Serta Latex Contour Pillow

While a wildly comfortable pillow, the Serta 2-Layer has a few drawbacks of which you should be aware. Here's the low-down:

Pros:

-Conforms to the head nearly as well as a Tempurpedic. Extremely comfortable for side-sleepers! On this aspect, I was truly impressed!

-Has a zip-off, washable cover. (Tempurpedic pillows do not have zip-off covers).

-Carefully packaged. Sealed in plastic to prevent contamination and then housed in a thick cardboard box (recyclable) to prevent any sort of en-route trauma.

-Excellent price!

Potential cons:

-There is (initially) an unpleasant odor (as with Serta's other pillows in this line). As indicated in the booklet, this begins to dissipate after the first twenty-four hours. Those with sensitivities may need to unwrap this product and leave it exposed to air for a few days.

-The pillow is surprisingly small (in length, width, and height). My standard pillow-case is considerably too large for it ... as is the pillow-protector I purchased for it. I checked Amazon and the Serta website, but could not locate ones specifically made for this pillow.

Admittedly, I am confounded by the absence of adequate covers for this pillow, but if an ill-fitting cover is the price I pay for a (very) comfortable night's sleep ... that's fine. Overall, it's a good product at a great price. (By the way, if any customers locate a suitable protector/cover for this pillow, please feel free to comment here! It would be very much appreciated!)

These types of pillows seem to have gotten better in the past couple of years. The main problem I always saw with memory foam pillows was that they tended to mold to one's head too much and inevitably lost their supportive function which resulted in stiff neck and shoulders as well as headaches.

This is the second foam pillow I bought this year, the other being a Carpenter Therapedic Backsense Avena Sure Support Contour Pillow. Both pillows are strikingly similar in weight, feel and support they provide: Both are light-weight, both are easily squeezed and both give great support without the old memory foam feeling of "sinking in". Where they differ: The Serta apparently achieves this support through a Latex layer on top of the memory foam and I must say that it does a great job. From the first night on I felt like I was tossing and turning significantly less and that I got much better sleep. The pillow feels sufficiently soft yet provides all the support I need for my neck.

Having had cervical spine surgery 6 months ago, it is very important to me to use a pillow that helps put my head in a good position, preventing further problems down the road and assisting with the bone fusion still in progress. So far the Serta works perfectly. The question will be how well it holds up over time. I got the same good results from the Carpenter Avena Sure Support at first but then the pillow felt just a bit too soft after we had removed a memory foam mattress pad to get a firmer sleeping surface. I tended to wake up stiff and not well rested whether this was due to the firmer mattress or whether the pillow material had softened a bit, I am not sure.

For now I am happy with the Serta and hope that the Latex will preserve the supportive function permanently or at least over a longer period of time. I will post an update should something change over the coming months.

I'm always wary of buying a new pillow because my arthritic neck needs support or I really feel it in the morning. And of course, pillows aren't returnable. I didn't want just memory foam, which gets too soft after a while. This one is comfy and provides good support. Excellent for the price.

I have been using this pillow for almost a month now. It is really comfortable and provides great neck support. It is definitely smaller than a standard pillow, but that does not bother me at all. When you pull it out of the packaging, it does have a slight odor, but once I put the pillow case on, I didn't notice it.

The only downside is that Amazon shipped it in a box that was abut 20 times larger than the pillow, and that box is still living in my office...

I've tried these pillows before and they have always proven to be uncomfortable for me. I wasn't expecting much out of this Serta 2. I have slept with it for 2 nights now and much to my surprise it is very comfortable. I normally sleep with 2 pillows at night and since I've gotten the Serta 2 this is the only pillow I have used. I'm normally not a big fan of the memory foam, but would strongly recommend this pillow to anyone. It's not too soft, but at the same time not too stiff proven to be just right. Give it a try and I'm sure you will be happy you did.

I normally don't provide a product review after purchasing online merchandise but the extreme disappointment I experienced with this purchase motivated me to send feedback so that other consumers can avoid the mistake I made. The quality of the set looks like the type of bedding you would expect to find in a one-star motel. The picture displayed gives the impression the comforter will drape over the mattress but it barely covers it. The comforter has little to no stuffing and could easily be mistaken for a flat sheet; and the decorative pillows resemble a junior high school home economics project. I don't feel this product deserved even one star but at least one is required to complete the review. I will seriously think long and hard before purchasing a bedding set from Amazon in the future.

The comforter is flat and the decorative pillows are tiny and understuffed as well.

