Vintage Treasure Quilted Bedspread

This bedspread is very pretty. The head of the bedspread that covers the pillows is plain, so I am glad I ordered the shams and would highly recommend spending the extra money for them. I washed the bedspread in warm water and dried it in the dryer. It did shrink a little bit--probably an inch or two. That was actually OK, because it was dragging on the floor. But, if I would have been thinking, I would have washed it first in cold water. So, make sure you put it on your bed before washing it! And use cold water if you don't want it to shrink (it is cotton). I am not one to purchase on-line, but I'm really glad I did!

This quilted bedspread is really quite pretty. However, as soon as I took it out of the plastic bag, I was overwhelmed by a smell similar to that of machine oil. It was so caustic that my eyes teared. I washed it, following the directions and using a full level of laundry detergent. When the wash and rinse cycle were finished, the bedspread still had that terrible smell. I am in the process of washing the bedspread for a second time, just hoping that with repeated washings the bedspread will lose its eye-watering, odorous vapor without showing signs of wear.
