Boppy Pregnancy Wedge with Cotton Slipcover

Boppy Pregnancy Wedge with Cotton SlipcoverI bought this pillow around 18 weeks because I didn't like the inflexibility of body pillows (which always stay the same shape) or that reviewers complained that the stuffing in the big pillows shifts around inside.

I do like this wedge a lot and will not travel without it because it defeinately takes the weight off my back by pushing up my tummy. I reccomend having a couple of other pillows though, one behind the back (to keep you from rolling over on your back while you are asleep) one under your head and one or two between your legs. This ends up being alot of pillows but they are more flexible than the body pillows and a lot cheaper. I can also throw this in a suitcase or take it to the living room for a nap or watching television on the couch, which I couldn't do with a larger pregnancy pillow. It is also comfortable to sit on (as is the regular boppy pillow) if you are on the floor for some reason or sitting up in bed.

UPDATE not so hot after about month 7 or 8. I think this was great in the beginning, but don't expect it to solve your pregnancy related discomfort for the entire pregnancy.

I bought this despite hearing that it is too hard, and now I wish I would have listened. I am in the last half of my 2nd trimester, so maybe I'll use it more later, but for now it works best for back support when I'm sitting on the couch. When I have used it for sleeping I wake up with a sore abdomen, because the wedge is hard. I also have a snoogle pillow, and find that it works better alone, instead combined with the wedge. I hope the manufacturer will improve upon this wedge by making it with a material more like memory foam, which would make it softer, but still supportive. I am only 5'2", with a very short abdomen, so maybe the wedge made me sore because it went under my ribs, which were the most tender when I woke up.

This cushion has to be the best deal out there in terms of pregnancy pillows at least for women in their 3rd trimester. I paid a lot more mid-pregnancy for a big "Snoozer" body pillow that has been in storage for several months now. For several weeks before buying the Boppy, I was waking up repeatedly with a lot of lower back and hip pain even though I was using a regular pillow to support my belly. With Boppy, I'm now sleeping much better and with a lot less back pain. I just wish I had tried it earlier!

I'm just a husband with a first time pregnant wife. So this whole ordeal is completely new to us.

My wife was complaining about a hurting back, because our couches were too soft, at 10 weeks. She also has a slight scoliosis problem.

The makers of this item really named the wedge poorly. I refuse to call it "the boppy" or "boppy wedge". In fact the bad name has kept me from referring this product to co-workers because I'm too manly to use the word boppy in a sentence out loud.

However that being said, this thing works great! She takes it everywhere with her couch, bed, train, plane, even both our parent's houses. It is the only thing that gives her relief.

As a funny anecdote: Before we had this wedge, my wife tried to sleep on top of a hot water bottle. Yup you guessed it. POP! Flood in the bed!

So husbands do yourself a favor get this for your wife, before she tries to invent one herself.

This pillow is awesome! I used it a little my first trimester but by the end of my second trimester it was a must, even when napping on the couch! It has really held up a lot better than I thought it would, I guess the 'dense foam' really is pretty dense. I like that it's small & lightweight so I can readjust it easily throughout the night.

I am now in my third trimester and I recently picked up a second boppy wedge to place behind my back both for comfort and to prevent me from rolling onto my back during the night.

Since this is my first pregnancy and I haven't grown too much (about a 20 lb gain so far) the size is perfect for me. I'm not sure how well it might work for women with more prominent bellies, though.

ATTENTION ALLERGY SUFFERERS: An added bonus is that this pillow is small enough to put inside a standard size allergy barrier pillowcase! That's something you can't do with any of the popular body pillows on the market!