Yes, the comforter drapes over both sides but I expected the red pattern to go to the edge of the bed, it doesn't and it gives the impression that it's ill fitting.

Space Bag Vacuum-Seal Storage Bags, Set of 3

If you've ever had a TV in your house, changes are you've seen the commercials for space bags. If you watch a lot of home improvement shows like I tend to, then you've probably seen the commercials more times than you can count. The adverts claim that this wonderful product can fit all your winter clothes or bed linens and after zipping shut the space bags and vacuuming out the extra air, you'll have 3 times as much room.

I bought this because it seemed to be too good to be true. I found space bags available at a local kitchen supply store that had a section for "As Seen on TV" items. I picked up a 2 pack which I believe held 1 large and 1 jumbo bag; however, I am not positive because space bags come in every combination possible!

I wanted to repack my items in a safer package and space bags claim to be waterproof, insect and animal proof as well impervious to oxidation (which spreads stains and lightens colours) and mildew. I figured that even if the space saving aspect of the bags wasn't effective, I'd have an everything-proof bag to protect my linens and clothing.

The good news is they work! You can fill the bags and vacuum all the air out and it will look like.. well, the air has been all vacuumed out and greatly reduced in size, a bit like freeze dried food.

The bad news is you have to be extremely careful with space bags or a seam will rip. I had been zealous in stuffing my first space bag (a large size?) and after zipping it up applied just a bit of pressure a burst a seam near the zipper without actually realizing it.

While space bags may be everything-else-proof, they are certainly not safe from human error. Reviews across the internet point out that this seems to be a common issue with space bags; in fact, many customers purchased space bags to find that the seams were already ripped.

All this aside, I now to be more careful next time and if that were my only issue, I'd still love space bags.

The worse news is the space saving feature really only works with certain types of linens and soft items: the light and fluffy type. So while jackets, pillows, and comforters will compress nicely, towels, jeans rugs and any type of thicker/heavier item will not because it isn't full of 'extra' air. You'll still be protecting these items from rats and mildew but it will take up as much room as it normally would.

The worst news is that the sizes are ridiculous. I was happy with my large bag, it worked well for me to tuck into a corner, place on a box or hide under a bed for storage but the jumbo sized bag was so ridiculously large that it just wasn't practical.

Even if you could neatly organize your items (which you can't!) in the bag, and vacuum so it took up 100% less room, you'd still be left with an airtight bag the size of a medium dog and with a very difficult shape to store as most space bags do not have a flat bottom. Couple that with the slippery package and you have one giant space bag that it now going to stay where you put it.

The bright side is that you don't need to purchase such large bags and I might have been spared the mistake if I'd read the dimensions. There are also cube space bags which might work better for stacking and staying in place as well.

I think I had a fairly typical experience with space bags. The fragile seams rip for many customers and other customers also have issue with vacuum attachments not fitting snuggly (although I didn't have any problems with that myself).

One last issue I am concerned about but didn't have a chance to test was that of re-inflating. The space bags site warns customers to be careful when moving and handling airtight space bags because this could cause the bag to re-inflate, especially if it is handled near the zipper.

Several customers on Amazon have reported their space bags re-inflating after only a short time. Since the seam tore on the large bag and i re-inflated and the jumbo bag was much too big and bulky to even warrant vacuuming out the extra air, I have not been able to see if an undamaged space bag would hold with inflating again. It did seem that the large bag helf for a bit even with the tear, however.

Overall, I was surprised that space bags did seem to do what the commercials claimed and I think an undamaged space bag in small, medium or large or a cube would work well for anyone who needs very secure storage. However, customers should be wary that bags sized extra large and above are bulky and inconvenient. Also, the seams easily tear so one should take care to not overfill the bags or apply pressure before vacuuming.

I was a little skeptical because other people who reviewed the product had problems with air leaks, but they worked wonderfully for me! My fiance and I just moved to Oregon from Illinois and we fit all of our clothes and bed set into two sets of these bags. Wow! (I have a LOT of clothes!) You can cram so much in and the vacuum really helps shrink it down. It saved so much space in our already full car. We wouldn't have been able to bring it all without them. I'm excited about using them again to travel!

I really needed these bags to work because I have a small house with little storage space. I was so excited when I got these and I used a large bag for a comforter that my husband refuses to give up.

