Sleep Innovations Contour Memory Foam Pillow

There are too many shady memory foam products in the market that you just have to question the quality. Well, with Sleep Innovations penetrating the scene, I'm glad there is a true competitor that will give Tempur Pedic a run for it's money.

I've purchased a Tempur Pedic pillow and it does speak of quality in terms of material and manufacturing. The memory foam at that time was very dense and therefore heavy than any pillow you've seen. This was thought to equate to quality.

Fast forward to 2010 and people realised the dense foam didn't promote air flow and equated to a very warm product. So the trend this time is an "open cell" memory foam that had the ability to let air flow within the foam and create a cooler sleeping environment.

I like the feel of this Sleep Innovations Contour Pillow. It's not as dense or heavy as the Tempur Pedic variety which is now old school, and it definitely does the job of promoting good sleeping posture all at a fraction of the cost.

Unpacking:

The pillow is wrapped in a plastic bag which when you open will release an odour that some people may find too "chemical" smelling. Just leave it to aerate for 24 hours if it bothers you. I didn't mind the smell and was able to use it from day 1 of purchasing it.

Features:

1. I like the concept of having two raised edges with different heights to suite different sleeping styles. Use any side that closely matches the height to softly cradle your neck.

I find it perfect to use the higher raised edge when sleeping on my side (due to the distance of your shoulder to your neck). Then if I feel like sleeping on my back I just turn it around to use the lower raised side. Of course, all this is a matter of body structure so your mileage will definitely vary.

2. The manufacturer claims that their memory foam is naturally hypo-allergenic and resistant to dust mites. Time will tell from fellow reviewers if this claim holds true.

3. Open Cell technology rather than the old school dense memory foam. This makes for a lighter and cooler sleeping product.

4. What's great is the fact that this is made in the USA which is rare these days. I appreciate this because I know there is accountability in the manufacturing process where the use of unapproved materials or manufacturing process has frequently come into question.

Conclusion:

If you've never tried a contour pillow before, price and quality for this pillow will give you more than enough reasons to make the switch.

I bought this pillow at Costco roughly 5 years ago and even till now I'm still using it. It's my favorite pillow of all time! The main reason I like the Sleep Innovations contour brand is because it is still firm after all these years, keeping its memory shape. The pillow cover is pretty soft and good quality fabric too. Only thing is one of the zippers broke after about a year of washing.

Update (11/23/2010):

I bought another one @ Costco roughly 3 weeks ago and decided to see if it's the same quality as the one I used for 1/2 a decade. One thing I noticed right away was the pillow fabric that came w/ this pillow; it's very bad..I think it's like 150-200 thread count...very rough. Well this is fixable; I bought some nice 400-thread pillow covers to go over this and it works great.

The firmness is still great! The size is the same as well. It does have a slight smell (nothing too strong) to the pillow, but it goes away after a couple of days.

Something to add to this is if you've never had a contour pillow before, you may need a little time to get use to it. It's not that it's uncomfortable, but it's the shape of the pillow. Ideal when sleeping on your side because of the firmness (and the shape), your shoulders and neck doesn't feel like it's getting pressure from your head.

While I don't normally write reviews, I was motivated to write one for this pillow because it deserves more positive feedback.

First, allow me to make a disclaimer: this pillow does not sink to fit the contours of your fingers when you press it with your palm, like the Temperpedic pillows do, but it does bounce back to its usual shape within seconds after you release the pressure.

With that said, the pillow has surpassed my expectations by far. After using a less-dense memory foam pillow that did not adequately support my neck, I was thrilled to find that this 3-pound dense pillow supported my neck at the optimal position and eliminated my occasional neck pain over night!!! Be careful which side of the pillow you use: the taller side is too high for my neck, so I use the lower side.

I really don't think I could have purchased a better pillow for this price, and I really love my investment!! I recommend this pillow without hesitations!!

I was expecting "memory foam" to mean that when I laid my head on the pillow it would conform to the shape of my head and neck and stay that way as long as I stayed in the same position. That was not the case at all. In fact I found the pillow to be kind of hard. I am a medium sized woman and found the pillow made for a larger head because my head did not even reach the indented part of the pillow and instead sat on the first bump of it. I actually turned it upside down where there are no indentations at all and I can use it that way just fine but that was not the purpose for which I bought a memory foam pillow in the first place. It is my first memory foam pillow ever and I thought that it was worth a try for the price.

