We followed the directions for machine wash and the pillow turned out to be a disaster. Brown stuff continued to come from the pillow and it never dried after several attempts on tumble low as directed. Horrible product, should never recomend machine wash.It made a mess out of our washing machine which lead to additional cleaning. We brought the pillow for our son and was worried about the chemicals from dry cleaning, however, we decided that washing this pillow is not worth it for anyone and should not be recommended. We only give it 1 star because of the fancy packaging and the pillow was actually great before being washed (3X) to remove brown stains due to cotton fibers.
Unable to have a down pillow because of allergies but disliking every hypoallergenic pillow I've used, this cotton pillow is a winner. Washing a pillow in the washing machine does not work but dry cleaning them does. There are many 'green' dry cleaners where you can have your pillow cleaned safely. This pillow holds its shape and is wonderful to sleep on. It's a winner.
