Chillgel Original Cool Slumber Pad

This works for about 15-20 minutes, then the gel begins to equal your body temperature, and you spend the rest of the night sleeping on hot plastic, not an ideal way to keep cool. I still woke with sweat stains on my pillow. I do not recommend these gel pillows for an all-night cool.

I just bought this item and was skeptical. It works. I have not ever come across any time like this.

Bought the Chill Gel Slumber Pad hoping that it would keep the pillow much cooler so I could sleep better. It works in a fashion I suppose as it does dissipate your body heat but I actually need it to stay colder than it does. So basically if you aren't looking for something to keep your pillow cold then this is a good pad for your pillow.

I gave this a 4 Star because I do like it. However, a word to the wise before you buy, it's very cold on the face and ear if you are a side sleeper like myself. Now if you sleep on your back it's feels good on the neck though still cold to the head. I think it would be wonderful if you had a temp. When I saw this, I thought it would be great for occasional night sweats, and because it says 'cool'...it's Cold!

Now that I have the Beds Up Insert fully assembled and have installed it on my queen-size bed, I am pretty satisfied with the product. It does what it's supposed to do.

It comes with 3 different height adjustments: 2, 4 and 6 inches. I chose the 4 inch adjustment. I slept on the bed for the first time last night with the Beds Up Insert installed, and to be honest, when I was lying in bed I couldn't detect that the bed was on an incline. That's because there is no curve or bend in the mattress. The device is placed under the box spring. It fits on top of/inside the regular bed frame -using your original bed frame as its base. You lie flat on the bed, but the head of the bed is raised. So, it's really a great concept.

When you're standing by the side of the bed, however, it's quite obvious that the head of the bed is raised. Four inches doesn't sound like much, but believe me, it's significant when you're looking at the bed from the side. Be prepared that your bedspread/bedskirt will be lifted off the floor at the head of the bed. So, it's not the most attractive looking sight. But, if you're highly motivated to elevate the head of your bed, it's worth it. In my case, I've got a bad case of GERD, so I'm motivated. I've tried using blocks and bunching multiple pillows at the head of the bed. Those solutions aren't very satisfactory. This device is a much more logical method of dealing with the situation.

The construction of the materials provided is solid and just as durable as the original bed frame. I don't fear that it's going to collapse under our weight (although, on the other hand, I'm not going to tempt fate by doing jumping jacks on the bed, either!).My major complaint about this product is the absolutely abysmal documentation that comes packed inside the box. There is a one-page set of instructions for assembling the device. In the shipping box that I received, it had been thrown inside the box along with all of the hardware, and by the time I pulled it out of the box, it was a crumpled, ripped mess. I did the best job I could to flatten it out and I used scotch tape to mend the rips, then I placed it in my flat-bed scanner and printed it out. So, I at least had a document I could read.

There are no meaningful step-by-step instructions for assembly provided by the manufacturer. There is one diagram of the assembled device, with some numbers pointing to a few strategic points on the diagram. There's no parts list. No labeling of parts. No close up diagrams of each step in the assembly process. It's just a mess of parts and you're left to your own instincts/skills to figure it out.

I'm not a novice when it comes to assembling furniture. I've bought a ton of these sorts of "assemble at home" kits over the years. I'm pretty handy and mechanically inclined. But, I've never seen anything like this before. When I first pulled everything out of the box and organized all of the pieces and fasteners, I was panicked for several minutes. I honestly had no idea what to do. The so-called instructions were almost worthless.

I managed to put the thing together by just using my mechanical ability and experience in assembling other kits. My wife is more spatially-gifted than I am, so I enlisted her help in getting the piles of hardware to resemble the finished-piece illustration provided by the manufacturer. I must say, however, that it shouldn't have been this difficult. Surely they could have found someone who could put together even some rudimentary step-by-step instructions. I would have even been happy with the mangled English instructions often found in Japanese/Chinese product documentation.

One other thing that really made me crazy is that there were so many pieces of hardware left over after I completed the assembly. I've never had that happen before. With other assemble-at-home kits, every piece of hardware is used. They give you the EXACT number of screws, bolts, clamps, etc. that you will need. No more, no less. It was quite disconcerting to end up with all sorts of screws and bolts that I never needed. What was that all about? I am sure, however, that I've got it all put together so it's structurally sound. Nonetheless, it's pretty strange to have multiple pieces of excess hardware left over.

