Sleep Innovations Contour Memory Foam Pillow

There are too many shady memory foam products in the market that you just have to question the quality. Well, with Sleep Innovations penetrating the scene, I'm glad there is a true competitor that will give Tempur Pedic a run for it's money.

I've purchased a Tempur Pedic pillow and it does speak of quality in terms of material and manufacturing. The memory foam at that time was very dense and therefore heavy than any pillow you've seen. This was thought to equate to quality.

Fast forward to 2010 and people realised the dense foam didn't promote air flow and equated to a very warm product. So the trend this time is an "open cell" memory foam that had the ability to let air flow within the foam and create a cooler sleeping environment.

I like the feel of this Sleep Innovations Contour Pillow. It's not as dense or heavy as the Tempur Pedic variety which is now old school, and it definitely does the job of promoting good sleeping posture all at a fraction of the cost.

Unpacking:

The pillow is wrapped in a plastic bag which when you open will release an odour that some people may find too "chemical" smelling. Just leave it to aerate for 24 hours if it bothers you. I didn't mind the smell and was able to use it from day 1 of purchasing it.

Features:

1. I like the concept of having two raised edges with different heights to suite different sleeping styles. Use any side that closely matches the height to softly cradle your neck.

I find it perfect to use the higher raised edge when sleeping on my side (due to the distance of your shoulder to your neck). Then if I feel like sleeping on my back I just turn it around to use the lower raised side. Of course, all this is a matter of body structure so your mileage will definitely vary.

2. The manufacturer claims that their memory foam is naturally hypo-allergenic and resistant to dust mites. Time will tell from fellow reviewers if this claim holds true.

3. Open Cell technology rather than the old school dense memory foam. This makes for a lighter and cooler sleeping product.

4. What's great is the fact that this is made in the USA which is rare these days. I appreciate this because I know there is accountability in the manufacturing process where the use of unapproved materials or manufacturing process has frequently come into question.

Conclusion:

If you've never tried a contour pillow before, price and quality for this pillow will give you more than enough reasons to make the switch.

I bought this pillow at Costco roughly 5 years ago and even till now I'm still using it. It's my favorite pillow of all time! The main reason I like the Sleep Innovations contour brand is because it is still firm after all these years, keeping its memory shape. The pillow cover is pretty soft and good quality fabric too. Only thing is one of the zippers broke after about a year of washing.

Update (11/23/2010):

I bought another one @ Costco roughly 3 weeks ago and decided to see if it's the same quality as the one I used for 1/2 a decade. One thing I noticed right away was the pillow fabric that came w/ this pillow; it's very bad..I think it's like 150-200 thread count...very rough. Well this is fixable; I bought some nice 400-thread pillow covers to go over this and it works great.

The firmness is still great! The size is the same as well. It does have a slight smell (nothing too strong) to the pillow, but it goes away after a couple of days.

Something to add to this is if you've never had a contour pillow before, you may need a little time to get use to it. It's not that it's uncomfortable, but it's the shape of the pillow. Ideal when sleeping on your side because of the firmness (and the shape), your shoulders and neck doesn't feel like it's getting pressure from your head.

While I don't normally write reviews, I was motivated to write one for this pillow because it deserves more positive feedback.

First, allow me to make a disclaimer: this pillow does not sink to fit the contours of your fingers when you press it with your palm, like the Temperpedic pillows do, but it does bounce back to its usual shape within seconds after you release the pressure.

With that said, the pillow has surpassed my expectations by far. After using a less-dense memory foam pillow that did not adequately support my neck, I was thrilled to find that this 3-pound dense pillow supported my neck at the optimal position and eliminated my occasional neck pain over night!!! Be careful which side of the pillow you use: the taller side is too high for my neck, so I use the lower side.

I really don't think I could have purchased a better pillow for this price, and I really love my investment!! I recommend this pillow without hesitations!!

I was expecting "memory foam" to mean that when I laid my head on the pillow it would conform to the shape of my head and neck and stay that way as long as I stayed in the same position. That was not the case at all. In fact I found the pillow to be kind of hard. I am a medium sized woman and found the pillow made for a larger head because my head did not even reach the indented part of the pillow and instead sat on the first bump of it. I actually turned it upside down where there are no indentations at all and I can use it that way just fine but that was not the purpose for which I bought a memory foam pillow in the first place. It is my first memory foam pillow ever and I thought that it was worth a try for the price.