If you are looking for a great representation for you favorite sports team, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. The throw looks absolutely nothing like it does in the picture. As a matter of fact the blanket I bought doesn't even have some of the things on the blanket like the picture like the grass on the side of the helmet and football. The colors of this blanket are washed out and are not vibrant what so ever as like in the picture. It looks like as if it sat in the window of a store and faded. A couple of specifics the building in right hand corner just lookslike a one color rectangle with a couple dark lines which i assume are the windows. The score board that has the block M with michigan going through the middle is just a yellow M. The main Block M is not outlined in yellow. The yellow on the helmet isnt maize looks like the color of butter. Basically the whole blanket looks nothing like the picture. Do yourself a favor and skip this blanket and any others made by northwest. Icould of possibly just recieved a bad blanket but chances are this is the way they all look. If you do choose to purchase buyer beware, do yourself a a favor and find a retailer where you can actually physically see the blanket.

American Baby Company Organic Waterproof Quilted Porta-Crib Pad Cover

Note to my fellow space cadets: this is for a porta-crib/mini-crib, which is not the same thing as a playard/pack-n-play. Oops!

Pack-n-play dimensions are generally a couple inches wider than portacribs. However, this does go on my pack-n-play mattress (Chicco Lullaby) just fine, since there is (of course) extra fabric on the sides like a regular fitted sheet. Given the fact that there are no organic pack-n-play options out there, I really wanted an organic mattress pad and sheets so that baby wouldn't be directly on top of vinyl and who knows what else in the mattress. FYI, both this and the organic crib mattress cover (which I also have) seem to be exactly the same size after washing/drying (the major complaint for the only organic pack-n-play mattress cover I could find on amazon).

I bought this for the mattress that goes in the bassinet insert of the Chicco Lullaby LX Playard. It fit perfectly, and made the mattress soft and comfortable without being dangerously soft. The mattress is made of three rigid components that fold, but this mattress cover fitted well enough that there was no buckling when the mattress was in the bassinet insert. I've washed this a few times (on warm) and air-dried it, and have had no problems. I bought the American Baby Company 100% Cotton Value Jersey Knit Porta-Crib Sheet to go with it and that fitted perfectly over it.

I loved the thickness and fabric of this pad and it washed well but my mattress in the mini crib I have is 2" foam and this pad fit too snug over the mattress so when you added a sheet it created a pocket between the mattress and crib bars/bottom in the corners where the mattress buckled. I have not been using in the bed as felt the pockets were large enough to be unsafe but have used the pads in my pack n play and fits a thinner mattress much better. Would not rec. for larger foam mattress.

We have been using this mattress pad for seven months now and it works great. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that after washing it seemed to shrink slightly making the mattress buckle when using the bassinet attachment for the Pac and Play. We are using an old model Pac and Play, however, so this may not be an issue in newer models. The pad is fine with the mattress on the bottom of the Pac and Play.

A nice pillow and a great concept this one simply did not work for me. I'm an average size person and the neck support was simply too small left me with a cramped neck about half way through the night.

The pillow is good overall. I got it to help with neck support. It does help some, but not in the way I had been hoping it would as I sometimes still wake up with a sore neck.

Echo Sardinia Standard Sham

I purchased this along with the Echo Sardinia Duvet Cover. I love the colors and design. I looked at multiple photos online and couldn't entirely tell what the design details and colors are, but it is quite beautiful and has many shades of pastel blue, turquoise, deep aqua, and bright blue, as well as lime green.

HOWEVER -note that while there is nothing to indicate as much, only ONE sham is included in the package. If you want a set of TWO, you have to buy TWO. I was quite annoyed to find my shipment only included one, not a pair, so now I have to buy a 2nd at the same price.

This brings the price of matching shams to nearly the same price as the duvet itself, which makes this set quite spendy. I have 6 standard sized pillows on my bed, so this is really stretching my budget beyond what I'd planned to spend. Were I not so enchanted with the design, I'd have considered sending everything back. This sham is aptly named.

this product appears to be very well made it is soft and thick and looks like it will hold up but i am very unhappy about the missleading picture and the fact that the product review says nothing about there only being one sham it the package, i dont normally read the reviews at the bottom, but i sure will start. I ordered both shams the euro and the regular one with the set both pictures on the reviews show 2 shams. So not just once but twice did i have to go back and order a second sham for both sets. Sets isn't that how shams usually come in a set, meaning two. not happy with the manufacturer or amazon for being misled.