When I finally got the device fully built and installed, I was really relieved. I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to pull it off.

As I said earlier, I'm satisfied with the finished product.

One other thing, be sure to shop around for the best price. There are large differences in price for this product on the web.

After years of being told that i needed to elevate my best to better control my gastric reflux, i finally decided to take action. I first tried using bricks under the front bed posts, but that was unslightly and was harming the bed frame. So I researched my options and discovered Beds Up. I was able to install the insert in about two hours and the insert adjusted easily to the size of my bed. My sleep is better and my reflux much improved. This product is designed well and does the job.

I purchased the Beds Up Insert 2 weeks ago to help my fight against Gerd. It was the smartest purchase I ever made. I have moderate gerd symptoms so I picked the 4 inch option, I no longer have the reflux at night and my wife says I do not snore at all. I didn't want to buy a wedge pillow because I don't want to bend at the hip when I sleep. The Beds Up Insert was easy for me to construct there is an online guide at Youtube that explains the setup step by step. As a bonus I have cut my PPI dosage in half and hope to be off the drugs altogether by the end of this month. The Insert will pay for its self in no time.

Update: 3-28-2012: I have been off the PPI's since February 24th and I have had no breakthrough, not one instance of reflux. Buy this now if you have gerd symptoms it will pay for itself in no time.

It takes a bit to get used to the look of the bed raised at its new angle, but the solution is so much better than blocks to raise the head of the bed. I'm hopeful that I will be able to handle my gerd without so much medication. I thought I might need some time to get used to sleeping on it, but the first night (and ever since) I slept like a baby!

I will just re-iterate what the other reviewers have said, in that this product is very, very solid. Once it is assembled, it just sits on top of your bed frame. My only criticism is that the instructions are terrible. A single sheet of paper with an exploded diagram and 6 somewhat cryptic sentences. If you are handy and can extrapolate from the diagram, you can figure it out, but the manufacturer certainly should do a better job with the assembly instructions. It took me a lot longer to assemble because of trying to figure out what to do. The center support is something I still haven't got in place correctly, since it consists of several pieces and there is no information at all on how these are supposed to fit together, and I still haven't been able to figure it out. I'll also mention that the use of this product will increase the height of your bed noticeably. Mine is now too high, as my legs no longer reach the floor when I am sitting on the edge of the bed. But since the Beds Up frame is complete in itself as far as supporting the boxspring and mattress, I'm just going to get rid of my original metal frame and put the Beds Up directly on the bedroom floor (with three padded 2X4s placed laterally underneath it). That should lower the bed about six inches, to a more normal height.

Chasing after a good night's sleep has become somewhat of a slight obsession especially after developing arthritis in my neck. The right pillow makes all the difference. Over the years I've purchased just about every pillow known to mankind many which were very expensive; hand-stuffed down pillows from Cuddledown, memory foam (ugh the heat!), buckwheat (puffy face allergy prone), spun gel (like trying to sleep on a sponge)...you name it, I've tried them.

I've also tried different shapes, sizes and sleeping positions. The bottom line is that it's not easy to find a great pillow. Until Z by Malouf! Over a year ago I purchased four of their formed talalay pillows the odor was a bit overwhelming at first but once aired out, they provided a superb level of support combined with comfort. They have held up well and perform perfectly but I actually prefer the shredded talalay for the ability to position it "just right".

When this shredded talalay became available I ordered two king size pillows which arrived quickly, encased in the very nice carrier. Unlike the prior pillows, the odor from these wasn't as bad although a good airing is probably still in order. These do not come with a removable cover although the outside of the pillow itself is a comfortable material (bamboo according to the label). The king size is a bit odd shaped in that it is long but not as wide as anticipated. I will be ordering more in the queen size due to this variation.

Aside from the slightly odd sizing of the king size, this is an exceptional deal! Shredded talalay isn't easy to find (none of my local stores seem to carry it) and when ordering via catalog or online, the cost tends to be high. This compares very favorably to the pillows used at Weston for their dream beds for those searching for a general type of comparison...it's a bit firmer which I actually like as the extra support helps with the neck pain.

