Sleep Innovations Cool Contour Memory Foam Pillow

Honestly I was concerned about this pillow after reading some of the reviews, but it was a great purchase nonetheless. I purchased these pillows to go with a new memory foam mattress I also ordered from Amazon. A reviewer had mentioned that standard pillows could be a little too tall with a memory foam mattress, so I didn't want to take any chances. I had also read that memory foam gets hot, and I cannot stand a hot pillow under my head, which is why I chose the sleep innovations cool contour memory foam pillow.

My pillows arrived well ahead of our mattress, so I figured I would try it out with our old bed, just to see if I would like it. First I'll comment on the pillow itself, then relate my experiences using it.

The pillow comes in a nice cloth cover that adequately covers the foam. There is an inner layer of what appears to be standard foam covered by a memory foam layer that is much softer and more pliable if that is the proper term. Overall there is sufficient give to the pillow, which is balanced by the proper amount of support. I've read people complain that this pillow is hard, and I while I can understand their comments, I believe they are looking a this the wrong way. Most pillows are filled with air, and some sort of padding material. This is solid padding, but because it is memory foam it gently absorbs your head, and cradles it ever so lightly. It's a hard sensation to describe, but I find it superior to filled pillows.

My first night with the pillow was nice but not perfect. On my first use, I had the thicker end of the pillow towards the head board. While I found this to be very comfortable upon falling asleep, I woke with a stiff neck. I was rather disappointed to wake in this condition, but wanted to give it an honest try. The next night I positioned the pillow so that the thicker portion was under my neck. It was amazing. At first my head felt strange as if it was leaning backwards, but within a few minutes, I realized just how natural this position is. I was able to switch from sleeping on my back to either side with no discomfort at all. Sleeping on my side was probably the best experience. My ears did not get warm at all, and the pillow help my head in a very comfortable position.

After the arrival of our memory foam mattress, I've continued to use this pillow as my only pillow. In the past I've required 2 or more pillows to find a sufficiently comfortable position.

This pillow may not be for everyone, but for me it is the best pillow I've slept on.

This pillow definitely keeps your head cool at night -it doesn't trap heat like other memory foam pillows! Compared to the Z by Malouf pillow it is less dense (material). However, I find the level of softness to be just right. The Z by Malouf pillow is slightly hard and takes some getting used to. The height (thickness) of this pillow is also higher than that of the Malouf pillow, which is nicer (more supportive) and more similar to my regular pillow. It works great for both back and side sleepers. The cover is very soft. My pillow had no "bad smells" when it arrived. Highly recommended!

I LOVE this pillow!! Every night when I first put my head on the pillow, it does remind me ever-so-slightly of a cement block. But then after a few seconds, my head melts perfectly into the pillow. It is soft yet firm. If it gets too soft in that area after sleeping for several hours, I can move my head to a fresh spot and break through the firmness, kind of like creme brulee. It's fun and I love it. It doesn't get mushy like other contour pillows I've had in the past.

I'm a notorious side sleeper and was looking for more support for my neck. I recently returned another "memory foam" pillow I ordered off Amazon, as it was junk. This is my second attempt at finding a decent pillow... And I think we may have a winner!

Pros:

-The pillow arrived quickly (always a plus).

-It didn't have that awful chemical smell straight out of the package, like the other memory foam pillow I had.

-The "cool contour" blue layer really seems to help keep you cool while sleeping. I used to wake up over heated even with the fan on and this has really made a difference.

-The choice between the "high or low loft" as they put it is awesome! So it's still comfortable even while sleeping on your back (using the low loft, of course).

-Perfect amount of support great memory foam; firm but still gives way just the right amount so you don't have any pressure points.

-Very reasonable price plus free shipping (w/ Prime, at least)

Cons:

-Straight out of the box, the blue "Cool Contour" layer is separating from the other section of foam... not sure if this will ever be an issue but it did catch my eye.

And that's about it for cons at the moment (I've only slept on this pillow 3 nights, so I'll update if anything comes up!)

At this point, I'd definitely recommend this pillow.