The fabric is very soft and as others have said before the colors are brighter than they appear on my computer. The only thing I would love more would be a bed skirt to match. Its been difficult to hunt down just the right color. Otherwise I love it! Its very well made and brightens up my bedroom without it feeling like to much.

All Natural Latex Non Blended Mattress Topper with Preferred Medium Firmness 2 inch thick - QUEEN Si

I am a procrastinator.

I am now and always have been. You will benefit slightly since I have been sleeping on this topper for almost nine months and I, naturally, procrastinated in writing this review.

So it should come as no surprise that I waited much too long to change my old-as-dirt, lumpy, taco-shaped torture chamber masquerading as a mattress. I knew that I did not want to purchase a mattress that included springs in any form so my choices were rather limited. After many, many hours of research and reading any and every review I could find, I finally decided on a generic memory foam mattress from the big box store that was available on their website. In an effort to provide full disclosure I will say the memory foam was my second choice behind a 100% organic latex mattress but spending thousands on a mattress is something I wasn't willing to do at the time so I had to settle for second best. It was easier doing so knowing I was also purchasing this topper at the same time.

I was surprised when the box arrived since it was smaller than a keg of beer. I pulled out the topper which was enclosed in what looked like a black trash bag. I realized it was vacuum-sealed and carefully removed the black bag layer under which was another plastic covering. So I again begin to carefully remove this wrapping and if I had not had the same experience with the memory foam mattress a few days earlier would have scared myself with how quickly this thing expands and tries to come out of the wrapping once the seal is broken and air is returned to the topper.

I plopped it on the mattress as fast as I could and let it return to form. The first thing I noticed was the smell which is familiar since I own a latex pillow but there was also another smell which was rather chemical-like and I assumed it was from either the plastic packaging or the vacuum process itself. However, it wasn't overwhelming and dissipated fully in a couple of days. I then took stock of the topper itself and was rather displeased as to its aesthetics. There were two, albeit smallish, black smudges of some sort on the topper (which remain to this day). Secondly, and most unappealing, was the entire left side of the topper looked like it had been cut out of a king size to fit on a queen bed. The topper is comprised of what I refer to as "zones". The outer perimeter contains uniform holes from the manufacturing process. Inside of this perimeter is another "zone" without any uniform holes, just the natural ones made by the air bubbles released during the molding process. The inner zone is again full of the uniform holes which from what I understand help to keep the air circulating while sleeping. The "zoned" nature of the mattress made the hack job glaringly obvious and for the price I paid I certainly expected different. I suppose it wouldn't have been such a big deal if they would of at least cut it straight but there is an inch overhang on the bottom where the cut got misaligned.

Having said all this, I'm sure you're wondering how in the world I determined this product deserved 5 stars after the problems I incurred. Simply, this topper has changed my life. From the very first night till present, I get rejuvenating rest each and every time I lay down to sleep. I sincerely had no idea just how poorly I was sleeping until I woke up after my first nights sleep on this topper and had not a single body ache or pain and I was wide awake and lacking any brain fog like I normally experience when I first lumber out of bed. I was so excited but being the consummate cynic I chalked it up to my old mattress being so bad that anything newer would certainly feel heavenly. But night after night and morning after morning I continue to experience the same wondrous feeling. I utterly dislike having to sleep anywhere other than my own bed because I am inevitably going to wake up cranky, tired, and sore no matter the newness or type of mattress I sleep on.

Natural latex has this incredibly unique property of being soft to the point of feeling almost buoyant and weightless while also being supportive and cradling the contours of the body. And if you want to be truly amazed, just search the web for latex mattresses that are still around from the 50's, 60's, and 70"s! Latex's durability is unparalleled which is why I felt justified in spending so much on this topper. It feels nothing like even the most expensive, top of the line memory foam mattress I previously thought I wanted. Memory foam uses body heat to soften and conform to your curves and in doing so retains that heat as synthetic materials aren't normally breathable. It also takes a bit for memory foam to return to its shape so you often find yourself slipping into the same spot you just tried to roll out of. This latex topper is natural and breathable which allows for proper air circulation and for someone who flips the pillow over just to get to the cold side this was a very important priority in my comfort. Also, the latex springs up instantaneously when pressure is removed so there is no falling into the same body hole over and over.

