I bought the alarm for a family member who is hearing impaired based on a recommendation from a web site oriented toward serving the hearing impaired community. The instructions for setting the time and alarm functions could have been clearer, but it was not too difficult to get everything set up. Unfortunately that is the only good news.
We discovered that the alarm was not loud enough to be audible to the intended user (not a huge surprise), and that the vibration is not strong enough to be effective as an alarm. We also discovered that the alarm itself is a bit too fragile for its intended use. Pieces started falling off the first night we used the alarm even though it was not dropped and was not handled roughly.
We probably would have tried to use the alarm despite its too-quiet alarm and too-feeble vibration, but when it started falling apart we decided to abandon the idea.I found that it isn't that loud but the vibration easily wakes me as long as it is under my pillow...I put it in the pillow case so it stays there all night. It is a bit difficult at first to set though.
