Luxury Manor 800-Thread Count Solid Cotton Sheet Set

I was concerned that the fitted sheet was just a little too large when I first installed it on my bed. However, after the first wash, the sheet shrank just enough to fit perfectly. Some might feel that the shrunken size is just a tad too tight (and tough to get over the corners), but I found that it provides a perfect stretch across the mattress. However, one of the corner seams started to separate just a little and I have concerns about how long the stitching will hold up.

The cotton is rather thick (perhaps that's how they get the thread count up to 800) and initially (pre-wash) felt rather rich and substantial. After the first wash, however, the sheet feels more like canvas thick and not all that soft. I have the pillow cases from my previous set of sheets a 400 TC on the bed and, in comparison, that fabric is much thinner and considerably softer.

The sheets arrived with a rather noticeable sheen, but lost most of it after the first wash. Usually ironing will restore most of the sheen on many high TC sheets. On these sheets, some of the sheen was restored by ironing, but it didn't look anything like it did out of the packaging.

I bought a 400 TC Pinzon dust ruffle at the same time and the fabric on that is much thinner and softer than this sheet set. It also looks much richer and shinier, and stayed that way even after being washed.

On the positive side, the price of this set is rather reasonable, but I'm not convinced that the higher TC improves this product. I had bought 2 sets and can't return 1 of them, since I've already washed it. However, I'm planning to return the unopened set and get the Pinzon 400 TC sheet set instead.

ADDED ON 12/04: I have now washed these sheets for the second time and I have dropped my rating from 3 stars to 2 stars. The sheets have shrunk a tiny bit more and now they are very difficult to fit on my mattress. In addition, the fabric has gotten even rougher and more like canvas. I would not buy this again.

Soft and sturdy. Even my husband likes them and usually he could care less. I bought one set and was so pleased I ordered two more sets.

I waited to review these sheets to give an objective opinion. I've used two sets alternately for 6 months, changing and laundering weekly. I own the Ivory, Sea Glass, and now Stone colored sets. They are labeled 100% Cotton, Made in India, +laundry instructions on the tags. Packaging is a heavy plastic with a zipped opening.

1. These are a heavier weight material than common percale sheets.

There is a whole lot of starch/sizing in the fabric right out of the package.

The fabric becomes softer with each washing.

If you want a thin gossamer type sheet you'd best get a lower thread count.

Wrap Around Dust Ruffle

I ordered this dust ruffle in part of the good reviews it received, but was very disappointed when it finally arrived. Aside from the flimsiness of the fabric, my major gripe is the darned thing won't stay put on the bed -some part or another is always sliding up or down. Forget trying to make the bed. No amount of tucking seems to keep it in place.

It's on a standard queen bed with a rather thick mattress, but the depth of the mattress shouldn't matter. All in all, it looks better than a bare bed frame, but it's way too much work to keep it looking nice. Who needs a bed skirt that has a habit of wandering? Not me -I like my linens to stay where I put them.

I liked the idea of not having to lift the mattress to position the bed ruffle, but it doesn't work. Parts of the skirt ride up in between the box spring and mattress, leaving that part of the ruffle several inches off the ground. Other parts slide down on the box spring leaving the bottom dragging on the ground. It's impossible to keep the whole thing in place and equally level to the ground. I'm always tugging it down in places, or pushing it up in other places. I guess the idea is for the weight of the mattress to keep it in place, but it doesn't on my bed. Also, the material is thin and looks cheap. And it doesn't go around an entire full size bed, so you better have part of the bed against a wall. I wish I had sent it back during the 30-day return period.

I dreaded the foam topper and did everything I could to avoid it. Unfortunately, my wife's hip pain was getting worse and we didn't have a choice. We gave this gel foam a try as an alternative and to my surprise, I actually liked it (even though I like hard beds). In fact, I don't think I've ever slept better and my wife's hip pain is completely gone. She absolutely loves it which is a good thing. When you consider the cost of a new mattress, you can't go wrong with this topper.

Regarding smell, it took about two weeks for the smell to completely dissipate. However, the smell never really bothered either one of us during that two week period (small price to pay for the comfort).