At first, after I carefully folded and placed the conforter in the bag, sealed the bag and vacuumed the air out, we were amazed at how compact the comforter became! I read the reviews and noticed only a handful of positive reviewers that stated that the negative reviewers had not used the bags properly and I thought they were right because I had used mine properly and it worked!

Well, as soon as I picked the bag off of the ground, carefully, the seal was undone and the bag was full of air.

Excellent concept, but these bags do not work; at least they did not for me!

My wife and I bought 2 sets. Only two of the bags kept the vacuum seal. The rest either leaked, or worse yet, split apart. These cheap things split under the zip lock seal, despite having a reasonable amount of clothing inside. Good idea, but terrible quality. Plastic is so cheap, it makes me wonder why they didn't bother to make the things a little thicker. I hope a word to the wise is sufficient in this case. I'd hate to see anyone else waste money on this product without being warned off.

Space bags are adequate for travel. If you have to pack a lot of items in limited space, these will work. The travel ones in particular are better for this purpose these are the ones you roll up to remove the air. The vacuum ones are fine if you have access to a vacuum when it's time to pack for home. They'll generally hold their seal while you're traveling and for the duration of your average business trip or vacation.

These are LOUSY for storage, however, especially seasonal or long-term storage. They hold a seal for a few weeks to maybe a month or two, no matter how carefully you follow the instructions, no matter how much air you vacuum out, no matter how 'understuffed' you pack them, and even if you don't touch them again once they're sealed. The air WILL eventually find its way back in and what you'll have as another reviewer put it is just another giant Zip-Loc bag.

You can get the same effect for much less cost using large or jumbo-sized Zip-Loc bags. And given that I've had the same success with Zip-Loc bags for traveling that I have with SpaceBags, I can't even justify the price for travel-sized SpaceBags.

Haba Play Tent Caro-Lini

VERY CUTE! Well made! A bit expensive overall. We have had five children in at one time comfortably. All under the age of 6. So there is room for toys and lots of make believe. It does take up some space. So either be prepared to have the space or patience to keep taking it up and down (approx 3-5 min). Also our 2 cats seem to like jumping in and out of the windows and playing inside it also.

Aside for the cost, this tent was a no-brainer. The colors are perfect for any child's room not fashioned after a license character and the structure is more sturdy than you'd find in your run-of-the-mill toy isle tents. The details are well thought out and the inner height makes it easy for adults to enjoy it too or at least more than some tents. Perfect purchase.

First off, YES. This is an expensive item for what it is. I have seen some of the other reviews and I am not understanding why everyone is complaining so much about the price.

There is a reason why it's expensive. It's has the "look", and the feel of being pricier. All the other play tents out there are rather boring, dome-shaped affairs. This and the other Haba tents out there are more imaginative.

Secondly, I am happy with what I've purchased, I went all out and purchased the storage box/ottoman as well as the cushion. It is lots of fun for my 6yo, and even I get forced to get in there to read books and tuck in the dolls and animals before bedtime.

Thirdly--a nice modification we did: gett string of lights, you can clip them to the inside ceiling and voila, a little bit of light!

This was the most expensive play tent among the candidates that we considered. We chose it because of the design and detail. We are happy with it, although it is 2 or 3 times the price of some other similar tents. The build quality is good, with many additional fabric details and trim pieces. I think it is designed and made in Germany, which explains the price being higher than some of the other tents.

The tent can be quickly assembled or disassembled. It has 6 tent rods, segmented in 3 pieces. It collapses to about a 20 inch diameter disc, and slips inside a fabric carrying case. Very easy to transport and set up in just a few minutes. The tent has no floor, btw. No tent stakes for outdoor use.

Overall, a great play tent, very much enjoyed by our daughter.

While this description calls them microfiber sheets, the title clearly states that they are 1200 thread count "Egyptian Quality". Now...that said, look at my photo and see what actually came. I especially like the subtitle "Compare the Comfort and Soft Touch as a" 1500 Thread Count. 100% Egyptian Cotton. Whatever...say what it is and sell that...don't trick people into something else. It's sort of like calling Velveeta real cheese instead of cheese product. Additionally, the seller sent them USPS Flat Rate Priority in their own packaging so I had to pay $11 to the post office for additional postage. They did refund me the money after I picked up the sheets but it was a little annoying. The seller was pleasant to deal with when processing the refund. I kept the sheets because they are going in a guest room and will be satisfactory for my needs but I'm highly disappointed that I was so mislead.