For those that suffer from allergies (other than latex), this is a GREAT option! Feather pillows and buckwheat tend to leave me puffy, others with a heavy chemical can actually cause a cough and congestion. This is natural talaly, tends to resist mites and other common causes of allergies. Just remember, the talalay is NOT appropriate for those with a latex allergy!!!!

Finally, for those with a neck problem this pillow is the best solution I've encountered to date. Unlike feather pillows that pack down during the night, this remains supportive throughout the entire evening, reducing the angles that often lead to pinched nerves, circulation problems and pain. Unlike gel or foam that is often "too fluffy", this still allows compression so the head and neck are held at a natural angle.

Although I purchased these specifically due to neck problems, my spouse who has no such issues absolutely loves the pillows as well. Bottom line fantastic pillow, fantastic price!

UPDATE Ordered four more queen sized pillows which arrived with a zipper case. Unsure why the king size didn't but wanted to update review to indicate the inclusion of a nice zippered case for the queen size.

Let me start by saying this is the first review I have ever posted on Amazon,even though I've bought tons of stuff on here.... This pillow was bad enough, I didn't want others to waste their money on this cheap pillow. I received this Z by Malouf 100% Natural Shredded Talalay Latex Pillow with Bamboo Cover from LinenSpa(CVB Inc.) on May 23, 2012. I took it out of the plastic case and the smell was horrible. I then took it out of the bamboo cover, which is not even bamboo it says rayon on the packaging (false advertising) and washed it by hand and let it air dry, to try to get rid of the smell. I put the pillow in a different room to air out.

After leaving the pillow to air out for a while I thought it would smell better. The pillow made my eyes itch and gave me a horrible headache. As another reviewer commented "it smells like rubber tires". It has a really bad chemical smell. It does NOT smell like 100% natural talay latex as it states. I have a 100% natural talalay latex bed and it never smelled like this. I know what 100% natural talay latex smells like and this is not it.

Upon closer inspection I felt some hard spots and something that felt sharp. I took some of the stitching out so I could look inside the pillow to see what was really in there. I found a TWIG, yes a TWIG. Seriously!!! If that wasn't bad enough, it does not appear to be 100% natural talalay latex. It looks like cheap foam that was recycled from used pillows or mattresses. This is NOT at all a quality pillow, or even a cheap pillow that can be used.

Also, the pillow measures 16" x 35". A normal King size pillow measures 20" x 36", so this pillow is a very weird size and not at all a standard size. It also does not have much filling the amount of filling in it would be ok it if were a Queen size. Shredded latex pillows are great, but NOT this one!

Would NEVER recommend!!! Very CHEAP! I returned it the morning after I received it. As always, Amazon has a great return policy!

Great pillows for the price. I use these shredded latex pillows with two regular solid latex pillows. It gives me the variety I want when I'm sleeping.

The only reason I am giving these 4 stars instead of 5, is because I still prefer my solid latex pillows for support. I know it's a matter of opinion, but I prefer these to my tempurpedic pillows.

I would like to address a few of the negatives that I have read on the comments.

1) The smell. I didn't have any issue with the smell of these. It might be eye opening to someone who has never used foam pillows, but it is nothing compared to the smell of my tempurpedic pillows. The smell from these is more natural, and no where near as strong. Memory foam pillows completely overwhelmed my bedroom for about 2 days, then the smell was still there for about 5-7 days. Washing the pillow case that comes with the pillow will dramatically reduce the smell of these. With that said, the people complaining about the smell might have received pillows that smelled stronger than mine, so I am in no way saying that it is not possible for the smell to be stronger than the two pillows I received.

2) The bamboo cover that is made from rayon. I understand that some people might be alarmed to find that a number of bamboo products really aren't 100% bamboo. They can be made with Rayon that is made from bamboo. The description on these pillows clearly states "Super soft rayon from bamboo cover," so do not be shocked when you see the same description on the bag the pillow comes in. For more info on the subject you can do a web search for an article called "Bamboozled by Bamboo Rayon? We Aren't So Sure." I would provide a link, but I'm not 100% sure that I am allowed to post links on a review.

