Sleep Better 3-Inch Visco Elastic Memory Foam Mattress Topper

I own a Tempurpedic mattress, which is my bed at home. I also own the Sleep Better 2-Inch Visco Elastic Memory Foam Mattress Topper, Queen, which I used on top of an Aerobed 18in Raised Queen Premium Guest Bed, Queen and slept on 4 nights per week for a few months to save commuting to San Francisco. I now also own the Sleep Better 3-Inch Visco Elastic Memory Foam Mattress Topper, Queen, which I'm using atop a friend's regular mattress that's otherwise like sleeping on a slab of granite.

First off, the foam for the Sleep Better mattress toppers is not the same as the brand name Tempurpedic foam. The Tempurpedic foam is significantly more dense, meaning: 1) it takes a bit longer to respond to your weight / body heat; 2) it gives you significantly more support; and 3) it takes a bit longer to recover when you move.

I actually slightly prefer the 2" topper on the Aerobed to my $1200 Tempurpedic mattress [boy, do I hate to say that!]. The 3" topper on the granite-like mattress is good, but is my least favored combination.

The 3" topper is too soft and too thick. I sink so deeply into it that it's actually some effort to roll over at night. I got used to it after a few nights, and no longer wake up to roll, but I found it annoying. It's certainly not a bad experience. If I hadn't tried the other 2 options, and was only comparing it to sleeping on the granite mattress from h*ll, I would've been thrilled with it. But knowing what the other options are like, it's my least favored of 3 good choices.

The Tempurpedic is a fantastic mattress, and I'll certainly keep it as my primary bed. My only niggling complaint is that, being temperature sensitive, my sleeping experience is different in summer vs. winter. In the hottest month of summer, the mattress is just a bit too soft, and my back isn't optimally supported. In the coldest month of winter, the mattress is a bit too hard. It does soften up after I've been in it for a few minutes, but it's noticeable when you first get in it.

I really like the combination of the Aerobed and the 2" topper. The Aerobed let me adjust the overall firmness of the mattress and provided all the support. But the tufting of the Aerobed results in deep divots in the surface, which are not comfortable. The 2" topper smoothed out the divots and provided excellent cushioning, without being so deep that I sunk into it and lost the mattress's support.

The brand name Tempurpedic products are definitely superior to all competitors I've tried, so if you can afford them, go for it. If not, the Sleep Better products are good options. I recommend the 2" topper over 3". It's more comfortable, cheaper, and your sheets fit more easily.

I purchased this Mattress Topper over a year ago now and I still love it. It is very soft and adds the right amount of support for my aching back. Two things I am not happy about; the first is when you unroll it from the box it comes in; it has a terrible chemical odor. It does fade in about 3 weeks but can be strong for people with sensitivity to smells. It did fade and I would recommend dealing with it if you can. The second problem which isn't a real biggie is the color of the foam starts to turn yellow over time. Now, I don't know if it's because I sleep with an electric blanket all the time and it is adding to the color change but it is happening. But who really cares if it's being covered with sheets and blankets anyway right?

Over all I am very happy with the added comfort and for the price it is so worth it. Getting cozy in a warm foamy bed...ahhh nothing better.

This is definitely my best purchase of 2005! I only wish I had purchased this sooner. I now get the best sleep of my life, I no longer suffer from hip pain in the a.m. and I feel warm and comfortable like I'm in a cocoon. One of the biggest complaints of memory foam is that it DOES absorb your body heat, which means you will be warmer when you sleep on this rather than directly on your mattress. I live in Florida, so that just means adjusting my thermostat and using a ceiling fan. It is a bit warmer, but not to the point where you sweat. It DOES smell of chemicals when you first open it. Just let it sit out for a day or two until the chemical smell disappears. That happens with all memory foam mattress toppers. This one IS about 1-2" short, but do your feet need memory foam? Do your feet extend to the very tip of your bed? Mine don't... the missing inch or two just means your sheets fit better. Best of all, this memory foam topper is not an environment where dust mites (or bed bugs) can live so it WILL help allergy sufferers greatly! I would especially recommend this to anyone on bed rest, anyone in the hospital, elderly people (they tend to have joint problems), allergy suffers, those with asthma, and ANYONE wanting the best nights sleep of their life! This mattress topper will improve any mattress and I cannot imagine not having it. I will be buying one for each of my children this month as I am finally convinced of the benefits of memory foam!

This made our king bed feel very much like a thermarest mattress. It is very comfortable and we are glad we went with at least 3 inches. The biggest problem is that the pad is rolled up for shipping and this hurts the shape of the pad. It does not fully reach the sides of our mattress. Although it has stretched out more over the past couple of weeks, it is still coming up short. Since we don't sleep on the edges, it doesn't affect the performance but my wife doesn't like how it looks.