As for the heat retention that a few others have mentioned, I'm about 6' 220lbs and don't like being hot when I sleep. After having the topper for about 6 weeks, I have not noticed any issues regarding heat retention.

Another reviewer on another site mentioned that the gel foam lost its spongie properties in a short amount of time where they mostly laid. After 6 weeks of use, we have not noticed any such issue.

Like others, we bought ours at Costco at a considerably cheaper price than here on Amazon. I still buy many things on Amazon and appreciate their no-censor policy regarding where to find the cheaper price. Seller integrity = Buyer loyalty.

Those who tend to toss and turn all night and wake up their spouse in the process will like this feature, but others might find it too restricting. I have found that, rather then freely rolling from my side to my back, like I did on my regular mattress, I now have to use a little more muscle power to make the transition.

So, what is my bottom line on this Serta mattress topper? Well, for all of the reasons states above, I can see how some will love it and others will curse its name. I don't necessarily sleep any better than before but I like the way the gel beads help to disperse heat and my wife says it does help her sleep better. It adds up to an average product overall that will likely invoke strong reactions from all who use it.

I was doubtful at first that this product, tho costly, would actually work. To my surprise, it not only works, but works wonderfully! Our king size mattress (pillow top) set is only two years old but has sinking spots where we lay. This product has eliminated the dips, plus increased the comfort ofthe bed. My wife suffers from back pain every day, but the mattress topper has totally eliminated that problem. I do find it harder to "roll over" (age 63)in bed (because you tend to form fit to the topper), but I sleep much better and feel more rested then before. Did I think the product expensive: yes. Would I buy one again: DEFINITELY!! Is it worth the expense: It's priceless for us. It does add 3 inches to the bed height, so you may have a problem "climbing" into bed. but a little old fashion "foot stool" takes care of that. Well worth the cost after the first few days of adjusting to it. Other have complained of the initial smell....we had none! We just opened the box, unrolled it onto the bed, (we left the packing cover on it)fitted the top sheet and made the bed....the rest is history. We love it, love it, love it!!!! Yesterday my Serta 2.5-Inch Queen Gel-Memory Foam Mattress Topper arrived. This thing is great! I couldn't be happier with it and just wish I had bought it sooner.

I think it's the GEL that makes the difference.

I appreciated the fact that the cover that goes over the mattress topper isn't at all difficult to put on. I didn't have to struggle with it at all! It easily went over the mattress topper and the regular mattress underneath.

I got the mattress topper out of the box, placed it on the bed, etc. By the time I got in bed last night I had almost forgotten that anything was new or different. A few minutes later I realized I wasn't tossing and turning the way I normally do. I just felt more 'comfortable' than usual. There was a 'cool' feel to it. I'm not really sure how or why, but it felt cooler than my old mattress topper, which is memory foam, but not the Gel-Memory Foam. I slept great! It felt as if I were just sinking into a cloud. Very nice!

That's the subjective part of it. Now down to the specifics.I had read reports from other reviewers that their mattress topper had an odor when it arrived. Mine had no odor. I put my nose right next to it and sniffed. I could smell no odor at all. It may depend on the weather or other variables.

As usual, I read the instructions AFTER I was finished. Not smart. Fortunately, I was very, very careful as I cut the packaging.

It comes in a vacuum-sealed bag, which you open very carefully with a pair of scissors, being VERY cautious not to cut the foam. There is a protective fabric liner on the mattress topper. That also helped keep me from cutting the foam, which you certainly do not want to do. That part was easy!

The mattress topper weighs about 33 lbs, but wasn't very hard to toss onto my bed. I let it "air out" and expand for a few hours before I put the cover on it. Mine had no crimping. It lay flat with no problem. The cover was easy to stretch over the mattress topper and the mattress below. I was able to put my fitted sheet over it with no more problem than usual. That went easier than I had anticipated.

The instructions say that "You may notice an odor when the package is opened. This is completely harmless and normal for 'fresh foam' and will gradually dissipate within a few days." Mine had no detectable odor at all, and I'm fairly sensitive to odors.