3) The fact that you can't take off the inside cover that is holding the latex together. I personally prefer the shredded latex being in a cover that is stitched shut. The last thing I want is my 4 year old unzipping these and making a huge mess. I hate to assume things, but I think the fact that the shredded latex is firmly enclosed will help help keep the shape of these pillows. You can still machine wash the removable bamboo cover, and spot clean the inner cover if needed. If you are overly concerned about stains, then you can use a case that is more resistant to moisture to protect the cover. If you still aren't happy, then you can cut the inner case and use your own zipper case. As cheap as these pillows are, I wouldn't hesitate to cut into them and put the latex into whatever pillow case you prefer.

With all that said, thanks again for selling latex pillows at this price point. I put these in a $20 pair of 600 thread count egyptian cotton pillow cases, and for less than $80 total, I now have 2 pillows that people would spend a fortune for in most stores. As a bonus to the comfort these pillows provide, I can also rest my head on my wallet that is filled with a few extra bills now.

...and now it's about time to put these pillows back to use. ::YAWN::

This is by far the best pillow I have ever purchased. However, it was too high for my neck, so I had to unzip it, tear the seams *(about 5-6 inches), and pull out quite a bit of the stuffing, then sew it back up again. It's very messy to do so, but now I love my pillow! It sleeps like a dream. Finally I found a pillow to match the quality of my bed and my usual sore neck in the morning (from the last year) is gone. I wish I had bought it a long time ago. **I recommend if you do what I did to have a plastic bag covering the hole you open ready before pulling the shreds directly into the bag. Doing it outside might be a good idea as it was messy! I pulled out almost a whole plastic grocery bag's worth. It's perfect now and worth the effort. My only recommendation to the product makers would be to add a zipper to the inner bag lining (the luxurious outer bag case already has a zipper).

Talalay is VERY expensive, so to anyone complaining about having to adjust the pillow, I would say you are getting about a $50 discount at least on this pillow, so stop complaining and put in 15 minutes of time to make it just as soft as you like it. Then...Heaven!

The bamboo cover is worth the price of the pillow alone! It's so soft and fluffy. It's really high quality for a cover and anyone who likes bamboo fabric knows I'm not kidding--that is expensive stuff! The pillow, once altered, is superior to feathers, which make me sneeze since I suffer from allergies. the pillow "feels" similar to a down pillow, yet at a cooler temperature for those who tend to overheat. There is a latex smell, but it's not a big deal and has dissipated over the week's use. Plus, it's a natural latex smell (and therefore while some may find the smell unpleasant depending on their nose--it's not actually toxic). The smell bothered me zero percent (even though I have allergies); but smell is a relative thing. Obviously, those allergic to latex should not purchase this pillow--duh.

Overall, the pillow has made a huge difference to my sleep, is really plush and cozy, has ended my stiff neck issues, and it was SO CHEAP!

I looked everywhere for a pillow like this. Because of a neck injury I needed a pillow I could mash to support my neck and would still allow my head to stay straight while sleeping on my side. This pillow works great but it smells terrible. I have had it for about 2 weeks and the first week was almost unbearable, your hair will smell like rubber tires in the morning. I have left it out of the cover and pillow slip most days to allow it to air out but the smell is still quite noticeable.

It is also very heavy but it is not hot. I wish I could give it 5 stars for comfort but because it smells so strongly of rubber I will give it 3. If the odor won't bother you, you will like the comfort of it.

As a Vacation Rental owner I need additional beds to accommodate large groups. Having a leaky air mattress deflate on a guest would be a nightmare for me. Having all ages of guests it is important that the mattresses be double high or 22" or about. Who wants to be inches off the floor? My requirements are; comfort, durability, ease of inflating and deflating, ease for user to control firmness and support, and storage. I have tried all of the air mattresses on the market, from inexpensive to high dollar, with and without built in pumps, low to high profiles. Before double high mattresses where on the market I would stack two mattresses on top of each other, well it was comfortable it had a tendency to walk off each other. Mattresses without built-in pumps would somehow need the adaptor that wasn't put back in my pump bag. If the pump was exposed my over zealous tenants would inevitably take it off to deflate the mattress and parts would often get lost or broken. I have enough different brands of mattresses that I can stack to the ceiling.