I am pleased with the addition of this memory foam mattress to my bed. You sink (only slightly) into bed and it feels very comfortable. Other complaints on this page are valid it does stink (though it goes away after a couple days) and it is a bit short (which does help the sheets fit better). I'd say for the price it is one of the best deals out there.

This is a nice bedspread set for the price. The fabric is shiny which I know some people consider "cheap", so if you want a more matte spread, this might not be the set for you. I personally love that the embroidery and the bedspread itself has a metallic sheen. The embroidery looks very nice and is of a good quality. There are some threads left from the sewing of the item, but none from snags or product imperfections. I would not consider the fabric scratchy, but it is not ultra soft like a suede or a flannel.

We recently stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn. My 4 year old son loved the "squishy pillows". The next time we traveled we asked where he wanted to go and he wanted back to the Hilton, first for the pool and second for the pillows.

So i bought him this pillow for his birthday. He loves it and is actually sleeping better.

I borrowed his pillow for a week and compared it to a fairly expensive down pillow i bought from Boston Store. This pillow was much heavier in weight, squishy and well... i bought another one of these for me.

My son loves that he and daddy now have the same kind of pillow. I love that i'm sleeping even better with this pillow than the other.

For now, i'm pretty pleased with it.

I received the same make/model pillow... so swaps, no changes.

Holy cow does this pillow smell! Maybe this is how down naturally smells and I didn't know that when I ordered it? It's exactly what I was looking for in terms of comfort and it arrived clean and sealed in a plastic bag. It is very comfortable! But I can't get over how much it reeks! I've tried airing it out, washing it and drying with several dryer sheets, and lots and lots of fragrant pillow spray, but I can't get it to stop smelling. I'd describe it as a cross between wet dog and plastic. Maybe the Hilton Hotels have a special method for cleaning these pillows, but if this were given to me on a stay there, I'd demand a replacement. I'm bummed that I ordered this pillow, because none of the other reviews mentioned the awful smell. Am I the only one that had this issue? Gag.

Like other reviewers I had stayed at a Hilton branded hotel and found the pillows to be exceptional. These pillows are NOT the same. They compress to almost flat when in use whether sleeping on my back, side, or stomach.

Several years ago I purchased the same brand from TJMaxx for considerably less money that still offers good support. Maybe it is the 'fill factor' or some other construction detail. Whatever, these pillows are only for people who don't like to use a pillow at all.

Thankfully Amazon is good about accepting products that don't live up to their advertising hype. I purchased 4 of these and not a single person rated the experience as good as using the 2/$13 poly filled pillows from Tuesday Morning.

UPDATE: It is now March of 2013 and we are still using this product. I liked it so much that I actually ordered another one as we have had another child. The one that I purchased this time around is NOT the same quality as the previous one. In fact, I am very disappointed with it. The zipper was replaced with cheap plastic snaps and the pad is not nearly as long. I was expecting to get the same product that I had ordered before. Compared to the previous version, this one gets only 2 stars in my book. I am going to try to contact customer service.

This co-sleeping pad has been a lifesaver (or more likely marriage saver!) for my family.

I have a very restless 8 month old. He starts off in his crib in a deep sleep and about 5 hours later starts rolling around. He gets his legs and arms through the bars and cries and then scoots up and hits his head. My husband was working away from home for awhile so I would just bring the baby in bed with me at this point. When the hubby came back home, I was worried that he would roll or otherwise hurt the baby because he is also a restless sleeper who tends to throw his arms out to the side. However, I did not want to put baby on my other side for fear that he would roll off of the bed. So some totally sleepless nights ensued during which I tried to settle baby in his crib with no success. Hubby was upset with no sleep for work, and I was upset because no sleep for me and baby kept hurting himself on the bars of the crib.

Something had to give. I had looked at this co-sleeper pad a long time ago and thought it was way too expensive. However, what is the cost of having no sleep? Hubby drives long distances to work and was having trouble staying alert. The cheaper "anti-roll" bed devices were just bed rails or foam that slipped under your sheet. Neither seemed like a good option for us. A bedrail would be the crib all over again and the foam just looked like it would not fit nicely under my already snug sheets. So we talked it over and decided to order it.

First night after we got it, we all slept better. When baby wakes, he comes into bed and I don't have to worry about hubby hurting him or baby rolling off of the bed. It makes night time nursing a breeze and the cotton absorbs spills wonderfully so there is no need to change the whole bed. I find it very soft and comfortable, it is however, slightly hotter than a regular sheet for summer use, but not to the point where I would stop using it. There is plenty of room for me, hubby and baby, however, we do have a king size bed.

Overall, it was definitely worth the price and I would definitely recommend it to other parents. I am so thankful that this worked for us!!

