About a month ago I bought a Simmons Beautyrest Mattress cover and it's horrible (http://www.amazon.com/Simmons-Beautyrest-Mattress-Makeover-Jacquard/dp/B000BI22H0/ref=cm_cr-mr-title). The sides were like paper. As a result, the sheets shifted when you slept and each time you changed the sheets, if you weren't careful, the paper-like sides would tear. So here we are, a month late, and we need a mattress pad for a king bed. You can rest assured I wasn't going to by a Simmons. I read a lot of reviews and chose this one specifically because people said the sides were fabric. They were right! The mattress cover has real fabric sides that won't tear apart simply by everyday use (or washing). The sides are very accommodating if you have a thick mattress (we don't, but there is plenty of room for a thicker mattress). We've used it for a week now and the sheets haven't budged (even though there is extra space on the sides. That was a concern of mine once it arrived).

The top (the part you'd lay on) is not super plush or pillowly. Luxurious is not a word I'd use for it. It's solid, well made, protects the mattress. For us, that's fine I wasn't looking for a cushion-like cover. In my opinion, if you are looking for a mattress pad that will give you a pillow-like top that makes a difference you need to look at mattress pads closer to the $100 price range.

This mattress pad has a sturdy yet soft cotton on top with a cushy polyfill(?) pad. The pad is not enough to negate a poor mattress, but it certainly adds extra comfort to a good one! The skirt is real fabric, not the paper-like material seen on other mattress pads. I think the skirt is a polyester nylon blend. Overall, this mattress pad is worth every penny. If I need a replacement for the guest room, I'm buying this!

We've had this on our bed for a week now and so far I've been very impressed. It is soft, but not so soft that you sink in too much; I was concerned that since we already have a pillowtop mattress, that the addition of this pad would make it too soft and we'd end up waking up with sore backs, but the opposite has been true. We got this because we previously had nothing between our bedsheet and our waterproof mattress protector, which didn't breathe at all, so if one of us got a little warm in the night, we'd wake up sweaty and the sheets wouldn't dry out all night, as gross as that sounds. This pad has been just the fix. High quality, around the same price as the lower quality versions at Walmart or Target, and is very deep-fittingno trouble at all fitting our thick mattress. I highly recommend it!

Very nice -love the 300-count cotton top, and the slightly cushioned feel. I was looking for a mattress pad with sides/skirting that would not disintegrate, like the typical tissue-like material most manufacturers use these days. This one has nice, stretchy synthetic fabric with an elastic band at the bottom, and looks like it should be quite durable.

I bought this mattress pad after reading countless reviews on Amazon. Many people mention that this down alternative mattress pad was incredibly durable as well as comfortable. After receiving it earlier this week I figured it must have been pretty thick because of the box it shipped in. However, when I opened it, it was clear the mattress pad itself is very thin. Not much thicker than a nice set of sheets. It does feel very durable and well made, however it's just not very comfortable. Returning it for a better pad.
