Serta 4-Inch Dual Layer Mattress Topper

After sleeping on a thick memory foam at a friends house, I have been craving one for my own bed. The description is a bit deceiving what you get is a hard 2 inch memory foam and a mattress topper to put over it. This mattress topper is allegedly 2 inches. Not! It's light and flimsy, so it feels like you are lying directly on the memory foam. Did I mention that the memory foam was hard? At any rate, I returned it -very hard to get back in the box! Don't waste your time if you are looking for a thick, soft memory foam.

Today is November 25, 2012 and it has been well over two years since I wrote my review of this remarkable mattress topper. I am compelled by my extreme satisfaction with it to preface the following review by stating that my Serta Memory Foam Topper is still holding up, is still the heaven sent remedy for my troubled sleep and after more than two years of continuous use, it is still like resting in a cloud. In fact I have never slept better than I have with this mattress topper.

The Serta 4.0-Inch Memory Queen Foam Topper for this reviewer is a heaven sent remedy for my troubled sleep! It is like resting in a cloud and for someone who is chronically ill and disabled like myself, the quality of this rest is simply divine!

I suffer with an immune dysfunction with many complications. I don't mean to whine about my illness here but rather to exclaim what a tremendous benefit this foam pillow topper for my sickbed is! Really! What an improvement! As it is, I have a very good, premium Serta mattress but it is not a pillow top. This pillow topper is the perfect complement. With my new pillow top bed I have already experienced greater comfort and better sleep than I have had in the past few years of my disability.

Some of the complications of my illness include a debilitating fatigue which keeps me confined to my bed for extended lengths of time. I also suffer with Fibromyalgia and Neuropathy which causes great pain and nerve sensitivity and is greatly aggravated when I am confined to bed for too long. At last I can feel comfortable in my bed now! The pressure points between my body and the mattress which translate into only more pain have all but disappeared. Yet I also feel well supported and don't crawl out of bed with a backache from a too-soft mattress. The foam topper even soothes the discomfort in my legs from Restless Leg Syndrome and Peripheral Neuropathy ~ it's as if my legs just melt into the foam and I can forget about them and get some much needed, quality rest.

I was a little worried when I ordered this topper that my bed linens would not fit due to the extra 4 inches of thickness to the mattress but it is no problem at all. I have a set that had fit my mattress rather loosely before and now they are a perfect fit. Lucky me because I think that the extra thickness might present problems with tighter fitting fitted sheets.

The foam portion of this combo is high quality. It smells a little funny at first but that dissipates quickly. It is not machine washable but can be spot cleaned with a damp sponge. The cotton topper is also highest quality. It is made with a generous amount of Egyptian cotton which makes for a more comfortable, breathable surface, much appreciated in the climate I live in here in Florida. The cover stretches to fit over both the foam and your original mattress. The fit is remarkable. The cover is machine washable.

The Serta 4.0-Inch Memory Queen Foam Topper really does provide the luxurious comfort and support it promises! I do not hesitate to declare it worthy of my 5 star rating and my highest recommendation.

I move around in my sleep a lot. This was really, really bothering my boyfriend at night as we sleep on a spring mattress. I decided, to save his health and his sanity, I'd throw down a chunk of change and invest in a well-known brand's memory foam topper. I couldn't be happier with the results. My boyfriend doesn't feel vibrations NEARLY as much, and, tell you the truth, I sleep better too!

Caveats:

1) Smells for the first few days, then it's fine.

2) Memory foam is 2" with a softer pad above it that's 2", so you are not getting 4" of memory foam.

I disagree with the reviewer that said the memory foam is hard. If it were any softer then I'd keep instantly sinking into the bed anywhere I moved. (Instead, I sink into the memory foam slowly as I stay still when falling asleep.)

People who are angry that this is not actually 4 inches of memory foam should read more carefully. For the rest of us, here is my review:

This thing ROCKS. I'm a lady with curves so I like my mattress as soft as possible. Problem is that I also hate the suffocating warmth and restricting-feeling of a typical memory foam topper. This thing is perfect. It has the sinking support of the memory foam, but the pillow-top disperses your weight a bit more to where it just feels like you're sinking into a cloud rather than a bowl of putty. This thing has given me some of the best night sleeps of my life.

My mattress is a typical one (good quality) without any fancy pillow-topper. This thing plusses it out just right.

As someone with lower back pain problems, the Serta 4-inch Topper made for great sleep for the first 6-8 months. However, over time, the support started to deteriorate. A year later it provides little to no additional support. Unfortunately, did not hold on to the receipt or box in the process of a move, and regret not doing so. I'd highly recommend considering the warranty on any of these memory foam products before making a purchase.