UPDATE 5/09/2012 I am still totally stoked on this pillow! The quailty is there, the cooling effect of the blue layer has made all the difference, especially now that it's starting to warm up at night. Still highly recommend the pillow! :)

UPDATE #2 7/30/2012 Just because I like keeping people in the loop, I figured I will update again to say I still LOVE this pillow! I use it on it's own every night. I never had nick stiffness anymore. My neck doesn't get sweaty, I sleep better on my side. All in all I really truly recommend this pillow! :)

I really wanted to love this pillow. I bought this pillow to replace a contour pillow I have had for years, that has started to lose its shape. This pillow feels great when you first lay on it, but then the memory foam quickly squishes to being nearly flat. It really provides little to no support because the contour flattens quickly. I tried the pillow for 4 nights and ended up having a stiff neck every morning.

Takes it with her in the car as a car buddy and to the campus library or wherever she needs a nap. Definitely not as hard as Al's armor (duh), but definitely as soft as Al himself is. ^_^

Sleep Innovations Memory Foam Micro Cushion Grande Pillows - 2 Pack

I've been using these pillows for about a month now, and the one word I can use to describe them is "hard". These pillows are hard. Having said that, they're not uncomfortable. I "fluff" them most days when I'm making my bed which consists of beating them in at the seams as they memory foam is quite dense. When I first lay my head down, they firmly support and do what memory foam does, which is compress and conform, but due to the density of the foam, they don't really pop back up. I prefer flatter pillows in general, and while these are a bit firm, they're still closer to flat than fluffy which I like. If these were fuller and and as hard as they are, I'm sure I would find them quite uncomfortable.

I have two herniated discs in my neck and have searched through so very many pillows trying to find a pillow that supported my neck. I went through every pillow in a sleeping goods product magazine (probably a total of 12 dif. pillows). I found these at costco a year ago and have been searching high and low as to where to find them. Thanks amazon for having them and thanks to sleep innovations for this prized coveted pillow. I bought these two months ago, fluffed them according to directions. They feel so promising in the box, but once you use them and therefore can't return them you realize they are 10-lb. hunks of play-doh. I actually developed neck and back pain from using them. As an added bonus they have a faint chemical smell coming from them. I threw away the "pillows" inside the zippered covers and used the covers for my nice new Royal Velvet down pillows. Now that was a nice night's sleep.

This review regards the single Sleep Innovations Gel Foam Cluster Gusseted Pillow received via Vine Voice. I'm having trouble finding this exact item in the product list.

If I keep my head buried in something for 8 hours a day, it has to be perfectly comfortable for my head. If my head is not comfortable, the neuron circuit board inside my head will not shut down. As a result, nothing in the room sleeps. Ask my wife.

This was my 3rd attempt at trying a foam pillow. If it worked, I'd buy the

king size.

With this pillow, every time my body tried to roll over my head felt like it was trapped in a ditch and wanted to stay in place. Punching a foam pillow doesn't work. I'm way too old to be engaged in a pillow fight at 3 a.m...or any other fight as far as that goes. Less than half way through the night, I switched back to my CleanRest Allergy Free King pillow which I've been sleeping on since 2008. I love my CleanRest.

Some sleepers think these new gel foam pillows are the greatest invention since the wheel. Guess what? They might be right.

This cluster Serta pillow is fantastic as a stationary support for my back or legs in a chair or lounger. It transforms most any chair, recliner or sofa, especially the oversized versions, into custom-fitted pieces of furniture just for you. A larger pillow would not work.

My back and butt love this pillow. My head hates it. It's either heads or tails. Tails wins.

The Sona Pillowcase for The Sona Pillow

The pillowcase is scratchy. However, what other options are there? You need a pillowcase to accompany the Sona pillow, or it just won't work right, due to its spaceship-like, nodule shape. Hopefully, the manufacturer will have mercy and produce a pillowcase in the future that you actually enjoy sleeping on. We LOVE the pillow, so we put up with it. Actually, my husband puts up with it (he doesn't complain), but it would bother me if I had to sleep on it every night.