UPDATE: It is now the end of October 2011 and we are still using this co-sleeper. The fabric is still as soft as it was when I purchased it despite many washings. The padding in the roll is still fluffy, I just move it whenever I wash the pad so that it is not always getting flattened out. This product has been well worth the cost and the quality is wonderful. I honesty don't know what we would have done without it! 2 thumbs still way up for this co-sleeper.

The concept is great but needs to be improved upon. The part that you lay on constantly wrinkles, bunches up, and shifts around b/c there's nothing keeping it laying flat while your bodies are naturally moving on top of it. It gets realy uncomfortable having the material bunch up under you and you need to keep fixing and adjusting it. I'm disappointed since there are very few of these types of items available for bedsharing with our infant. I wish the sheet part was longer so that it could be tucked under the other side of the mattress or something that way, maybe it would stay put.

I did a lot of research into different co-sleeping options and decided not to get this product with my first son due to the price. I ended up not co-sleeping for very long with him because we have a raised bed and I had a lot of fears that something would happen to him. In hindsight, I regretted not co-sleeping (it was so much harder having him sleeping in crib). 2 years later when I got pregnant again, I redid all the research of co-sleeping options and found myself back at the Humanity Family Bed. I'm so happy I went with this product. Co-sleeping has been amazing and the Humanity Co-Sleeper is perfect. I don't have any fears that he will slip out or it will move (like some of the other co-sleeping options). I read a review that the fabric was rough, but I find it very soft and quite pleasant to sleep on. I haven't had any problems with it bunching, as another review said. It is very easy to pull off and wash or roll up and place at the bottom of the bed or top. We have a large bed, so the size of the pillow is perfect. What I've spent in money, I've saved in peace of mind and extra hours of comfortable co-sleeping. I would highly recommend it as an option (although also recommend shopping around for prices).

We use this in our bed and love it. I like having the baby on my side instead of the middle so the covers don't get tossed over her. The flannel is very cozy for us to sleep on and it is easy to wash. Highly recommended for all co-sleeping parents.

I bought 2. They have good back support, but not head rests. Each chair came with its own set of instructions, and each had different instructions with different parts and tools. Once put together, the 2 chairs matched well.

The chairs are a little shorter in height than I hoped, and the pillow rests are more for decoration. The chairs are not bulky and look neat. The swivel and recline features work well.

The price was too high. I found them cheaper elsewhere but once the order was placed at Amazon, it could not be cancelled.

The chair is good, but the instructions for putting it together are inadequate. There are two drawings of the chair and two of the stool that you have to work with. there is not one written word of instruction. I ordered two chairs and the second went together much faster, except for two things I had two right arms for one of the chairs and had put the arms on the other chair backwards. The later caused the opening between the chairs to be small. The arms were labeled R and L, but does R refer to the right side as you are sitting in the chair or facing the chair?

The chairs were received at the end of January. The company has ordered me a replacement arm from the factory in China that will get here sometime in March.

This pillow arrived very nicely packaged. It includes an exterior blue plaid pillowcase and is well made. It is extremely firm as the buckwheat is densely packed. I believe some can be removed but it looked a bit tricky. Unfortunately for me, the formaldehyde odor was overwhelming and caused my eyes to burn like crazy to the point of waking me up at night. Many fabrics (including Pottery Barn duvet covers) are treated with formaldehyde so that the fabric will stay crisp and unwrinkled for packaging. This is not uncommon in the textile industry. I washed the outer pillow case and the odor went away but there was no way to wash the other inner layers without completely removing all of the buckwheat, which I have yet to do. This may not be an issue for some people but if you've ever lived in a new house with new carpet, or new particle board cabinets, etc., and found your eyes dry and burning for no apparent reason it's due to the formaldehyde. This has nothing to do with the buckwheat. It's the same problem they had with the trailers FEMA set up for Hurricane Katrina survivors. Otherwise it is an almost perfect pillow. Remove some buckwheat to make it pliable instead of rigid and it would be very comfortable.

After the first nite using the pillow I had to take out some filling, as the pillow was too stiff. Double zipper feature works great. The size was perfect for me. The pillow does support your neck. Was worried about hearing sounds from the buckwheat....nope. No smell! The pillow lays flat and doesn't move around. It's been almost a week now....and I like the pillow. Not too hard and not too soft.

The pillow is packed very well, with a high-quality plastic bag and a beautiful pillow cover! Also I am surprised to find it is from a luxury brand in Asia. This bowl was super ineffective I gave my daughter some shredded mozzarella cheese in (she loves the stuff) and only minutes later as she sat on the floor there was a huge mess. We had bed bugs and went through a number of mattress covers before finding some that fit our twin box springs. The cases designed for twin mattresses were all too small. They fit our twin mattress box springs with no problem. They have more stretch in them than the others that we tried and seem more durable. If I had to do it over again, I would have bought this brand for our King-Size mattress as well. We paid an arm and a leg for it at Bed Bath and Beyond. I would recommend this companies products for any one trying to control bed bugs.