What a grrrreat pillow! I have bought some expensive pillows over the years, always trying to find the best of all pillows. Well I must tell you I am surprised to find this pillow to be the one that is most comfortable to me. It is cool to sleep on. I have hot flashes so definately need a cool pillow. It molds to my neck and shoulders just right to provide the support that I need, weather I am sleeping on my back or my side. This is by far the most comfortable pillow I've ever slept on. I ordered 2 of these after my physical therapist that I see for neck and shoulder pain recommended that I buy more supportive pillows. These were perfect! They are really supportive but still soft enough to be comfortable.

This pillow, the Malouf shredded/gel pillow, had almost no smell and acts like a down pillow. It does not feel over-stuffed and is easily fluffed out when changing positions. I also ordered Z by Malouf "dough" pillow in queen sized high loft. The dough pillow definitely has the stronger smell, and after a week it has substantially faded but still smells quite a bit (I can deal with it because I am sound asleep). The shredded gelled pillow has no smell at all now. It doesn't sleep "hot" at all, which is important in the Florida summer. It is an awesome pillow which I used exclusively for a week prior to getting the dough pillow, and now use as my secondary pillow when I sleep on my tummy. I prefer the firmer support of the dough pillow while sleeping on my side.I love having these two perfect pillows on my bed! I am 5'2" and it adjusts to my sleep patterns.

I originally got the info to look for the Talalay from a mom's blog, and almost ordered one at $99. I decided to search Amazon because I can get free shipping and know the prices are almost always competitive, shipping is 2-day with prime, and service has been spot-on. Edit: March 16 2013. The pillow is still holding up and is just like the day I bought it. No funky smells. Still my primary pillow. I even carry it with me on travel. No more stiff necks!

This pillow is incredibly comfortable. It actually is delivered in an attractive pillow case, but I covered the pillow with a case of my own anyway. I think one of the best things about this pillow is that it naturally conforms to the shape of your head and almost forms a cocoon around your head and neck, enabling easy spine alignment. For back sleepers, its great. I am a stomach or side sleeper, but this pillow's comfort is encouraging me to sleep on my back for the ease at which sleep comes to me. Wood Novelty Paper Towel Holder

Humanity Family Sleeper- co-sleeping pad and maternity body pillow

UPDATE: It is now March of 2013 and we are still using this product. I liked it so much that I actually ordered another one as we have had another child. The one that I purchased this time around is NOT the same quality as the previous one. In fact, I am very disappointed with it. The zipper was replaced with cheap plastic snaps and the pad is not nearly as long. I was expecting to get the same product that I had ordered before. Compared to the previous version, this one gets only 2 stars in my book. I am going to try to contact customer service.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

This co-sleeping pad has been a lifesaver (or more likely marriage saver!) for my family.

I have a very restless 8 month old. He starts off in his crib in a deep sleep and about 5 hours later starts rolling around. He gets his legs and arms through the bars and cries and then scoots up and hits his head. My husband was working away from home for awhile so I would just bring the baby in bed with me at this point. When the hubby came back home, I was worried that he would roll or otherwise hurt the baby because he is also a restless sleeper who tends to throw his arms out to the side. However, I did not want to put baby on my other side for fear that he would roll off of the bed. So some totally sleepless nights ensued during which I tried to settle baby in his crib with no success. Hubby was upset with no sleep for work, and I was upset because no sleep for me and baby kept hurting himself on the bars of the crib.

Something had to give. I had looked at this co-sleeper pad a long time ago and thought it was way too expensive. However, what is the cost of having no sleep? Hubby drives long distances to work and was having trouble staying alert. The cheaper "anti-roll" bed devices were just bed rails or foam that slipped under your sheet. Neither seemed like a good option for us. A bedrail would be the crib all over again and the foam just looked like it would not fit nicely under my already snug sheets. So we talked it over and decided to order it.

First night after we got it, we all slept better. When baby wakes, he comes into bed and I don't have to worry about hubby hurting him or baby rolling off of the bed. It makes night time nursing a breeze and the cotton absorbs spills wonderfully so there is no need to change the whole bed. I find it very soft and comfortable, it is however, slightly hotter than a regular sheet for summer use, but not to the point where I would stop using it. There is plenty of room for me, hubby and baby, however, we do have a king size bed.

Overall, it was definitely worth the price and I would definitely recommend it to other parents. I am so thankful that this worked for us!!

