This is what I wanted: A comfortable lap desk that can keep my computer from overheating on my legs (or on my comforter if I'm working in bed).

From studying a billion reviews, a lot of people complained about the lap desks with fans breaking down easily. So, I finally disqualified them all. The cushy Belkin seems to too bulky (for travel for instance) and apparently worsens the heat.

At the end of the day, I just needed something economical and practical. And this is it. One reviewer mentioned that the material "flexes" and "lets the laptop easily slide". Not true in my opinion. It's got just a little give but nothing that would make it unstable at all. The rubber guard in the front of the lap desk is great plus the small rubber discs underneath my laptop help keep my computer firmly in place. If anything, you can add more friction using Self-Adhesive Rubber Bumper Pads. But I haven't found that necessary in my case. Lastly, the cushion underneath is a foam material with good thickness.

This cost me $19.99 at the time of my purchase. If you too are looking for something plainly functional and the highest quality for the best price, this is the lap desk for you!

Definitely worth the money you have spent on this product.My requirement was to keep me away from the heat my computer generates and this product definitely serves that purpose. The other stuff I loved about the product is

1) This lapdesk is reversible where both sides could be used.The cushion part allows you to work with your Mouse, most of the other lap desks doesn't allow you to use mouse while using the lapdesk.

2) Space to keep your laptop battery is a cool option

3) Light weight

4) Space for air flow will keep your laptop from overheating.

I bought the Cooler Master Choiix lap pad to help my wife with her very heavy 17" laptop (the extended battery that hangs down is very hard on the knees). The foam underside of this stiff, plastic lap pad is comfortable, and the laptop's extended battery hangs down in the trough at the back of the pad. Recommended, especially for large, heavy laptops.

The pad is wide enough and deep enough for a 17" laptop, and yet fits between the arms of a recliner chair. It also has rubber nubs that help hold the laptop in place. A smaller laptop would swim on this thing, but a lighter laptop would not be so unwieldy to handle, so I suppose it would even things out.

I wish that I could have given this product 5 Stars, but it really fell short of my expectations. From the photos, it appears to be made of thick plastic and should provide a stable work surface. In fact, the plastic is very thin (not much more that 1/16''), and not at all rigid enough to keep it from flexing. The surface is slick, and the two rubber "dots" that are supposed to supply some grip are placed so wide apart, that a 15" laptop fits between them with 1" space on either side. The rubber ridge along the front that is intended to keep the laptop from sliding off the front edge is not tall enough, and it's rounded profile lets the laptop easily slide over the top it. This problem is compounded by the fact that the surface is not rigid and as it flexes, the laptop will gradually "walk" over the top of it. If you are intending to use this as a "riser" on a desk or stable work surface, it will work pretty well. Unfortunately, it's just too flimsy to work well on your lap.

I typically like to use my laptop in bed since the weather is cooling down. When I place my Mac Air on the bed it would tend to overheat because it doesn't have ventilation and my body would ache from laying in a certain position to type on my laptop. After shifting my body over and over, I have decided to buy this lap desk from Cooler Master. Now I can just lay against the headboard and use the Mac Air on my lap desk which is definitely more comfortable than laying on your side and typing to type with neck and back aches. There is a slot in the back where i keep my iPhone and iPad so it is pretty functional. So far so good, but I hope they make a new version of this soon with maybe some more features.
