I was afraid that, for the price, I would get something with that plastic feel, but in fact the fabric feels much softer than I expected, and no noise to bother my baby. It does the job perfectly, and so far it has been very easy to clean.
I was really pleased with this American-made mattress protector. It was durable, soft, washable, and even had a great zipper tuck-in Velcro enclosure. The manufacturer even offers a ten year warranty. Very pleased.

is not completely water proof the material absorbs liquids and holds it next to the plastic. So odor does occur.

The fabric on this cover has a bit of a polyester-ish feel which may be a turn-off for some parents, although I think it feels nice under a crisp sheet. A cottony texture would've been nicer. In any case, I bought the cover a couple months ago for slightly different reasons than advertised. I'm completely paranoid about fire retardants commonly used in foam products and wanted a product that would keep them away from my baby. While I can't say for sure if this product is actually keeping my baby safe from polybrominated chemicals, I do know that every bit of barrier protection helps. In addition, the cover has protected the mattress from wet nights while washing up nicely. No stains (yet!).