The instructions say "You might notice loose gel beads. These micro gel beads are infused into the Gel Memory Foam, and occasionally fall out." Mine did not fall out. I didn't notice any loose gel beads.

The instructions say, "It may take up to 72 hours for the topper to fully expand and recover to its original shape. It is fine to sleep on your mattress topper during the recovery process as your body heat will actually promote recovery." Mine expanded almost instantly and was fine.

The instructions talk about "Do not put anything on top of your mattress topper or on the corners to force it to lay flat. The edges of the mattress topper may appear crimped. This is normal and the edges will regain their natural form during the recovery process." Mine didn't have that problem. There was no crimping. Everything lay flat immediately.

It says that "Most customers feel comfortable on the first night...Others may take a few weeks..." I was MORE than comfortable on the first night.

I love it!

A week after getting it, I couldn't be happier with my mattress topper. I am definitely sleeping better because of it. If I had to put a number to it, I would say that I am sleeping 30% better. I ordered and just got the Gel-Infused Memory Foam Pillows. I thought if the mattress topper is that good, the pillows have to be too. They are taking a little more time to get used to, but the instructions say that it can take 24-48 hours for a pillow to renew itself. I'll write a review on the pillows, but I'm going to give them a little more time to get used to them.

UPDATE about 8 months later: The mattress topper is wonderful! I never did get used to the pillows.

Very happy with this purchase. I did have to go to 3 Homegoods on the hunt for a great comforter at a great price. But this blew me out of the water when I saw the price on it. Queen Size Brown Leopard Print Korean Mink Blanket Apple Brand

The advertised blanket is NOT what came in the mail! The item I received is a cheap and hideous version of "leopard" print (if you can even call it that!) and is vertically striped with dark brown and light brown. The "leopard" prints are actually random black splotches randomly thrown over the blanket and it doesn't even begin to resemble leopard print.

I will admit that the overall dissatisfaction with this product is of my own fault. After having read the reviews from other buyers, both good and bad, I chose to follow the good reviews, and thus it is my bad. I will say that the negative reviews are all correct. Not at all "Egyptian cotton" -like, and the fit is poor. The fabric feels cheap and I fear that more than three washes will result in the total disintegration of the duvet. I will say this however, for the money, I am not surprised at the overall quality. Since I did not pay much for it, I suppose this waste will have to do for two a few days until I find something better... and seriously, anything else will be a step up.

I wanted a gold colored duvet cover and this is a rich gold. For the price, this is a good buy. It is very soft to the touch. It almost feels like satin which could be a problem if you have rough skin on your feet or a rough toe nail. It catches on the very smooth fabric.

I have washed this in warm water several times. If you get it out of the dryer right away, there is a minimum amount of wrinkling. Don't wash anything else with it as I think it crowds the duvet cover in the dryer. This will help to minimize the wrinkles. There will be some but for the most part these look very smooth on the bed. I have noticed some slight pilling on places of the duvet cover where I guess we have rubbed with our feet. I don't imagine these will last for many years but at this price I can afford to get another set in a year or two. I like the purchase and am happy I got it. I gave it 3 stars because it has a few drawbacks.

I found this for less than half the price they are asking here at a local store. It's very soft. The instructions say to unzip the battery compartment and carefully pull out the battery pack, insert the batteries, switch it to "on" and stuff the battery pack back inside. Then, strongly tap the pillow to activate the lights. It's very neat, colorful and pretty. The lights go off after 15 minutes, but I wish you could just tap the pillow to turn the lights off as well. Otherwise you have to pull out the battery pack and switch it to "off" if you don't want to wait the 15 minutes for it to shut off. That's annoying, but other than that I really like this pillow.

The only problem I had was....I could have purchased them at my local Kmart for 7 dollars less per piece !

Just a warning, I did not receive a bright lights pillow..instead we received a knockoff brand. It didn't even work at that. Called amazon and way are handling it..but I will have a very disappointed little girl..it was the only thing she had asked for and really wanted for her birthday. :( looks like I'll be driving all over town trying to find one in the stores. Wish me luck!

