Also, the pillow has a strong, unpleasant, chemical smell when you first get it. Tempur-pedic says the smell goes away after a "short while" of regular use. My pillow continued to smell bad for months.
I may keep this pillow around as a spare, but I don't use it. I prefer a regular pillow.

I have been sleeping on this pillow for about 6 weeks. I bought it due to a neck injury. It was comfortable from day one and my neck was better within days and eventually recovered. It is slightly softer than the traditional neck pillow which I find really helps to relieve pressure points but each side is shaped slightly different to accommodate sleeping in different positions. I suggest turning the pillow over so there is an even distribution of weight on both sides. It's ok for sleeping on your back, but much better for side sleepers. I agree there is a smell but much milder than the harder Tempur pillows and something that eventually fades. For the first few weeks it helps to air the pillow and covers out every few days. 1-2 water-resistant terry cloth covers layered over each other has helped alot and also prevents dust mites. The company claims that the cover that comes with the pillow is dust mite proof, but if the cover is not helping with the smell it definitely isn't dust mite proof either. For what it has done to help my neck, I would gladly take what is a mild smell-but yes, it can trigger allergies when it is brand new and not aired out properly. My only criticism would be the sales help in stores which was quite unknowledgeable of the product. The company did recommend several stores that they said might be more helpful, but in the end all their recommendations were poor. I spent more of my time out of the stores and on the website with their customer service until I finally had enough questions answered that I felt confident trying the pillow out in a mattress store. There are many varieties of Tempur-pedic pillows and it is extremely important that you find the right fit and degree of hardness/softness. I suggest the Symphony Pillow, for a "medium" hardness that is softer than the traditional neck pillow. I also suggest the Queen size over the standard size which gives more arm room and comfort when turning over on your side.Update:Four months later, the pillow is fantastic and has kept it's shape.

I've been using this pillow for over a year now. I have water resistant soft covers on mine and have had them on since the beginning, which is maybe why I have never been bothered by the smell others have noticed. It's very comfortable for laying on the side and back, although ideally to reach its full comfort potential, you must flip the pillow over depending on what position you're in. It's true this pillow is not the best for stomach sleeping. Before my Symphony pillow I was a dedicated goose down pillow owner. I loved the cushy softness of those, but the tempurpedic definitely offers better neck and head support. While not sleeping, this pillow works well as a back rest when sitting in bed. It is a little heavy, looks decent in pillow shams. Overall I am satisfied with this pillow.Want The Symphony Pillow Standard Size 25" x 17" x 5.5" by Tempur-Pedic Discount?
Tempur-pedic puts a sticker on the pillow that says it has a slight odor, and that's the understatement of the century. Upon opening the bag, the smell permeated the entire house, and triggered my allergies. It feels comfortable enough to lay on for a few seconds, but that's about all I can stand, and in the mean time it's smelling up the entire house. Maybe I need to leave it in the garage for a few months, but the directions say you need to "use it normally" to eliminate the smell (maybe they mean get used to it), and also I hate to smell up the garage or the car.I received this pillow from my wife as a birthday present because I complained about having pillows which were too soft and didn't offer enough support. (we had all cheap pillows which flatten out after a few months)Upon trying this pillow out it was initially comfortable, soft to the touch but once you settle in it becomes uncomfortable and incredibly stiff. The pillow is too big and puts pressure on your neck. It woke me up 3 nights in a row and gave me neck cramps. In addition I couldn't seem to get comfortable again because of the pillow's stiffness after shifting position. Also, the symphony shape supports lying on your back on one side, but not on your side as the edge droops off depending on what side you use. In addition the initial factory smell which is supposed to go away is not so appealing.
It is unfortunate that they are nonreturnable/nonexchangeable because I would have done it already. NASA technology may work being blasted into space at 10 gs but not in the comfort of the bedroom. After this I will not try out a bed from them.