UPDATE: It is now the end of October 2011 and we are still using this co-sleeper. The fabric is still as soft as it was when I purchased it despite many washings. The padding in the roll is still fluffy, I just move it whenever I wash the pad so that it is not always getting flattened out. This product has been well worth the cost and the quality is wonderful. I honesty don't know what we would have done without it! 2 thumbs still way up for this co-sleeper.

The concept is great but needs to be improved upon. The part that you lay on constantly wrinkles, bunches up, and shifts around b/c there's nothing keeping it laying flat while your bodies are naturally moving on top of it. It gets realy uncomfortable having the material bunch up under you and you need to keep fixing and adjusting it. I'm disappointed since there are very few of these types of items available for bedsharing with our infant. I wish the sheet part was longer so that it could be tucked under the other side of the mattress or something that way, maybe it would stay put.

This was exactly what our family was looking for. This ensures our baby is safe while giving my husband and I the opportunity to cuddle. The three of us sleep so much better now. We like it much better then the seperate cosleeping nest (the type you set in the middle of the bed) that we were using before. It is easy to wash and will make holiday traveling so much easier. It is well worth the expense.

I did a lot of research into different co-sleeping options and decided not to get this product with my first son due to the price. I ended up not co-sleeping for very long with him because we have a raised bed and I had a lot of fears that something would happen to him. In hindsight, I regretted not co-sleeping (it was so much harder having him sleeping in crib). 2 years later when I got pregnant again, I redid all the research of co-sleeping options and found myself back at the Humanity Family Bed. I'm so happy I went with this product. Co-sleeping has been amazing and the Humanity Co-Sleeper is perfect. I don't have any fears that he will slip out or it will move (like some of the other co-sleeping options). I read a review that the fabric was rough, but I find it very soft and quite pleasant to sleep on. I haven't had any problems with it bunching, as another review said. It is very easy to pull off and wash or roll up and place at the bottom of the bed or top. We have a large bed, so the size of the pillow is perfect. What I've spent in money, I've saved in peace of mind and extra hours of comfortable co-sleeping. I would highly recommend it as an option (although also recommend shopping around for prices).

We use this in our bed and love it. I like having the baby on my side instead of the middle so the covers don't get tossed over her. The flannel is very cozy for us to sleep on and it is easy to wash. Highly recommended for all co-sleeping parents.

I bought this on Amazon for $50 to match the sheets for my daugther. It was as expected, light weight and colorful. It is not a heavy blanket, and the material is basic. You can almost C-thru the material of the blanket. You are mainly buying it for the hello kitty design, because the comforter is very basic.

The Baltimore Ravens Twin Bedding Set arrived on time and is very nice. My grandson likes it very much. However, the top sheet has a hole in it. After waiting for more than a week, I again emailed the sender for an ETA of the new sheet and he forwarded the email from the manufacturer to me and said that he would once again contact the manufacturer. Even though I like the product, I don't think that I would order from them again since it seems that they have dropped the ball. I'm having second thoughts about ordering from Amazon.com as well since I don't want to have this scenario repeated.

I got this set of pillow cases for my 3 year old daughter because every morning she was miserable as I struggled to comb her hair without hurting her. She tosses and turns all night long and truly had a rats nest every morning. I figured this would help her hair and I could call it her "princess pillow". As an added bonus I hadn't expected, she tends to be warm all the time and even with a fan on would frequently sweat at night with regular pillow cases (getting her hair all wet), but she seems to not get as hot with this pillow case. She loves having her own princess pillow and I love it because she has a fraction of the knots every morning making a nicer start to the day.

I'm not an expert in satin sheets, but the quality is pretty nice. It is soft and after a few washes has held up well (no loose strings, etc). We'll have to see for longer term last, but so far I've been pleased with the purchase and suspect we'll have these for a while. She has a standard pillow and it fits with about 4 inches of extra pillow case on one end.

Overall, a good purchase and I'd highly recommend it to any parent of a little girl with lots of tangles.

I bought the Ivory color and the pillow case is very soft and silky and wonderful to sleep on. I also bought a sheet from this store and it was as described. Great quality products!

Almost bought a satin pillow case without the hidden zipper. So glad I didn't! Very pleased with this purchase. The hidden zipper is within an approximately 3/4" flap of fabric. They have held up just fine going through the wash with my other dark items. I do let them air dry and they dry very quickly.