When I discovered Intex air mattresses my fears were put to rest. They have proven to be the most comfortable, inexpensive solution that outlasts the competition in durability and reliability. I have 10 twins and 2 Queens and every one of them is leak free and they are about 2 years old and I feel they are still reliable. They hold up to the ware and tare of extended use and various users. The pumps are encased so they can't be taken out or leak air, many external pumps I found would be the source for slow air leaks. I can inflate/deflate, and fold them easily to go back in their supplied tote bag. Many of my guests have been so impressed with their comfort, comparing them to a sleep number mattress; they have asked were they could buy one. The twins are large enough to accommodate tall and heavy guests, much to their surprise. I have one twin that has been inflated for over a year, with an occasional inflation maybe once a month. Our two labs and cat have claimed it for their own personal use, and guess what it has held up remarkably. We have taken it camping, all you need is a converter gadget that will allow you to plug into a 12v and you can use your car lighter to inflate it.

I highly recommend Intex air mattresses, for durability, versatility, reliability and most important they are inexpensive compared to other brands on the market.

I originally bought this bed as a "quick fix" as I was moving into a new apartment. After the first few nights of using it, I was impressed enough to delay my plans to purchase a real bed. Unfortunately, I noticed that it had started to develop small leaks after using it continuously for three years. Patching it up worked at first, but six months later, another small leak developed and I knew it was time to replace it.

Having struck gold once, I bought a similar air bed at from a different company. It was okay but after one night on it, I decided that I need to patch up the old bed one last time until I order a replacement for it. The soft mattress top on my Rising Comfort really makes a difference, the other one was just an air bed. I'm ordering another ASAP, but I'm deciding on which model to purchase.

I don't expect that very many people would be looking to purchase this as their main bed. But I would recommend it for whatever purpose it is needed for. Speaking for myself, I experienced very little air loss for the first few years without ever taking it down. Before I had a leak, I recall only using the pump a few times to make it more firm. I'm wondering if those who had trouble received defective units or had problems with the cap when periodically deflating and sorting it.

We love this air bed! It is tall enough you don't have to struggle to get in and out of bed. Our last air bed was too low to the ground, it was so hard to get up and down. The built on air pump is great too, it is so easy to add more air or release air and the cord fits into a nice little compartment. We had no problem using a fitted sheet on it either :) It is really comfortable and so easy to use. Inflating and deflating is fast and simple. And the best part is that it fits into the drawstring bag (included) making it very portable and easy to store away. Only recommendation is to buy a foam pad, because if its cold then the air in the bed is cold and then its impossible to stay warm.

I purchased this product and it worked very good the first two times. Afterwards, I blew it up and 2 huge knots came in the middle. I was careful not to over fill it with air. With this being within a reasonable time from the purchase date, I called Intex and explained the situation. They barely spoke English and would not allow me to speak to a supervisor. They stated that all supervision was located in China and not available to speak to customers. They simply refused to negotiate any kind of customer satisfaction. In its current condition, the bed is not usable.

I bought this bed a week ago, and have been using it for regular night sleeping purposes and not just for un-timely occasions when guest come over.

Over all, i find my purchase to be worth all the research I had been doing to find an air bed. One thing I was looking more for was the feature of elevation, ie ; Hieght from ground level, and this one is over 22 inches tall, high enuf for what i wanted. also I read some where in the reviews here that some people find it to be less in size what has been described but for me, size is all fine and matches description.

I have a bad backache problem becoz of which i have trouble sleeping in night, but this one is much of a comfort to me. I feel less pain, may be 10% of what i used to when sleeping on my previous one. The firmness of the bed can be re-adjusted, and it DOES NOT LOOSE AIR FREQUENTLY. Since I have been sleeping on it for a week now, I have just tried to fill in air once for meager 15-20 sec, (it comes with a electric pump, fills it all in 3 mins), but that is when i had earlier taken some air out to make it less firm. So, Air leak is no prob and a fear.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase.

