Re: INTEX 12 inch AirMatress....I probably would have bought a Sleep Number Bed, but can't afford it. This is the perfect bed in my opinion and I recommend it to everyone who has back problems. I bought this 12 inch INTEX 6 years ago and put in on a platform bed. It's the best bed I ever slept on. I used it every night for six years before one of the innner compartments failed. I am rather heavy too. I couldn't find another in the stores here, so I bought a 9 inch COLEMAN at Walmart. Wasn't the same and I started getting a backache from the change of the mattress. I then found a 9 inch INTEX. That isn't as nice as the 12 inch, but much better than the COLEMAN. I now ordered the 12 inch INTEX and wish I had saved myself the money and aggrevation of trying something else. LOVE this bed and if I get 6 years out of this mattress for 40 some dollars, I am well ahead and well pleased. I used to turn a lot in my bed and now can fall asleep on my back (I am a side sleeper) and wake up hours later refreshed and still in the position I fell asleep in. It's just wonderful.

This is the third Intex airbed that we have purchased. The other two eventually developed a leak, ones that I seemed unable to repair, even with the repair kit. If it was not for the eventual leaks, I would give this 5 stars. Why do I keep on buying these airbeds? Do the math. You can buy quite a few new airbeds, compared to just one regular mattress inexpensive bed. Plus, if you like the feel of those now old-fashioned water beds as I do, you will like these better than regular mattresses. I probably should go ahead and buy another airbed, and have it ready to use if the current one gives out. It is not fun trying to sleep on an airbed that does not last the night with air leaking out of it. One other thing. In hindsight, I prefer the airbeds without the built-in pillow rest. I don't like the feel of it, and how low it is. However, with pillows, it still feels odd, and the added pillows don't quite ride well on the built-in ones.

This product was purchased to help me recover from a total knee replacement. The matress was set up on the day I came home from the hospital and lasted exactly one week until one of the plackets made a loud pop and split open leaving one large bump on one side of the bed making the bed unable to sleep on. What a disappointment and what a waste of my money because while I was recouperating the time limit to send the matress back expired by one week. Thanks for nothing!

Looks like a good sturdy air mattress, but it does not hold the air. After 3 hours it starts to get soft, then around 5 or 6 hours you are lying on the floor.
