The aluminum core of this lap desk lets the heat from my MacBook Pro through. It does block the heat for a few minutes, but soon my legs are hot and I have to move the computer off my lap.If you are looking for a lap desk to keep your computer's heat off your lap, then keep looking!

The Gifiti Lap Desk is very sturdy in design.
The neoprene cover keeps my laptop from sliding even at steep angles when I laying down.
Before, I would just have to reposition when I feel my laptops' hot vent.
Now, I have this deck that I can lay my 15.6" Gateway Laptop on to protect my thighs and more importantly, my gonads!
The lap desk actually felt slightly heftier than I expected, the aluminum core seems to think enough to prevent any heat from seeping through.
There is virtually no bend with this product, which shows me that it is a quality product. The neoprene fabrication does also feel very high quality.
With my laptop sitting at the very front of the lap desk I have about a 1 and a half inch space in the back, which is great!
If you're working from home and you have a 15.6" or larger laptop, I would recommend getting the 17" size just because of the extra size.
If you're planning to do some commuting, I would recommend buying the 13" or 15" version just for the added portability.
Usage as a writing desk is pretty good as well!
Works like a large clipboard, however, you should be careful not to poke any holes through the paper!
In conclusion:
As a student that regularly uses their computer as well as write paper by hand, this is a must have.
I can now sit or lay down in a comfortable position without risking frying my thigh or gonads.
Excellent product, very high quality, I know that this will last me for a long long time.The Grifti Deck is perfect for my 15"MacBook Pro. It's lightweight and I can sit with my laptop on it for hours feeling no heat. The only reason I deducted a star was that the rubberized backing seems to come off a little bit along the edges.
I received the 15" Grifiti Deck as a gift and use it everyday. It's very functional, light, and doesn't take up much space. I didn't think about using it as a writing or drawing surface until I saw this video:
I may have to get the 17" version now :)Originally i was impressed with this item, however w/in 6 months item began to wear away at corners-and so lasted less than 7 months before i had to trash it, as the material is a rubbery kind and cannot be repairedi contacted company but did not receive any sort of replacement, so i was out $21 for the product-a complete waste of my money-keep looking or find a way to make your own-i see the price has come down some-so if you don't mind buying 1 every few months then go for it-otherwise save your hard-earned money and look elsewhere.