We cured our bed bug problem by spreading diatomaceous earth around the room to keep them in the bedroom and all around the edge of the bed emphasizing the base of the bedframe. I slept in the bed because I do not react to their bites like my wife does. I laid a sheet on the top of the mattress cover and rolled up the edges and then put a layer of diatomaceous earth (organic D.E. from Amazon to avoid the silicates in pool-grade diatomaceous earth, purchased at Home Depot)at the edges of the sheet so they had to crawl over diatomaceous earth to get to me. We used standard diatomaceous earth on the floor. I washed the sheets in hot water every morning as soon as I got up. It was a dusty mess for 6-7 weeks but we could track the number of bed bugs decreasing until they finally stopped. I kept up the routine for a couple of more weeks and we finally backed off. We purchased Beddy Bug bait(VCM products, sold by Amazon) to see if we saw any more bed bugs and we haven't seen any since.

I bought this box spring encasesment because of all the good reviews, and unfortunatley it appears to have not worked for me. However, this does not mean that it's a bad set, therefore I am giving it a fair review and a note to buyers:

Be Mindful of Air Pockets When you put this on your box spring, do not zip it up all the way untill you are sure it is on as tight as can be. An air pocket left over when zippering this thing up can cause it to "pop" when you lay your mattress on-top of it. Perhaps there were instructions that came with it warning you of this, but I just don't recall this. Stupidly, I should have returned it upon hearing the "pop" but I didn't, so that part of it is on me.

Therefore, had I put this on correctly, perhaps I wouldn't be having a problem now however I hope that this review helps you. It may be a good product, its just that you need to be careful how you put it on, and do not use it for "low profile" box springs.

The two stars I took off were for a lack of warning / instruction on how to put it on a thinner box spring.

The three stars I did give are because it seemes like a good product, and I think it would work if put on correctly but can't be sure in my case.

When I purchased my mattress and box spring I wanted to buy encasements to protect them against liquids and bed bugs ( I traveled a lot, so just in case I bring one home). So that's why the box spring encasement is cheaper than the mattress one.

Not to make this review too long, I ended up saving money buying the products here on amazon ( I know, as I mentioned on my other review I feel bad for that helpful sales guy, but what can I do?!)

Anyways, I am fully satisfied with my decision and I feel safe about my mattress too.

I bought the box encasement for my mattress and was worried that A) it wouldn't fit, and B) it would rip while I was putting it on. Neither happened! It's this wonderful stretchy material and it went on pretty easily. You open it all the way up like a book and fit it around the box encasement (or in my case, the mattress). I was pretty surprised! But my body wasn't made for exercise so I was of course exhausted after putting it on that I just fell onto the bed.

I am so glad we bought! They are beautiful and look expensive, but very reasonably priced. I also like that the ruffles add a little dimension to the look of the bed when it is made up.

These pillows are very pretty, and seem to be of higher quality than the price would indicate, but I ordered "Wine" on the basis of the photo, and it's not even close. I was looking for a plum/eggplant color, and the photo definitely shows what I was looking for. The pillows are very red, and will not work for the intended purpose. I may re-order ivory, but I'm a little gun-shy now.

These pillows are lovely, great quality, so pretty. They are the perfect accent pillow for my room, I pair them with pillows of different colors, sometimes pink, sometimes red and they work perfectly.

I was impressed with the quality of the set. It was well put together and looks like it would last a while. However, it is a deeper purple/plum than it appears in the photo. The solid color fabric looked almost blackish indoors. I think you would need a VERY bright room to bring out the lavendar sheen that you see in the photo. I ended up returning for that reason and because it was not quite wide enough for the really deep mattress I was putting it on. The sheets were peeking out beneath on both sides. But if you have a regular mattress I don't think that would be a problem. Just keep in mind that it's a deeper color, and what looks like stitching around the flowers is just part of the pattern. But I would definitely think about buying this brand again, based on the quality for the price.

We were very happy to find such a good bargain on a king comforter. I think the color matches the picture and it goes very well in our room. The comforter is the correct size for our bed and we have the thicker box spring. I love the look of it when i enter our room as it adds color and class. For the price and the free shipping there is no where else that compared with it. Overstock,Kohls and a couple other online stores had the set but for more money. Fast shipping and it was packaged well. Wasn't all wrinkled when it was unpacked. We do take it off the bed each night for 2 reasons, right now it has been too hot for it and two, it does need to be drycleaned so we will try keep it clean. Looks great! Only problem I am having is finding curtains or drapes to match.

I ordered a full set for my antique bed, and it's really large, both in length and width. (I've used queen sheets on the bed and they're way bigger than those.) Also, first use they were very slippery, a bit better now that I put them through the washer on "hand wash" setting: they do say they have to be hand-washed which would be quite a chore in a sink! For the price, I'd say skip this one.