My topper was received with an International Latex sticker on it meaning the Talalay manufacturing process was used. This information should be clearly defined in the description as Talalay and Dunlop processes are distinctly different and therefore create a different end product that the buyer should be made aware of. I would have been less hesitant to buy if I would have known this was an International Latex product.

The last thing I would like to point out is that natural latex is hypoallergenic, anti-microbial and mildew, mold and dust mite resistant. There is no off-gassing like with synthetic latex and memory foam and no petrochemicals so it's green and eco-friendly. Also, utilizing a rubber tree's sap doesn't harm the tree which makes it a sustainable resource.

If you've read this far I applaud your efforts and will spare you further grief as I could actually go on and on about the information I have learned and how crazy I am for natural latex sleep products. I cannot recommend a natural latex topper or mattress enough.

I am no stranger to latex I have a latex / foam mattress on our guest bed and futon and latex toppers over firm eco foam for my bed and our King guest bed. Of all of the latex products we have used in our home I must say that this topper is the best, as well as a great value! The topper is everything other "5 star" reviewers said it is: superior organic talalay latex; the medium firm is not squishy nor overly firm but it is "jiggly" and that is a good thing; and there was absolutely no smell! I was able to lay this out on my mattress and make the bed right away and Wow is it comfortable! And the best part it arrived in less than a week. It should be noted that there are irregularities and that if you are not careful, latex will tear. However, this is very normal for uncovered latex and if you want a cover, you can always purchase one a lot less expensively than purchasing covered latex. My topper came with very slight irregularities, but these were very insignificant, and far fewer than I have experienced with the other toppers I have purchased from other vendors over the years. All in all this topper is a phenomenal product!

Our six year old pillow top mattress prematurely sagged in the middle, so we flipped it over (to the hard side) and bought this natural latex topper since it's sustainable and received strong reviews. I was waking up with a back ache every morning, and from the first night with this new topper, woke up back-ache free and haven't had one again since (it's about a month now). it is retaining it's shape and provides the right amount of cushion for my wife and me. After three months of absolute agony sleeping on a Tempur-pedic Cloud mattress, which I couldn't return because it was a floor model, I was about to give it to my daughter. But after talking with our local FloBed dealer, who makes custom beds using natural latex, I decided to try a latex topper on the Tempur-pedic. A great deal of research and high prices later, I decided on the affordable, 2" Natural Latex Non Blended Mattress Topper from Organic Textiles. WOW! What a difference! I sleep soundly and get up refreshed every morning, rather than feeling as though a truck had run over me throughout the night then parked itself on my back and shoulders in the morning! The topper arrived in a timely manner and was vacuum-packed in a black plastic bag. When I took it out, the topper immediately took on the correct shape, no bumps, ripples or bent corners. There was a slight smell, so I aired it out for a day before putting a mattress pad on top of it, and haven't noticed any odor since. I'm adding a wool mattress pad so if anything spills, neither the latex topper or the mattress will get wet.

The topper is not quite as firm as I'd hoped it would be, but it does make the mattress a great deal firmer. My only beef is that one side of the pad has a number of tears between the holes, and one edge is slightly ripped at the end. According to the manufacturer, tears are a normal part of the manufacturing process, although I feel there may be a few too many, which is why I've given only 4 stars rather than 5. Over all, I am extremely satisfied with the seller and the product.

Pirate Treasure Quilt

Ordered this for my 3 year old son's new room. I love it because you can just throw it in the wash maching. However, quite a bit of fading upon the first wash. After about 4 or 5 washes one of the seams has come undone on the edge and I will need to sew it back. My son loves it. In fact insists on sleeping on the shams which is why I have had to wash so many times already.

I would recomend this if you are on a budget.

This is a really cute bedroom set, however I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the materials. I would only recommend purchasing if you can get it for a really good price. Otherwise, you may be able to find something better.

I tried the cuddle ewe for about 20 minutes and then had to get up and totally take me bed apart in the middle of the night. King sized bed, HEAVY underquilt. I am sure it works for someone but the tufting was a dealbreaker for me. They were very good about taking it back.

