received the mink-like blanket as a gift and use it for my office sofa. It is very regal looking, heavy, and warm. I read the one star review that described a shedding problem. I have not seen a single particle of any kind shed from this blanket. I plan to buy another one and send it as a gift to a relative. Some things to note: the color is very dark brown, almost black. It is a two-tone color where the lighter browns can be seen at the shorter base fur, and the dark almost black fur is longer and at the surface. I am not a fur owner and never have been so I do not know what real mink looks like. If someone were to tell me that this blanket was real mink I would not doubt them. It looks and feels real.

Let me start by saying this is a fantastic throw!WHAT WE LOVE:
QUALITY...it is amazing and exceeded my expectations!
The reverse side is soft and luxurious...something you don't mind against your skin.
The throw is just as warm as you would hope without being so heavy that you get too hot.
The mink side is beautiful and looks just like the picture. We got the dark brown and let me tell you, in dim light it looks almost black...it is a very rich looking brown.
This is our second throw (the other is leopard) and I want you to know...we have had ZERO shedding. We almost didn't buy these because of what some reviewers were saying about really bad shedding...not our experience!
Generous size! Go for the larger one...very worth it and keeps toes covered!
WHAT COULD BE BETTER:
While the mink on this throw IS SOFT...the 'Fur' is longer...so take this for what it's worth, I find the hair is uncomfortable on my neck or face. It's not that it tickles as much as pokes, if that makes sense.
One thing that IS TRUE from some other reviewers is that when the throw arrives, it has a strong, I'll call it 'Warehouse' smell. Not musty, but almost a dusty smell (no, it's not dusty, just smells that way). Now the Leopard throw, the smell went away after a week. The Mink for some reason still smells a little two months later. It is much more diminished now, but still present. Perhaps a dry cleaning will alleviate this issue.
That is what you need to know. Great quality, minor issues. I would get this 60% for Looks and 40% for coziness. The Leopard throw is super soft on BOTH sides and a much more cozy throw...that would be my choice if comfort is your primary goal.

After viewing some of these throws at a stores recently (at 3X the price and up), I decided to give this a try. I was shocked at it's weight and beauty. It is VERY heavy and would be perfect for anyone in colder temperatures. I don't use it as a cover up, but as casually-tossed-on-the-furniture (and then draped artistically) decor. The color is beautiful, and since it's dark and in a dimly lit room, it definitely looks and feels real. The lining is also a super-soft velvety suede-y type material. This is the 4th faux fur throw (yeah, I'm going through a phase) I've bought on Amazon and I'm truly amazed at the beauty and quality of faux these days! We did take it out on the deck for a good shaking before bringing in the house as in any of these faux furs or real furs, for that matter(I've had a white fox coat for 40 years, and it still sheds!) With these faux pieces, I suspect it's from cutting the material to the right size, but it wasn't excessive by any means. Dry cleaning is "recommended", but I would say it's a must. First of all, I don't have a washer large enough for it....it's that big! (I got the 60x86). Really stunning, and I recommend it to my friends who compliment it!