yep, i was tricked. i was astounded to get 1200 thread count sheets at this price; so proud of my awesome amazon sale buying prowess. i didn't realize until coming to leave this review and seeing others point out they aren't real egyptian cotton, and are microfiber, not 12000 thread count. it isn't changing my review, i just thought my "good sheets" were a let down. now i know they aren't "good sheets".

after sleeping on these sheets one night, i was a little disappointed. i never had such high quality and didn't expect them to be so.... flannel-like. you know, how flannel sheets make it impossible to roll over without twisting your garments around you because they are velcroed to the sheets? well, i suppose it's almost winter, so the flannel has good timing.

i was impressed after washing them, how light and super soft they were. and the color blue i got is awesome. but i guess i'll never really know what a high quality sheet is like unless i spend the big bucks. for the time being, these will do.

This pillowcase is so worth having. First of all the value for what you get is amazing. For an all silk pillowcase the price is a steal and this particular color is beautiful with virtually any bedding that you might have. It has never been the same and for that I am disappointed, but it was my own fault. It still works great, but I can tell the difference. I will definately buy another one in the near future to replace the one I ruined. One last thing, it fits a standard to a large pillow with ease. It has a double flap so the pillow is securely inside the pillowcase and mine hasn't come out yet.

I ordered this pillowcase to replace a high-quality poly satin pillowcase I was using to keep my long, curly hair from tangling while I sleep. The satin worked, but it was just so hot and sweaty, and didn't feel breathable at all. This silk case is just as good at preventing tangles but far more comfortable and breathable. The taupe color is beautiful too, so rich. It looks exactly like the product photo (on my monitor, anyway).

My only complaint is that it's really too big for my standard pillow. It's described as "Queen/Standard," so I guess that should have tipped me off, but I sort of hoped it would work well with a standard pillow. Instead, it gapes wide open (it has an overlapping "envelope-type" closure, so there are no buttons or zippers to hold it closed). That's not too attractive, and sometimes it means that my face is on the bare pillow rather than the case while I'm sleeping.

I wish I could have given four and a half stars. This case deserves 5 stars for color and material quality -but you should deduct a star if you have a Standard pillow, because the case is just too big.

I just wish I had taken this for the very long overseas flight. The tour gave out inflatable pillows. I got zero sleep on the flight over and absolutely no sleep on the way back. I could KICK myself for not putting this in my carry-on bag. I just thought it took up too much space, but it would have been worth it. It's attractive, or at least as attractive a neck support pillow can be, and very firm. Certainly it would keep your head firmly situated where you want it while traveling. Next time I'll dump something else out of my carry-on bag, but my travel pillow goes with me!

I bought this pillow for travel and have taken it with me where ever I go. I had some problems with my neck and back so I decided to sleep with it at home. OMG... I do not sleep with any other pillow. I sleep with a wedge and then this pillow and I have no more problems. I tried once without it and suffered greatly. I recommend it, it is worth the money.

This is an excellent pillow. It's firm and comfortable. I not only travel with it, but I also use it at home when I'm watching TV. It's so comfortable I have fallen asleep many times when I use it while watching TV. I would have given it 5 stars, but the one complaint I have is that it's a little too smug around my neck. It took a little time getting used to something that tight around my neck. Otherwise it's exactly what I was looking for.

I just bought it at the brookstone retail store. Just put it on and it is very comfortable. Could have saved on sales tax if had bought it on amazon. Would give it five stars but just tried it on today so too early. Seems that it will be worth the money especially if one travels alot.

Basic Mattress Protector

We purchased this mattress protector for my toddler's bed as it was recommended highly by the mattress vendor. However, it leaked badly when he had an accident in his bed and we ended up with a very wet mattress. We called the company to report the defective mattress protector and they put us through an extensive process of collecting information from the protector, faxing in multiple documents, designating the leaky areas of the protector and finally shipping it back to them. We then received a call from Protect-a-bed and said that they concluded that YESthe protector we had was indeed leaky (gee thanks!) but it was user error and NOT a manufacturer defect so they are not responsible! The customer service agent told me that we must not have followed the directions to wash and dry it properly which cause the protective barrier to warp. I responded that we had not even washed it prior to putting it on his bed so it could not have been our fault. AnyhowI definitely do not recommend purchasing from this company as they do not have a quality product nor do they honor their warranty.