I LOVE the print of this pillow case. I purchased them for throw pillows for my sofa. The material isn't soft but as a part time decoration is works. Its only printed on one side. First, 2 huge boxes arrived in extremely poor packaging conditions. The delivery man even told me that I could refuse delivery if I wanted to. But he did a quick inspection of the couch and thought everything was OK. So, started to take it out of the boxs and then realized EVERYTHING needed to be assembled (which was NOT noted in the description). Fortunatley no damaged parts. Assembly was OK. Literally, everything needed to be assembled. Screwing in the arms to frame, the frame to back of the couch, etc. It took a lot of work (HOURS of work, with 2 people). But in the end, it really is a nice couch. Not a "snuggle up" kind of couch simple, yet sophisticated!

I wanted something reasonable and fashion forward and this item was both. I am a earth color person and this addition to our place was perfect. I purchased this set just before Thanksgiving 2011 and it still looks new. I have hosted many family get togethers and have teenage children and to say the least the furniture is still holding strong.

I didn't really expect a whole lot out this thing for the price. It's hard, ugly and not very sturdy. I don't worry that it will fall apart, but this is definitely one of those things you just kinda tuck into a dark corner of the basement for the kids to use. It will not have a long life span... well... perhaps it will because nobody wants to sit on it. Haha. Either way, it's plasticy vinyl trimmings look really cheap. The cushions are hard and have no squish. It's a very low couch, very light weight and the two pieces don't attach to each other, so it gets pushed around a lot. It's best to put it in a corner up against a wall (which I hate doing because I like the paint to stay on my walls not get rubbed off by a couch constantly being bounced off of it) that way it doesn't slide all around. I would definitely not recommend this thing unless you're on a super limited budget and plan to stick it in a crappy, college, basement, apartment or something.

The product did come as pictured, but the process of getting it was stressful. I placed my order for the couch and a few days following the money was taken from my account, but I had not received any shipping information. I contacted the seller after a week and I was told that my package had shipped but the tracking number that I was given was invalid and showed my order to have been received when it hadn't. I waited a few more days and contacted the seller and they finally sent over the actual tracking number and I assumed my problems to be over. Seeing as the box was damaged, I had to drive 30 minutes out of my way to the UPS to decide whether I wanted to recieve it or send it back. I decided to take it as is seeing as I waited over two weeks for it, only to find that there were holes on the interior and the front panel was damaged. The assembling process was a challenge because it was taken apart improperly. I was overall relieved with finally receiving my couch but the customer service was very poor and the product did not arrive the way it was described. Order at your own risk.

This set is gorgeous! It is true in it's color and will go perfect in my daughter's Paris theme room! It is a little thin but not much. She will have a blanket underneath for colder days anyway. I purchase this with a bit of doubt as to the quality and the delivery method of this twin size bed. I mean I never bought a bed over the internet before. However, I had faith in Amazon that if any thing was wrong with it, I could some how return the bed to the seller. Well, I have to say that this was a good decision to buy, as the items came right to my door steps and it was easy to put together. Basically just open the box and unwrap the wrapper. I had the bed for almost a month now and quality is great and could not be happier!!!

I do not sleep well, at all. I get maybe 2-3 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night. 5 TOPS but that's pretty rare. I don't have kids, not married, no pets. Just me. I do have persistent pain due to a hip issue, and I live next to a very busy street so that plus some worrying keeps me up.

I wondered if this thing would help. Now, my bed was not cheap I spent $1,700 a few years back buying a real nice mattress and box spring. I'm not that happy with it, only because I don't sleep well anyhow. It's a nice mattress has a pillow-top thing attached and overall it feels nice. But I still don't sleep well. I wondered if this thing would help in any way. It kind of does!

This thing arrives rolled up real tight and packed in a tarp-like cover. You have to cut this off, without damaging the foam. I recommend using a scissors, but don't cut: If your scissors (or knife) are sharp enough, then pulling with one hand while gently pushing the blade along the cut will make the tarp/cover snap open bit by bit, without the risk of slicing the foam.

This thing is like a monster: I swear it's alive. Within a couple minutes it had expanded to it's full size. It even feels alive or feels weird. It's tacky and it's like grabbing silly putty. But it's cool. Anyhow it expanded to full size which is just a tad longer than my queen mattress.

