A friend, a nursing mother, introduced me to the brand. She had a similar wooden reclining multiposition autolocking glider. Different fabric, and I think it had a different height for the seat-back. I'm not returning it, but I really liked about her chair that I, 6'5" and 260lbs, could rest my head on the chair. That's key for napping. I can do that in my chair, but I have to recline it almost all the way (again, I'm 2 meters tall). Luckily I recline it that far anyway when napping.
The title of my review just indicates that Dutailier (settle for nothing less) has several models of wooden gliders. On their website (it's filed under nursery, not that this bachelor cares) they have model numbers like "944" and I have no idea what model I'm sitting on.
Surprisingly light -I'm writing this review from my balcony, and I can't leave the chair out there in the weather, but I can pick it up and move it around with ease (again, I'm a big guy). But not too light -it feels very solid, even when rocking furiously while watching professional wrestling.
The upholstery is faux velvet, and my friend's cloth upholstery seems classier.
On the whole, OMG THIS CHAIR IS AWESOME. I have a Think Chair by Steelcase, $800, that I use at the computer, so I'm kind of picky. The gliding is perfect. The gliding ottoman is worth much more than I paid for it -don't skimp.
I bought two chairs because I'm a gracious host and would otherwise sit on something inferior and let my guest have this chair :-)
I wish there were more variety on Amazon, but I got this chair so quickly and cheaply with Amazon Prime -I didn't want to wait weeks and pay more and deal with a furniture store.
My sister just found out she's pregnant, and I immediately offered to get her this chair. She declined my offer because she already has a Dutailier glider :-)
We bought this glider after my back and arms were so uncomfortable from just breastfeeding on the couch. The glider was super easy to put together; just a few screws to attach the top of the ottoman and chair to the gliding base and then putting on the cushions. The fabric cleans well so far. The chair is very comfortable, I've even taken a few naps in it with our baby.
We were considering buying a cheap or used glider but then decided we would spend the extra money for this glider since I would be using it for multiple children and we could incorporate it into a reading chair after all the breastfeeding. We also decided to spend the extra money to get the reclining feature. I was on the fence but my husband convinced me it would be worth it, and it totally is! I highly recommend the recline feature!

Expensive chair, but $300 less than the store here that said they'd have to special order it since nobody was buying it due to price. Reclines and rocks WHILE reclined, will lock into any reclined position if desired. Hardwood construction, super easy to put together, comfortable and stain resistant microfiber. Use with or without the ottoman (which makes it SUPER COMFORTABLE). When you're done using it for your baby it is small enough it can be incorporated into any room (unlike the giant rocker/swivel/recliners). This chair does not swivel, but the trade off to be able to recline and rock simultaneously is a choice that you'll be glad you made whether its 3am feeding or kicking back with a good book.

I bought a glider for my daughter's nursery over 20 years ago. For years I loved sitting in that chair in her bedroom even long after the time had long gone for rocking her to sleep. It was always such a comfortable, welcoming chair. Years later, my daughter wanted the chair moved downstairs to the living room, where she continued to use it daily for watching TV. Now at age 21 she has moved to her own apartment and wants to take the chair with her. Of course she can have it, but I need a replacement in my living room! After looking over several advertisements, I exained the chair to see if I could find the name of the manufacturer. On the front, under the seat cushion, I found the name "DUTAI" and "made in Canada". It seems clear this chair is from the manufacturer being rated here. Reviews of other brands mention squeaks and shoddy materials. Definitely not the case with this chair! It is excellent quality. After 20 years of use it is as comfortable as ever. We might look for replacement cushions at some time but I have to say, this is a wonderful product.

While the Dutailer products are pricy, they are well worth the money. This recliner will be around for years to rock my children and grandchildren. When my son was born 5 years ago, we searched for a good rocker and sat in hundreds. We chose this product and use it every single night to read books to my son. When my step daughter had her first child in Sept 11, we bought this for them. I bought yet another for my daughter when she had her daughter this April.
The cushions are comfortable and easy to wipe clean when needed. Even the lighter colors do not show or hold dirt very much. The rocker mechanisms are very smooth and soothing to a young child. I would highly recommend having the ottoman -and specifically the nursing stool option if you are nursing. We don't use that much now as my son is bigger but used it all the time when I was nursing him. The wood is high quality as well. I really love this product, I better since I keep buying them! I expect that this rocker will stay in my son's room for years, and my daughters will be using theirs for years to come as well.
I purchased this cute pillowcase for my two year old Spongebob fan. She loved it, I loved it, and then I washed it. The side seam opened up...R.I.P. Mr. Squarepants.
