Just remember to follow drying instructions and dry on super low heat and unclump it during drying cycle! We moved recently and I ruined our old mattress protector in the new gas dryer because it runs hotter than our old dryer.I've used every brand and this is by far my favorite. It adds to the mattress, feeling like a thin mattress pad, and is so easy to put on (waaaay easier than non-stretchy sheets). I've never heard a sound from it. I know I'm not supposed to but I've routinely dried the protector on high heat and have had no problems; I haven't made the same error in wash but by the sounds of it, I'll be careful to not. We've had this protector for three years and it has endured plenty of waterproof tests by way of our young children. Finally, in the last three years it has slightly pilled but we can't feel it and I'm sensitive to that sort of thing...not bad considering we use it every day.
Couldn't recommend it enough!I got this to cover my new memory foam mattress, I did not want something too thick or plush since I still wanted to have a good feel for the memory foam itself. This is exactly what I was looking for at an exceptional price. The cover is low profile without being this and cheap feeling. It makes zero noise once it is on the mattress and has a good texture very similar to the cover that came on my tempurpedic pillow. It fits snugly over the entire deep 12" mattress with a 2" topper on it as well, plenty of space for a thicker mattress too, but without being loose once on. Some of the reviews mentioned it "grabbed" I don't know if they put it on backwards or did not use sheets on top of it, but there was no issue with that at all. Another review mentioned it had a terrible chemical smell, I opened this indoors and the cover was completely scentless right out of the bag. I trusted a review that said "This is the mattress cover you want" and I'm glad I did, it is exactly what I was looking for.I bought this for help against dust mite allergy, but upon opening the wrapping, noticed a strong, toxic-smelling odor. Many people with allergy troubles may also have MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities). A strong, industrial smell like fresh foam rubber/vinyl/solvent is present in the new material.
The smell was harsh enough to promt taking it outside at once, to not let it continue to outgas inside. This "newly processed" odor is not something one wants developing children/ sick/vunerable people to inhale. Just taking this out of the package indoors made me feel the need to air out the house (and I did).
The odor is much reduced after washing and machine drying (on low heat to not melt it). I recommend washing it as many times as needed, until the odor is gone, before using.