My mom bought me one for Christmas, and it's stinkin awesome! Kinda embarasing... I'm 17... but I really like it. The lights are bright and turn on easily, I just give it a little thump and it lights up ans starts changing colors. The way you have to switch it on is a little irritating, you have to take out the battery compartment and flip a switch on it before you can tap it to turn it on, and the screw holding the compartment closed is very tiny. I didn't have a screw driver small enough so I ended up getting a knife and it took like 20 minutes to get it open that way, that's kinda my fault thoughthe small screw is probably good for little kids so they can't get into it. Its super soft too! I can't feel the battery holder once its all put together and the lights inside don't poke out at all,the thing is actually comfortable. So beside the battery compartment ordeal, this is a great pillowcheaper at actual stores though! Not sure how long it will last, I've had it for about 20 days now, but I think it'll make it awhile a long as my dog doesn't get at it. ;) Be careful unzipping it also, my aunt busted the one we got for my cousin because some of the fuzz got stuck in the zipper and she didn't seem to have the common sene to push the fuzz out of the way.... just kept on tugging at it...the lights still worked, but there was a big hole in the side.

These sheets are super thin! I love thick heavy sheets which is why I go for the higher thread counts. I have 400 thread count sheets that are better quality than these. Luckily the seller I purchased them from took them back and gave a speedy reimbursement!

I LOVE this blanket!! Why? Oh, where do I begin? At night, I am always cold, my feet especially. Before I had this comforter, I dreaded going to bed at night because I couldn't stand crawling into a cold bed. I sometimes used an electric blanket, but didn't like the feel of it, including the cables. Now I climb in my bed looking forward to a light a airy blanket that produces just the right amount of warmth in no time. The duvet feels like it doesn't weigh anything, yet it keeps me warm or cool at night. For some reason, it always gets the temperature right. With my old duvet, I frequently woke up drenched in night sweats... so gross... Ever since I've been using Smartilk products, I didn't experience ANY. I also love their pillows. They are SO comfortable. Two thumbs up for their washable products!!! I can throw everything in the wash and low heat dryer!! Perfect! The company has great customer support too. Before spending this much money on bed stuff, I wanted to get a bunch of questions answered. I submitted an email form from their website and received an immediate, friendly and competent answer. Overall, the high price tag was worth every penny and then some!!

I love these high threadcount sheets! They're so soft and these have a beautiful delicate sheen to them. They say hand wash but I put them alone in my washer on the delicate cycle and dried them on the low setting in the dryer and they came out a little wrinkly but fine. The color of these sheets is slightly less rich than the picture in the ad, but still nice.

These sheets are amazing. Since I have bad indoor allergies, it was recommended that I try bamboo sheets and they are wonderful. The best part about bamboo sheets is that they never "feel dirty." They feel like silk and wash great...delicate cycle and low dry is fine. They are definitely worth every penny, as they are the nicest, softest, most comfortable sheets I have ever owned. It is hard to get out of bed now. I own them in the gold color as well.

These sheets are much softer than cotton and almost as good as silk or satin. They seem to be much sturdier than either of those and they also seem to be getting softer each wash. I would recommend these sheets to anyone.

Most bamboo sheets are bamboo rayon (not bamboo linen, which is a much more expensive product). Rayon does NOT wear well, and quickly "pills" and becomes rough where there is any abrasion. So sikly smooth bamboo sheets very soon become rough! First where your feet & legs move around: I noticed this after only a few weeks. After three months, my bamboo sheets feel horrid!

These sheets fit my extra deep queen mattress very easily, even after washing. They're just as soft after washing as originally. The color matches the picture pretty closely for me. I know someone else commented on it being different. I think that probably has to do with how images show on your computer monitor. Anyway, it's a pleasant celadon green.

I was a little concerned about the fabric when the pillows first arrived it reminds me of a comforter at a cheap motel (!) HOWEVER, as soon as I put them on my couch (which is light sage green), they won me over. They have such a unique, fun design, and the colors are great.