From the Snorer: 4 out of 5. While comfortable it is difficult to move to while sleeping. You have to remember to slide the pillow when switching sides.

From the non-Snorer: Since he has used this pillow, I haven't moved once to the couch to get some ZZZ's. After two weeks, he switched back to a regular pillow for one. And one night only...it was all it took for me to realize just how well it worked.

I am a side sleeper and I often find that my arm gets numb. I was looking for the right pillow .....I have tried several. This pillow works well for me. The pillow is a bit hard, but I got used to it. It also makes for a firm back rest when sitting up in bed. It can be used to raise your feet also or under your knees. If you like soft downey pillows, it will take you a while to get used to this one. The pillow has been effective in keeping my arm from "falling asleep" before I do......so I highly recommend.

Also, the comforter wrinkles badly, and it's tied instead of quilted, although I knew that going in. Well enough made, does not look cheap, except that the dust ruffle platform (the part that goes over the box spring) is plastic not fabric and in pressing the dust ruffle I inadvertently melted part of the platform. Reminds me of hotel bedding, neat but not luxurious (not really surprising at the price). This set serves my needs for now but I probably would not buy again without actually seeing it.

I have worked in a clothing factory, so I know to always wash my clothes, sheets, etc. before using them! These sheets faded and look more purple than black. They work for the purple black theme in my daughter's room so it turned out okay.

If I'd wanted an uber luxurious satin sheet set, I would have spent more money. As it is, this set is making my daughter very happy. The top sheet is standing up well to being dragged around as a blanky. The bottom sheet is staying on the mattress.

The color is much more grey than it appears in the pictures, but satin is notoriously difficult to photograph.

Contour Products Cloud Mattress Pad

It is exactly what they tell you it is. It had a weird smell which lasted a few days but eventually dissapeared. I am a college student and my back used to hurt a lot, it still hurts now, but way less. The investment was defenitely worth it (the price of a new mattress is way above this). Fixed the pressure point problem my bed had for sure. You might consider buying a mattress pad without the "extra back support" because it can be uncomfortable sometimes. Also, a thicker mattress pad would provide more cushioning on the shoulders, which this lacks. Overall, I'm very happy that I bought this.

The pad is on my spare bed and it received great reviews when I had only one person sleep on it but this past week when two people slept on it, it was not comfortable as it is not the same size as the queen bed, probably two inches short on the side. For as much as the pad costs it should cover the entire mattress. The layers are great but I would not have bought it I had been able to try it on the bed first. I would not recommend it for anyone else to buy.

This Mattress pad is not that thick (like 4-6"), but it is the most practical and "real" solution for back issues, to add to a "not perfect" Mattress. I had gotten a 12" Memory Foam soft Queen Mattress, and it still ended up being very hard and not great on the back. I add the Contour Cloud and my back is so much better. Had had it for months now, and love it. Don't get the cheap pads at box stores, get the "real deal". You won't regret it.

ITALIAN 200 Thread Count 100% Cotton Pillow Protector, Set of 2 Pillow Covers

I fully expected these to be opaque, soft, and like percale...they are thin, stiff, and much more like cheap bleached muslin.

I'm used to getting these types of zipper covers from ROSS Dress For Less :) They usually have a higher thread count which is kind of nice but no big. I really don't like the zippers so much though. They don't close all the way and they come right up to the seam.

BUT on the plus side they are 100% cotton (yea!!!) and they will work for what I need.

If it fails to dawn on anyone's attention, you can get something else for about $2 more that have all the qualities I seem to be looking for, but I'm CHEAP :)

What do I DO with these pillow covers, you might ask? I take 2 of the 99¢ polypropylene covered sham stuffer pillows they sell at IKEA and I put the in one of these and there I have one pillow :) I also buy a "real" pillow to go with that. I'm a two (or three) pillow sort of person. So these let me do that pretty easily.

So the rating is actually higher that 3 star I think. But not quite at 4 star. I do like 'em. But I coulda liked them more.

And yes, I'd recommend them to a friend, as long as I shared the few little things I didn't care for. They are still pure cotton and well made.
