I have been shopping memory foam beds for some time, and my budget was very very limited. I was nervous about buying any of the cheaper memory foams due to the wide variety of reviews. The mattress arrived faster than the estimate said, and I opened it right off, it didnt take long for it to be almost full sized again. I did not smell anything, not even with my nose against the mattress, so I think people who say that these mattresses have a chemical smell and hyper-sensitive. I let the mattress sit 36 hours, and slept on it last night for the first time. It is perfect, the only issue I have is that it does sleep warmer, but I can work with that!
I am SOOOOO happy that I chose to purchase this one instead of any of the others! It is the best money I ever spent and worth every penny, too! It came in a big, upright, rectangular box in only a few days after I ordered it, and started expanding to nearly the full thickness as soon as the plastic (it was really well packaged/wrapped in the box, too) was cut open. As to the smell that many complain about for memory foam products, I have allergies, asthma, and a really sensitive nose. So, that was a concern for me, too. But, it wasn't really an issue. The first couple of hours, as it was expanding, I only noticed a slight glue-like smell that dissipated once the mattress had fully expanded (which was literally--because I measured it--only five hours). I used this with a platform bed...and had the best night's sleep ever in a long time.
I would recommend this mattress to anyone who likes good support with a more cushy feel on the top to avoid pressure points (as with side sleepers, like me) and to anyone interested in a high quality, but reasonably priced memory foam mattress. First, we own a King memory foam that we purchased from a local retailer that is very comparable to the Tempurpedic brand. We actually went and tested each mattress out and purchased an off brand for 1/2 the price of the Tempurpedic but just as comfortable. Our 20 month old was in need of a big boy bed and I just didn't want to spend nearly a grand to get him a mattress for just a few years use. I started looking on line and really educated myself to what I hoped would lead to a great choice. The bed in the picture has a mattress pad on it for a reason. The one that arrived was a bit crude looking with a very cheap thin cover on it. I did purchase a mattress protector so this was not a deal breaker. The mattress did inflate rather quickly and although I didn't notice a strong smell it was there and I am extremely sensitive to odors and it did give me a migraine that evening although I did raise all my windows to air it out and used Febreeze on it. By the following day though it had completely dissipated. My son slept on it that night and has a habit of waking in the middle of the night but I was able to lay with him until he fell back asleep. The mattress is not uncomfortable. He seems to love it (he goes in and lays on it during the day) it feels much like the firmness in his crib mattress. It is fine for him but I am 165lbs and I find that the sides do not hold up as well as my more pricy King bed but it was a small fraction of the price so i didn't really expect it to. In my opinion it is great for a child's bed or possibly a guest bed. If you have not been use to a higher end memory foam mattress you may be more pleased with it than I am. I really can't complain much because it will serve it's purpose for the next few years. I hope to upgrade my son to a full or queen size bed down the road and plan on testing out mattresses and purchasing a more substantial mattress at that point but for now this is perfect for his car bed. (In hind sight it would have purchased the 8" because the 10" seems a little tall for his bed but that is my fault not the company's). Overall it is a decent mattress for the price.I purchased this mattress for my 13 year old granddaughter. She has been wanting a memory foam mattress like her sister has.