This is my second Cuddle Ewe. The price on here beat any deal I could find online. It is amazing how well I sleep and how free of pain I am in the mornings with this thing! My last one lasted 7 years or so. I'd still be using it if we didn't get a bigger bed.

Adjust-Air Portable Lumbar Support

I am pleased with my purchase overall. I was leery when I unpacked the item, because I could feel the bulb/valve protruding under the embroidered "+" and "-" symbols on the face of the pillow. It was so much that I was positive that it would bother that side of my back. That turned out to not be the case.

The adjustability is key with this pillow. You can make it soft or firm. It also has an elastic strap, which secures the pillow to the back of the chair. This is the best part for me, because once it starts to bother part of my back after an hour or two, I can slide it up or down a little. This allows me to place pressure--and ultimately a stretch--on various parts of my back. I can feel a difference in my posture and I notice a difference when walking.

I would have given it 5 stars if the manufacturer could identify a way to conceal the pump and relief valve mechanism. Overall, this isn't a big deal. I would purchase again if I needed to.

I purchased this item for use in my Mazda Miata. When the support is not inflated the internal pump and valve assembly forms an uncomfortable lump in the pad. When inflated enough to hide the valve/pump the support is too big. The support was returned. I'd prefer an external pump to avoid the lump.

This lumbar cushion gets alot of heavy duty, industrial use where I work and so far it's been up to the task. It replaces a similar product I was using by Obusforme which was nothing more than a glorified beach ball (it sprung two leaks after only two uses and after repairing these several times, the plug broke off and a third leak appeared, it went right into the garbage) This product, on the other hand, has MUCH better build quality and should last along time.I sit in several different chairs at work, most of them very poorly designed for ergonomics, and this cushion works well with all of them. It's easy to adjust the thickness with the internal pump, and when not in use it folds in half and wraps itself with its own straps into a small bundle. I've been using it for several weeks now and so far I am very satisfied with it.

I bought this pillow as well as the similar one with the external hose and bulb available from M3 Distributors (also via Amazon). The $33.50 version seems to be a better pillow with better support, if you don't mind having the external bulb. For me, the external bulb is actually kind of nice in the car because it's much easier to adjust.

I was a little confused about how this pillow worked, since it just mentions pressing the "+" and "-" buttons. However, the embroidered buttons simply mark what appears to be the same bulb mechanism--it's just sewn into the pillow itself. The benefit of this is you don't have an external hose flopping around getting caught on things. However, the downside is that it's a little harder to reach back and inflate when you're sitting against it. Another drawback is that it's possible to lean against the "-" button area, which can push the air release valve open. Also, fully inflated, this pillow doesn't give quite as much lumbar support as the $33.50 external hose version.

Overall, I'm happy with both versions of pillows. The external hose one I use in the car, and this sewn-in version I use around the house and office. It's easier to carry around and it provides sufficient support. Definitely worth the $20 for even a little relief for my herniated lumbar disk.

The designer chose the worst possible place for the pressure release valve. Unless the seat-back of your chair or car seat is flat, the moment you press your back against this lumbar support, you are going to release the pressure every time.

Most seat-backs, especially in cars are curved which causes the pressure relive valve to push against your side. Even when the seat-back is flat, the chances of accidentally releasing the pressure are great unless the support is fully inflated.

Also, the pump is not very efficient and it take a lot of work to get this thing inflated. And, the placement of the pump is also unfortunate you feel it under your back and after a while it becomes uncomfortable. Plus, it's hard to adjust the pressure when it is strapped to the seat-back.

For me, this thing is completely useless.

I have many issues with my neck and own the standard size of this pillow and it helped tremendously. I own a king size bed and decided to purchase the king size shredded latex pillow but found that it lacks the stuffing that the standard one had. Other wise, great workmanship.

This has been a nice little pilllowcase for my little pillow. I have a travel/toddler pillow that I put between my knees to sleep because of my bad hip put they don't come with the pillowcase. this is just right but wish they had it in white or a pastel. the beige is rather boring.

I bought several of these. They are way too expensive for the amount of work that went into making them (I sew), however, they are made of very nice fabric and are put together well. I would bite the bullet and buy them again.
