7 hours. The gel part does work nicely to keep us cooler at night compared to the pillow top version. I would highly recommend this product to anyone with a sore back or an older mattress. 5 Stars...

This mattress pad will make any bed feel better. You will get better sleep with this mattress pad then any other.I do like the pad comes in two different parts so you can adjust the firmness.I do have to say be gentle taking in out of the package because if you pull the foam padding it will tear and get a hole in it. This does take a few minutes to put on your bed , because each of the foam mattresses gets their own compartment to put the foam in. The bottom of the cover is really thin. So do not pull to much. The top part feels like a great quality sheet. They do zip together and come together nicely. It does not feel like two inches I can say it feels like four. All together a great mattress pad and will help you get more out of a lumpy bed.
