I did a lot of searching on the net to find the best deal on a memory foam mattress topper, and this one had the best density and thickness for the price, as well as coming through amazon instead of a shady vendor. When the mattress arrived it had a really terrible chemical smell which went away after a few days. It is very comfortable, and I rarely wake up with back pain anymore (used to have mild pain on most mornings and worse pain on some mornings). I have had this mattress topper for a couple of months now and highly recommend it.
I can't tell you how wonderful it felt to finally have some relief when in bed and with my health I spend at least 15-20 hours a day in bed it actually allowed me to not have to take as much prescription medication to relive my pain.
The free pillow is what it is free but the topper was heavenly! I say was because as another reviewer stated, a few weeks ago the "memory" disappeared. It's just gone Poof! I went through the difficult and painful process of flipping the topper (yes, for me it's quite an ordeal) only to find that no amount of flipping was going to help. I've added a featherbed underneath to try to add some support without too much support, but it didn't work.
So, I'm back where I began and not sure what to do. The price was amazingly low for this product, but if I have to buy 2 of them a year, it will get quite pricey. I'm on a fixed income and have to spend my money very carefully but sleeping well is also very important.
I have started the search again for the perfect memory foam topper, but I'm not sure if it's worth taking the risk of ordering from another company. Let's face it, once the topper is opened and no longer packed for shipping, it's nearly impossible to ship it back for a return so you're stuck with it, like it or not. At least with this company/brand, you know what you're getting.
Although I haven't been able to decide what route to go, I want to say that if a good night's sleep is something you can't afford to be without, if you're someone who has to get up and go to work every day, this is the topper for you. It is truly a dreamy, cuddly feeling everytime you lay on it. It is not overly hot during the summer months either. Of course I'm in a air conditioned home, but due to my health I am always hot wearing nothing but short sleeves year round and many of the toppers I've tried were miserably hot, but this one doesn't seem to add any additional heat to your sleeping environment, just comfort.
And lastly, although the free pillow isn't worth using for sleeping at night, I use it in the car on the way to my doctors appointments or on my way to the hospital for tests and it works great! Of course, the "memory" is gone from it also, but it was great while it lasted.
I will continue my search and whatever I decide, I will update my review to let everyone know if I've found something better. Oh, how I long for the days of childhood when I could fall asleep on my concrete front porch while waiting for my dad to arrive home from work. Those were the days when aches and pains consisted of skinned knees and bruises from my older brothers picking on me. If only there were some way for us to truly appreciate how pain-free life is for the average healthy child.

I must begin by saying I have no other memory foam mattress/topper to compare this to.That said, I think this topper is very good just the right thickness and softness. I was forced to purchase this because my old mattress was leaving my back and ribs kinda sore upon waking up. Suffering from insomnia, a little discomfort wakes me up & I cannot remain in one position for too long else the pain builds up.
This topper simply allows me to sleep on my back or sides the entire night without moving an inch, pain-free. Its a great feeling to be able to fall asleep on my left side and wake up in that same position without having my ribs and back in some pain.
The other night it felt as if the mattress was losing its effects. I didn't notice the softness anymore. So what I did was remove the topper and lay on the mattress. OMG, it was flat, too firm. I put the topper back on, laid down and realized how great it was again.
You get used to the mattress after a while, but that doesn't mean it's losing effectiveness.This product made a huge positive impact on my life. I've had it nearly six months now, and it still works great. I fall asleep faster, wake up less during the night, and no longer feel like a giant bruise in the morning. I was in a serious accident in 1994, and for years I dreaded laying down at night, and the pain was so bad in the mornings that I couldn't successfully eat before noon. Thanks to this mattress topper, which I use on a concrete floor, I wake up ready to face the day.

I don't know if going with the heavier density is what does the trick: not too soft, yet by no means hard. Just a bit softer than firm, just right. Didn't notice any smell from mine, but I do have a cold a at present. Clear instruction sheet in the box and no trouble whatsoever dealing with this company.