This is the "Basic" model of the Protect-A-Bed Mattress Protector. Just make sure you know what you're getting. The "Basic" protector has a bit of a plastic feel. It correspondingly has a bit of a plastic noise when you lay on it. It's not like the cheap mattress protectors that can be REALLY loud and crinkly, and I think it's fine for a child's bed. But it wouldn't be desirable on an adult bed. Alternatively, Protect-A-Bed sells a "Premium" Mattress Protector, offering the same mattress protection, but with a more breathable, more plush (terry cloth-like) fabric, which is an excellent choice for adult beds. As long as you know what you're getting, this one can be a good choice, and it's worth spending the money over the louder mattress covers.

Updated review: This protector seemed to work well at first so we bought a 2nd one but after 1-year the newer protector started leaking and after 1.5 yrs the older one started leaking. Maybe it leaked as other noted because the company said it was not properly cared for. I know we washed and dried it multiple times but no matter what, it failed and the mattress got wet. :-(

I would not recommend this brand/model. I will try a different one in the future and will pay more for hopefully one that is more durable/reliable.

It protects the mattress better than nothing at all but is not truly waterproof. I still need to put blankets between the protector and the mattress to soak up the leakage.

This product claims to have a warranty and will come clean your mattress if anything gets through. What they DONT tell you is that they must first "inspect" the mattress. I never once laundered my brand new Protect A bed and when it was stained, I sent it to the company as directed and they said they were not liable because the leakage was caused by abrasions due to it being laundered. They would not work with me AT ALL. Horrible Company. Horrible customer service! I do not recommend buying this product.

The two pillows were two different pillows different cases, different stuff inside and both very lumpy even after I spent an hour breaking up the lumps inside. Do not buy this ! And the mattress pad was cut uneven and not memory foam as stated in ad. Very disappointed in both !

Pillows are too lumpy. Mattress topper very comfortable, but too warm for me -even in winter given the comforter my wife prefers.

Organic Cotton Pillowcases

This pillowcase fits the Naturepedic pillow perfectly, even after several hot water washings. The fabric is soft but not thin so it seems that it will last for many years.

I bought this because I had bought an Ikea toddler pillow but was told my local store didn't carry the pillowcases except as part of complete bedding sets. The stated dimensions of Naturepedic case are an inch shorter than the stated dimensions of the Ikea pillow but this nonetheless fits well. I've since found the Ikea pillowcases sold separately, which are not quite as nice but much less expensive.

Works great with our organic toddler pillow! He has a Coco Mat, organic matress cover and organic crib sheet. I figured we should go all the way with the organic now that he's ready for a pillow. He sleeps great on it and I sleep better knowing he's safe from harmful chemicals while he sleeps.

This pillow case is only 250 thread count, and not as soft or smooth as I'd expect from a $15 pillow case. But, it is organic and it does the job for our daughter's little pillow.

Shabby and Elegant Pink Gingham Ruffle Pillowcase

I absolutely LOVE the top pillow featured in the picture. I also really like the ruffles, but I wasn't aware that the pink ruffle pillowcase is white and pink CHECKERED, not just plain pink. The bottom of the blue one is also pink checkered. I've grown to like it, but didn't know it wasn't just plain.

This is a great sheet set. The texture is satiny-silky without being too slippery, wrinkle resistant, they have held up well in the laundry, and they fit the deep mattress I have just fine. Very happy with this purchase!

I ordered this for my son, I have some kind of comforter fetish...because I buy tons of them...This is funky, modern, stylish, and for the price it was extremely high quality. The comforter is reversible, one side is a geometric print in black, grey, and red, the other side is the same colors but in stripes.. it comes with a sheet set, and the sheets are 600 thread ct, 100% cotton, the entire bedding set is cottom. It also came with 2 regular pillow cases and 2 designer shams... all for $80! for a queen size bed! Again, without even washing it first, it was already soft, but after washing, it was unreal..i was very pleasantly surprised...it isnt "too wild" and if you prefer the stripes you've got the choice...it is a very nice and well made set, it is very fluffy, not a wimpy cheap comforter...you will LOVE IT! I do wish it had come with a bed skirt...but thankfull I had one that matched..very cool!

I received this Queen size comforter set about a month ago and first of all; it looks even better than I expected it too! However, its not a very thick comforter. I imagine knowing that could be a deal breaker depending on the climate where you live. I live in Florida so its just right for me. There are two problems with this comforter for me:

1) Although its of the appropriate width, It is several inches too short.

2) Its already starting to fray on the under side in one spot. Also, the long round pillow is fraying on the edge.

Despite, my feeling that it won't last very long; I still like it...especially for the price. If I get a year out of it then I will be happy.
