When looking for a lap desk I wasn't really sure what to get, especially because reviews tend to say that they are cheaply made and wear poorly, so I decided to gamble and buy this product because I liked how it looked and the dimensions were exactly what I was looking for. This lap desk is exactly what I thought it would be: basically a board covered in fake leather with a pad attached to the bottom, and has replaced my old system of doing work on binders and clipboards quite nicely.

The best features of this product are as follows:

1) It is fairly sizable and can fit about two sheets of paper on it without them overlapping

2) The pad is comfortable

3) The surface doesn't get marks on it regardless what you are writing on (provided that you don't press ridiculously hard while writing on a sheet or two of paper)

4) The fake leather, which I had some initials qualms about because I was worried it would scratch, is actually quite nice and is a very attractive color

5) It is very lightweight and because it has a handle it can be hung on a wall (which is what I did) if you lack space to put it. (very convenient for college students living in dorms.....command hooks can hold it easily)

6) The shape allows you to position it very close to your body and allows for easier access to all parts of the surface (when contrasted with rectangular surfaces)

Unfortunately, my laptop, which is a 16.4 inch Sony is too big to use with a mouse on the lap desk. As a result, I often put the lap desk next to me and use it as a mousepad when I am using my computer. This is quite convenient but alas if the desk is slanted the mouse slips right off (putting an actual mousepad on top of the lap desk solves this problem). However, anyone who does not have a gargantuan laptop like me should have no problem using both the laptop and a mouse on the lap desk (although this might cause some balance issues due to the distribution of weight).

It is also impossible to place more than a single textbook on the lap desk but I have found that putting the textbook on the couch next to me, possibly propped up on something, and placing blank sheets of paper on the lap desk is the best way to do problemsets and practice problems from textbooks.

Since I have yet to find any major product flaws I would highly recommend this product and would say that although the price seems a little high considering lap desks are literally just pieces of wood on a pillow (not very difficult to make at home) the convenience of being able to do engineering problemsets on my couch while watching tv or simply because I'm to lazy to organize my desk definitely justifies the cost.

The product is made well, but the description that it fits up to 17" laptops is a bit misleading. I bought this for my 17" laptop and find that it does fit. However, due to the size of the pad underneath, being narrower than the height of desk, causes the top of the laptop to be unsupported underneath. With the laptop open, the monitor puts it weight at the top of desk causing it to want to flip. If the dimesions were provided, I would have likely avoided this product. Therefore, I recommend avoiding this product for laptops greater than 15".

I hope everyone reads this before it is too late. I ordered this lap desk as a gift and I'm glad I had time to return it before Christmas. I would have been embarrassed to give this to someone. The top is flimsy and the cushion is very cheaply made. To top it off, the seller took 3 weeks to complete the return and I was refunded less than the original purchase price. I would recommend staying away from this desk and this seller as well.

I am so surprised that this product is so highly rated! I ordered this product based on the fact that everyone else seemed to love it and said it performed well. This was not the case for me. I got it and within one month it has fallen apart! The lap desk is made of a piece of cardboard covered by imitation leather. I was expecting the desk part to be sturdier and more durable. The pieces of leather separated from the cardboard. I glued the pieces back together and I'm hoping that will solve the issue for now.

If someone wants a lapdesk of quality, this is not the product for you!
