The "maroon" color is definitely more of a "dark rust." The tag on the pillows themselves says "rust" so I don't know why they're listed as maroon on here. Plus they do not have any gold accenting on them at all. Thankfully, my decor is such that these will still be OK, but this wouldn't work for everyone. Quality overall seems good. I could likely use these and change the covers for quite some time.
