Memory Foam Travel Neck Pillow

Memory Foam Travel Neck PillowI read more than my share of reviews whilst trying to find the perfect means of neck support and as favourable as the others were, I was still apprehensive. I have a neck disprotrusion from an accident and it is difficult for me to get comfortable whether sitting or sleeping. I was hoping to find something to alleviate constant stiffness and pain and I was suspicious of anything claiming to be ergonomic.

When I received the pillow, I was relieved and pleasantly surprised. The foam is noticeably firm and returns to its original shape very quickly. I smushed it a good many times to test its resilence and believe you me, it can take a punch. Not that I violently thrash my pillows but I wanted to gauge how long it would last because no one likes to throw away $24.

Another great thing about the foam is that it has no awful smell. Came straight out of the box with a hint of that plastic-tinged mustiness of stored fabric and that cleared up in a couple of days.

The velour cover does attract lint and whatnot but nothing a lint roller can't handle. It also unzips, so you can throw it in the wash when necessary.

I was initially concerned that it might be too large but it fits me -who is petitealmost perfectly. There is some room left, which I'm sure would accommodate larger adults too.

It is not unreasonably heavy and therefore rests comfortably on my shoulders.

One of the best things about this pillow is that does not crush into my ears when I go to bed and since it provides the support my neck so badly needs, I fall asleep more easily.

It's not a miracle-worker but it is more than adequate for anyone who is injured, post-op, or plagued by "unconventional" posture.

My only gripe is that this product is made in China and I prefer to support American manufacturing whenever possible.

This is a great product! It is fantastic... comfortable, molds to your head, great workmanship! This pillow is made with the same quality as an expensive neck pillow (Tempur-pedic, $75). I forgot my pillow on the plane and was looking to replace it, but couldn't bring myself to spend another $75 on a pillow. I went with this one and am extremely impressed with it! Buy now! It is a bargain!Edit: It is 1/22/2012 and I am still happy with this pillow.

I just came back from a flight to and from europe. This was comfortable and allowed me to sleep on the plane. I've used other similar products, however; this was the most comfortable.

This does fit the neck well and provide a good durable support on your back or side to side. However, it has a terrible chemical smell. I feel like I'm poisoning myself inhaling this all night. They should just fill it with some natural material. I've left it out of the bag for a few days and the chemical smell is not as strong, but it's still a pretty big turn off. If and when the smell dissipates I will update the review. The smell is actually so bad that as of right now I am not even willing to use the pillow even though it feels really good otherwise.

Update:

After a few weeks, I could no longer detect the smell. It was however, too unpleasant to use much until then. If you are buying this for a trip, consider another one or getting it enough in advance to let it air out for at least a week.

Just received this neck pillow on Friday and as soon as I opened the plastic pouch it was in, the smell hit me. Very strong chemical odor.. I have left it out, airing all weekend now and it still has the odor so I can't use it. My next step will be to take off the cover, wash it and spray Febreze on the foam. If that doesn't work, then I'll throw it out. It does have a nice feel, but that's the only good thing I can say about it.