Now, this thing comes with a mattress cover / zipper bag that you have to put this thing into. The directions aren't the best so let me explain: BEFORE you open the mattress pad itself, open the small bag containing the zipper case. This cover/zipper case thing is like a giant zipper bag with a fitted sheet attached to it. You know the mattress cover you already have? Well, imagine a big zipper-bag all the way around it on top. When you get this thing open this thing up FIRST and use the fitted-sheet-part and get that on your mattress. Open up the zipper-bag and THEN open the mattress topper on TOP of that. Once the mattress topper has expanded, you can easily flip over the top cover of the zipper bag and zip it up. I opened the pad first then had to shove/move it aside as I had to attach this thing first. Once your pad is in place, then you can cover it with your normal mattress pad and sheets, etc.

How does it feel? Great! I thought I'd sink in way too much I mean it's only 2 inches. But it feels AWESOME. It coddles you but not TOO MUCH you don't SINK deeply into it so much as sort of gently get caressed by this thing. It's nice. I like it because it supports me, and keeps me aligned when lying sideways with the pillow I feel that my spine is straight.

Now, the big question you're asking: Did you sleep better? YES. I did. I managed to get a couple hours more rest in than I did the night before. I really do like this thing. I wish they made camping mattresses made of this you know the kind? A foam core in a self-inflatable thing? Guys if you're reading this I get credit for that idea!!!

I'll update this review as time goes on, to see if this thing holds up. My main concern is that over time, the area where I normally sleep will become thinner and padded down. But for now I think it's just great!

I LOVE this thing! I look forward to going to sleep every night, instead of dreading it. I absolutely feel the difference in my body. I have been sleeping better, sleeping more soundly, and don't ache as much lying in bed. I don't see how I can live without it. Going forward I will always plan to have a memory foam topper on my bed it's just that nice and works that well! It's been a couple months now and I have not noticed that this thing has lost any of its resiliency. If it does, you can be sure I'll note it here. But for now, I couldn't be happier. For something I had zero expectations for, it's just made me so happy!

*** UPDATE 9/2011 ***

So, it's been awhile and this thing is still going strong. I was expecting this thing to "shrink" or thin out in the area where I lie all the time, but it has not. It is still awesome. I wanted to add in this update a recent revelation: I was at a friend's house recently and stayed in a guest bed there. The mattress was quite firm and I was unable to sleep on my left side, as my shoulder has an old injury and it was incredibly painful and impossible to sleep on my left side. I missed my normal bed and I noticed when I got home, that as usual, I had no problems whatsoever sleeping on my left side! This mattress pad is EXCELLENT for anyone with bad joints like me. It allows the affected area to SINK in and still be cushioned, rather then PRESSED back up against you. I am a side sleeper, and this thing is great for that.

Happy New Year! Yes, I am still talking about this mattress topper thing. I wanted to let you know that I just purchased this for my parents: they're old and don't sleep well. My Mom said she uses towels and pillows to position her just right every night and that she doesn't sleep well. I never knew this. She's not elderly or overweight (she's tiny) but I thought I'd get this for her birthday. Hope Dad likes it too! So, I will let you know if they like it or not so you have the perspective from 2 grumpy old people.

My parents LOVE IT!!! BOTH of them have EXCLAIMED to me how well they have slept on it and how it's MUCH easier on their joints and back and that they wake up with far fewer pains than before. As another reviewer suggested (see comments here), I flipped + rotated this topper. I haven't done anything with it since I put it on the bed. I am sad to say that this thing does not hold up well over time. The place where my butt hits the pad, it's all torn up. Not torn up, per se, but there were TONS of lines cutting through this pad. It's hard to explain I should have taken a pic. But it looked gross like if you had cracks in your skin or something. Ew. I flipped it over and the other side was fine but just an FYI, for the money you spend on this, it sure doesn't last very long.

On a functional product review, I almost always award 4 stars. 4 stars, to me, says that the item is what you expected it to be. I'm actually going to break with tradition with Sleep Innovations 2.0-inch Memory Foam Topper. Why? Well, I have used memory foam toppers for several years--this is my third. When I received this Sleep Innovations product, I immediately dispensed with my old cover (1 1/2 inch--for those keeping score). I let this one unravel and air out. First, while I expected a distinctly chemical smell, the foam was odorless. And second, maybe I've been using cheaper ones, but this is the first time I've had a foam cover with a zippered cotton mattress cover. So I got rid of my old mattress cover as well. Nice bonus!