This is a very nice pillow case. The material is very high quality and the zipper is really a nice addition. I have used my pillowcase for three months and it still looks like new. I wash mine in the washer and dry it in my dryer. Still the same quality and when I purchased it. Highly recommend it. Will definitely buy more.

Allersoft 100-Percent Cotton Dust Mite & Allergy Control Deep Mattress Protector

I bought this mattress cover for my son's bed in early May. He is highly allergic to dust mites and treel pollen. On the plus side, the mattress cover is soft and cooler than the cover we had on previously. My son noitced he was not as hot sleeping in his bed. On the negative side, when the summer humidity kicked in the cover has shown it does not keep out dust mites! We keep the A/C on all the time due to his allergies and my 9 year old is still waking up every morning with a stuffy, congested nose from the dust mites. The cover is certasinly helping to keep some of the dust mites from coming throughbut not all. Now I will have ot decide whether to go back to a more plastic type cover or see ifhe can deal with this for a few more months. I would recommend the cover for folks with mild dust mite allergies only.

Since I have purchased this I have no longer have problems with dust while sleeping in my own bed. I did not realize before that the dust mites were living in my mattress. I would wake up each morning with a stuffy nose and then proceed with taking care of the symptoms instead of the root of the problem. I also have pillow covers. These are awesome do the same good work, and provided you wash these things on a fairly regular basis (like once a month) then the dust is kept at bay.

I ordered this encasement for our new Eastern King mattress. The mattress does fit inside the encasement... the problem is... there's about 6 inches extra fabric no matter how we fit it. The first time I thought we had it in improperly, so we rotated it and tried again. Same unfortunate results. Very disapointed.

I purchased this mattress encasement, received it yesterday and put it on the bed today. It is soft, it isn't "crinkly" and has easy, simple care instructions. The pillow is high quality foam, medium density. The cover is a smooth, pleasant to touch velour with a zip so you can wash it. When reading in bed or sleeping on your back it is pleasant to use it as a support for your knees. I imagine it would be good on your low back in a chair as well.

Imagine your current regular sized pillow. Divide that into a 4ththis is the size of the pillow you're getting. Too softawful cover... wouldn't purchase againbarely covers back of neck.

As most of the reviews said, this pillow was just ok. I would hardly consider this pillow to be "memory foam". And the pillow did have a strong stinch but after airing out for a few days it was more bearable. I washed the pillow case to help mask the smell. Also, the pillow case is not green, it's tan. This pillow was very inexpensive so I guess you get what you pay for...which didn't surprise me at all.

I have owned this exact pillow for 10 years. It looks the same as the day I first bought it, no special care.

It is NOT the size of a regular pillowit is a bit smaller. I have used it for supporting my neck during my sleep.

It is essentially a piece of memory foam with a green zip-on cover. If the cover gets dirty you can take it off and wash it.

But I don't have a problem with the size; it was exactly what I was looking for.

However, the reason that I would not recommend this pillow is because it flattens out to the point of practically being useless. I have several pillows like this, and none of them flatten like this one does.

These pillows are soft and have a great feel. I ordered two of them. One was exactly as pictured. The other was a slightly different section of the pattern where the grey leaves were centered and there isn't as much black. This worked out great for me because I like the variation, but if you want them to be identical it's something to consider.

Scent Sation Wild Life Pillow Cases, Set of 2

Absolutely love these sheets! So far so good, but I also have cheetah by Scent Station and I love them, actually they feel better then what 300 tc should be. They are nice and well made soft and just dense enough that they are not too heavy. I have not scene any fading and they are holding up well vs other brands like regal 300 tc which started to fade after just a few washes and are very light not as well made. I love this brand!

they wrinkle really bad. I always told myself it would be a cold day in hell before I ironed a pillow case, but after I washed these that's just what I did. Now mind you, I take all my clothes out of the dryer promptly and fold them so there's really no need for me to iron that much. But these, were a wrinkled mess when they came out so much so in fact, that they wouldn't fold right without getting some of the wrinkles out first. Now the questions you may want to know---yes, they are lovely and have a vibrant color. Yes, I washed them in warm water, no bleach and they still retained their color. No threads coming apart after washing and they are soft. So all in all a great pillow case IF you don't mind the wrinkles~

I loved the Z Malouf latex pillow which I bought on Amazon; my spouse hated it. I then purchased a RejuveNite latex pillow which we both hated. I finally decided to have my spouse try a queen-sized "Flo-beds Natural Twice Fluffed Dream Adjustable Pillow." Miracle of miracles, he is still using the "Flo-beds Natural Twice Fluffed Dream Adjustable Pillow"; he had abandoned each of the other two latex pillows I purchased after only a few hours use.

