Dreamaway Deluxe Waterproof and Stain Resistant Mattress Protector

Dreamaway Deluxe Waterproof and Stain Resistant Mattress Protector, KIngIn the past I have used the the vinyl pads that are flannel covered and some other pads that had quilted material sewn to plastic. Both of these types I placed under the sheet or mattress pad depending on the frequency of bed wetting. Every night wetting, under the sheet. Occasional wetting, under the mattress pad. (I refuse to wash a mattress pad nightly) This is a very nice alternative to placing a vinyl pad under a mattress pad because it has full coverage with no leaking. There is a synthetic flannel on the bottom and then plastic attached to the padding and then a very nice quilted cotton mattress cover top. The quilted top feels like a nice cotton sateen. The plastic is thin enough that it does not make noise. I think that's because it is attached to the top padding. If I didn't know there was plastic I don't think I would suspect it was waterproof. The price point makes this a good choice.

My 2 year old son and my mattress never get along. One always pees on the other. We are tired of spot cleanning the matterss which is happening almost every other week becuase my son loves to co-sleep with us. So this is what we found and it works great as a water barrier for the matterss, plus it protects the mattress from wear and tear, and the extra padding adds comfort to our sleep without losing the firmness of our matterss (we like firm matterss).

It's worth every dollar.

This product has approximately the feel of a fine, thin cotton quilt. You really do not know the plastic is there, which is quite something. As advertised the plastic does not make any kind of noise. It is hidden beneath the padding. The product arrives neatly folded in a zippered plastic case sturdy enough to reuse. This is really great for someone who wants real plastic waterproofing for a mattress but does not want to be aware of the plastic. It fits my queen size mattress perfectly and is very pleasant to sleep on.

This is the best mattress cover/protector I've ever had in spite of one deficiency. The covering is a soft, durable, high thread-count cotton. The backing is sturdy. The edges will cover a very deep mattress and are made of a stretchy fabric with strong elastic edges to hold it in place under the mattress. Mine is 11" and the edging goes way underneath the mattress (less with a deeper mattress though). The ONE drawback - it did shrink even though I laundered it exactly as directed with cold water, cool heated dryer. It took a long time for it to dry (I have a new Maytag set) due to the depth of the padding material. It was necessary to take it out of the dryer several times to reposition it so that damp areas were more directly exposed to warmth. The shrinkage of just the top of the mattress covering is about one inch on all sides. That's with one washing and drying. Didn't detect any shrinkage of the side materials. I'm hoping it does not continue shrinking. This is a major and common problem with mattress covers. Some day I hope a manufacturer figures out a way to stop shrinkage. (After a year or two of laundering, a queen size ends up about twin size due to shrinking!) Without the shrinking it would have had a full five stars.

The description says that it's waterproof, and we tested that out before placing the pad, and it indeed kept water off.

We had another great mattress protector to compare it against that was also water proof, but that was much more thin than this one.

Just be prepared that if you plan to store this pad for a little while, that it's pretty bulky even when compressed into it's case.

It's great that it came with a little case, but testing if it would go back in the case was a little more difficult than expected.

It's hard to believe that such a thick cover could be water proof, but it seems to do the job well.