The product is great to sleep on, you notice the difference immediately. It might be an adjustment if you're not used to the bed conforming to your shape--but I love this thickness.

Two words of warning, however. It is difficult for one person to get the foam piece into the zippered bag. As the foam does not slide, this is best handled as a two person endeavor. In fact, I left this on the bed half zipped up until someone could help me finish up. Also, and this seems fairly obvious, if this is your first experience with the foam toppers--make sure you have deep pocket sheets or are committed to getting them. This obviously adds depth to your mattress. I know that's a "duh" but you'd be surprised what some people might not think about.

All in all--much nicer than what I replaced--so even though I had a bit of an installation problem, this is still a 5 star product for me!

Received the mattress topper here in Afghanistan to make my bed a little more comfortable to sleep on but I could not use the mattress for 2 days because of a very strong nauseous chemical odor. I had to hang it outside to "air out". It did not get rid of the smell completely but at least its bearable now. Other than that, it was very comfortable and I'm sleeping a lot better.

Our conventional spring mattress with a well-known label has begun to wear a bit and we were sleeping restlessly and waking with some aches. Rather than spend a bundle right now on a pricey replacement, I thought I'd give this topper a try. Some of the reviews were quite enthusiastic and made it sound like just the fix we needed. One or two, however, did mention that the foam had a peculiar smell, but I thought this was probably a fussy, hypersensitive, chemical-phobic perception. I was wrong. The mattress arrived quickly, unfolded and set up easily, but did indeed have a very strong, very chemical odor. I left it on the bed uncovered, opened the windows and let it air. The odor did not go away. It was actually sickening and almost as strong after a week as it was when I first unfurled the topper. I was nauseated by it and felt ill when I woke in the morning. Amazon, with infinite graciousness, agreed to take it back and give me a refund. It took another two weeks for the odor to leave the mattress that the topper was sitting on! When it finally dissipated, I was relieved to sleep again on our lumpy but otherwise inert old mattress.

I give this product two stars because it was very comfortable and, had it not been for its odor, would have greatly improved our mattress. What is memory foam made of? Beyond ventilation, is there anything that can be done to get rid of its odor?

I have to admit, while I've had pretty good luck with my purchases on Amazon, this one made me a bit nervous. I have a 6 yr old Serta Pillow top mattress set, that in the last year or so, has been very uncomfortable. Couldn't imagine the pain in the neck this would be to ship back if it turned out to not be what we could use. Thankfullythose worries were quickly put to rest.

After looking at several very expensive options to replace it, i.e. the Sleep Number Bed and etc., I decided after reading the reviews on this option, to take a chance. It was hard to believe that something this inexpensive, could restore a good night's sleep, but believe meit does.

When it arrived, my husband and I took it out of the box, unrolled it, took the proctective cover offand I will say right now, we must have really lucked out, as there was NO chemical odor whatsoever to deal with, and let the foam relax to it's size. I read one review a person felt the need for a "technician" to help with this, believe me, from our experience, can't say I see where that would be necessary at allthis is very simple to roll out and while it is helpful to have a 2nd person to help move it into placeit does not require any professional help.

That didn't take long at all, in fact, in the directions, it does state you can actually sleep on it that night, although they do also recommend giving it 72 hours to get to it's full shape. I don't know if by already having the heat on in the house, but clearly this process only took a few hours and we were able to sleep on it the 1st night. And what a nice, deep sleep it was. We both woke up without the usual aches and pains, mine being mainly the lower back area, and my husband's shoulders.

Also, you do not feel the other person moving around, which is a big plus.

My husband and I are average size and we do have a king size bed, along with 2 dogs that eventually find their way up to the bed during the night. Honestly, I sleep through the night without the usual "interruptions" and can't recommend this enough for those who are suffering with mattresses that have become uncomfortable, without breaking the bank.

Ours came with the cover/bedskirt, which is a wonderful feature, it goes on easy and will be easy to take off and washquelling those fears about potential "stains" and what not seeping into the foam. It will be easy to maintain.

We already own deep pocket sheets and these work just fine with this added topper.

So again, for anyone who is looking for an inexpensive, but most certainly a great replacement for a worn out mattress that is robbing you of a good night's sleeptry this first!