While no latex pillow will feel exactly like a down/feather pillow, the "Flo-beds Natural Twice Fluffed Dream Adjustable Pillow" is more similar than the "solid" latex models. The fact that this pillow is adjustable allows the user to customize its softness to a feel that is most comfortable for that individual. The pillow is soft, but supportive. Unlike down/feather pillows, the filling of the "Flo-beds Natural Twice Fluffed Dream Adjustable Pillow" does not shift significantly when the user moves. However, the user can adjust the pillow by "fluffing" it into a more comfortable configuration.

The "Flo-beds Natural Twice Fluffed Dream Adjustable Pillow" is quite firm when initially removed from the package and expanded it is compressed for shipping. We initially removed 15 ounces of twice-shredded latex from the pillow. The remaining queen-sized pillow, including both the liner and outer covers, weighs approximately 6 pounds. Had I been aware of how much filling made up the pillow, I might have purchased a king-sized one and divided it into two standard pillows. While they would not have been firm, overstuffed pillows, I believe they would have been the firmness we like.

There is a pleasant latex scent associated with the "Flo-beds Natural Twice Fluffed Dream Adjustable Pillow." It has dissipated, but not completely disappeared, over the time my spouse has used the pillow. Unless an individual is particularly sensitive to this smell, it should not discourage someone from purchasing the "Flo-beds Natural Twice Fluffed Dream Adjustable Pillow."

For my spouse this is a 5-star product. Additionally, you will find Flo-beds customer service exemplary; they are extremely helpful, willing to answer innumerable questions; and always prompt in responding.

It could have gotten a 5, however, in looking over the pics on site, and having received the set, where it looks to be so tan, it is really pale yellow. The colors are more masculine than feminine. Not my taste. I am hoping to be able to still send it back.

Sleep Innovations Reversible Gel Memory Foam Pillow

This is a comfy little pillow that arrives with just a bit of that foam smell. It degassed in about 1 night, and the smell is not really detectable anymore. Much better than other foam pillows including the comfort revolution which never really degassed. I hate pillows that smell, and i usually return them. I am thinking about keeping this one.

The cooling effect is quite poor for the pillow. I wouldn't describe it as a cool pillow inasmuch as a pillow that doesn't heat up as much as others. You don't feel any coolness, but you can notice that the pillow doesn't build up as much heat after you lay on it for a while.

I slept on it one night, and it was one of my better nights of rest. I woke up feeling refreshed, and that almost never happens to me. My head feels comfortable laying on it too. It's not the densest memory foam, but it does its job. The size of the pillow is pretty close to a twin/full, and just about fits your head comfortably with some room on the sides.

The more I think about it, the more impressed I am with the "doesn't heat up" effect this pillow provides. Whereas those real gel pillows actually feel cool (shockingly cool at first), they all heat up eventually and feel warm to the touch. This pillow never feels cool, but when you touch it it feels only slightly warm. I guess the gel foam is doing something.

This looks like the same one Serta is selling on Amazon based on the pics. One difference being the materials used in the covering they include that go over the foam. This one is cheaper, and the materials reflect that. The cover included is extremely cheap, rough, and cheap fabric. I took it off and just put the pillow in my pillowcase. It works fine. The order of the covers: foam, thin linen cover (nonremovable), thicker cover of some fabric (the one I removed), pillowcases that you put on.

I can recommend this pillow for the low price.

BULLSHOOT, I said to myself. THis memory pillow won't work, it's hard and feels like a rock! But, I was skeptical, the customers reviews were good, it was cheap and my old pillow I've been using for decades was about dead. No loft.

I have to tell you after one night of using it, IT"S GREAT!!

One side is hard and covered in bubbles, the other side is the memory foam. I like that side.

Your head just feels, NOTHING as you go to sleep, it almost feels like you are resting your head is resting on a hard cloud, as it slowly shanks into the memory foam. Within seconds, you sleeping. NOT turning or readjusting your pillar, or waking up in the middle of the night to adjust it, but sleeping, restful dreaming sleep.

I am convinced and I hope it will continue to convince me over and over, in the coming days.
